Champions League Knockouts (12 Aug - 23rd Aug)

That Neymar touch is one of the best assists I've ever seen. It's one thing to have the skill to do that but for it to be your instinctive reaction when the ball comes at you with speed and you have no time to think, that's just outrageous. Such a shame he has been hiding in France for so many years, he's a spectacular player to watch.

Looks to me more like he was trying to take it down and got lucky, not first touch it to DiMaria off of his studs.

PSG have exploited Leipzig's key weakness at building up from the back: Gulasci. Other Bundesliga teams that have caused Leipzig problems have often targeted his struggles with passing out of the back (even though he himself is not terrible on the ball).

Besides that, however, they've still been able to build up from the back, but Kampl has been surprisingly sloppy with his passing so far. Maybe he can get better in the second half, but for now, he's been poor.

And their pressing hasn't been on point, PSGs midfielders have all the time they need.

Sadly seems little chance of a miracle in the second half. Hopefully RBL will keep the score down.

When was the last time Neymar had a truly injury free season? Has he even had one since joining PSG? He looks the best I’ve seen him in a long time.

Screams of managerial naivety or ego, in any case it's not desired. Being a bit pragmatic when situation requires it should be admirable in coaches at the top end. You can't always win nice, that self-awareness is crucial.

Passing out from the back is hardly a genius new tactical innovation ... it’s been going on for years ... when appropriate.

But insisting your GK and defenders do it every time is new ... and it’s idiotic and stupid. OGS also seems to have captured the virus too.

Leipzig have almost zero chance of winning the Champion's League. The last person to do it with a smaller club was Mourinho in 2004; it is that rare and hard to do. Before that, it would probably be Ajax in 95. It is rare that one of the top clubs do not win it.

Getting to the semi-final with Leipzig is a great achievement; not a lot you can do when you come up against a team with superior players that are playing at the top of their game.

Yeah, they've been ball-watching a bit too much for my liking. When they did close down one player, they've been slow at putting a tackle into the player. Neymar has had several occasions where he'd get closed down, but no one would commit a tackle on him quickly enough, and he'd play a pass out or win a foul.

It looks like a PSG vs Toulouse. I don't really get it.
CL semifinal. Leipzig not up for it unfortunately

PSG have been very impressive tbf, and they're a genuinely great side, even though they're missing Verratti. Neymar on this form is just a cheat code

It doesn't help that this isn't even their best XI of the season. They don't have Werner up front anymore.

The fact that Leipzig is in CL semi final is an absolute miracle. It can't be used against Negelssman in anyway. He's a great manager in the making.
Am not so sure. Leipzig have not shown anything at all, nothing. Either completely overawed by the occasion or totally outclassed. Will be interesting to see what the Nagelssman comes up with at half time

PSG were good in that first half to be fair to them. Looked threatening multiple times, Neymar really looks in the mood, he's gone close 3 times. Disappointed in Leipzig though. I expected more but they haven't really shown anything but some dodgy passing out from the back. Never threatened in the first half.

ligue 1 should be incredibly boring to watch for neutrals. If PSG is involved, then it should basically be a write off, right?

No PSG has had more difficult games than Liverpool or City have had in the last years, so even their games are often good to watch. And neutrals can watch all the other games where most teams can beat each others.

Which strange as he actually wasn't shy of us going long against City or Liverpool when needed at the beginning. Southampton game still sticks out for me when for some reason we kept insisting on playing out when it was clearly not working after first few attempts.

People are funny.

In game where both they go against each other in similar style, the team with better individuals would show their difference.

Leipzig still sticks to style.

Did you see the GK messed up the pass leading to PSG goal. Individual mistake, but it's part of their game. They have more successes other than feck up over the years.

If you can't see that I don't know what game they're watching. Just because a team was bettered, doesn't mean you can close your eyes and pretend.

esp. if they are making it as easy as RBL have today. Space for Mbappe to run behind all half when they go for a press and easy passing around the back and through them when they don't.

From a 4-2-3-1 to a 4-2-2-2: those are some interesting changes by Nagelsmann. Poulsen has a forward partner to play off of in Schick, and this means that Laimer & Sabitzer will switch positions between the right attacking midfield and centre-mid roles.

When did we give a goal away like that though? Our FA Cup semi was a disaster but nothing due to passing out from the back!

PSG look much more certain about themselves than previous years. They have the firepower to create havoc vs Bayern. Looks like these are best 2 teams in Europe (aside from Liverpool).

Much anticipated final!

We simply didn't get punished for it, but we've lost a ball in these types of situations a lot during the run-in (Southampton, Chelsea, West Ham, Leicester, etc.).

They need to qualify first.

Not a chance, that’s 100% on purpose.

he’s an absolute genius.

Maybe, but I still think he got a bit lucky that it came off because if that was his intent, he missed it a bit.

I don't know, looked totally intentional for me.

The GifLord replay is a bit fuzzy. His body position may hint at his intent but it's hard to tell.

Buddy, there is a huge difference between beating that Roma team and Barcelona, no matter how shit Barca are at the moment. I think our display against Juve in 1999 semi final is a better result than the Toma game.
Ok 'buddy'.

They aren't. It's one of the rare time when Paredes and Herrera haven't been pointless which points to Leipzig more than anything else.

Well, opinions. They need simply to get the ball quickly forward to their stars, Verratti slows things down too much.

Every team has mate! The law of percentages. We tend to boot it long in those situations though. It's the modern way of playing, we just have to get used to it

If Leipzig's gonna score, it should be now as PSG looks a bit slower on the restart. The more time passes, the more PSG will settle back in the game.

Much better from Leipzig if something falls right for them who knows
