Casemiro | United Player

I'm in disbelief as to why he wants to join us. Is his motivation only to try something new? If so, hats off for him. Not often you see that.

But I can't stop wondering whether something at Real is the real reason, or maybe a better and longer contract has attracted him.

No matter what, he will offer a lot more than our current options. De Jong would be a better number 8 than Fred, McTominay, Eriksen, Bruno, DVB and whatever we have. But even if we got De Jong, we would still need a DM to stabilize it. Now we just need 1 or 2 of our current midfielders to step up!
Longer contract of course helps. But when a player has win multiple league titles and 5 CL titles at a club, pretty fair to want to spend the last 4-5 years of your career in a new challenge. And United, until we are good again, will always have the lure of potentially being the guy that revitalizes the club again. Both for manager, and for player. That's potentially huge for a reputation/legacy, so it doesn't need much selling. It depends on what stage of a career a player is in though. Casemiro makes perfect sense.

Love that he's essentially the same age as Lingard. That's going to break the British press.

I can't be fecked with negativity today. We are signing an actual great midfielder. Can't believe it. I'm shook, Cafe.

Because I can't help it, I'm wikipediaring the Real squad to make sure we haven't signed another player with a similar sounding name. Frustratingly, it doesn't include admin, groundskeepers, physio staff. I've got images of a 60-year-old groundsman turning up, begging to be sent home back to his wife. Or maybe not.
That's the spirit!

We need some positivity!

What’s his character like? Would he make a good captain? We are seriously lacking in potential captain material.

Not to sound impatient or greedy, but we want more! throw that cash at fast transfers :drool:

He might be, but not all of those clubs are spending 60 million on them at their current stage. Most of them have got the best years out of the player because they identified them at a stage where they're going to break out and become a top player. They're probably even considering how they're going to replace them eventually, while we're just chucking our eggs in the basket as the last minute, both in this window and in terms of the players career.

We shouldn’t go for any of those players. We should sign 15 year old Jaime Perluigi Gastaue Francisco Franciscoson from FC Parsnips. One for the future but also we should play him 100 games a season. Can play in goal or as a striker. Works part time at his mum’s butchers. Plays for us in my FIFA save after ten years of career mode.

McTominay -> Casemiro, name a better upgrade a team has done, ever. Can't think of one. Maybe whoever Napoli replaced with Maradona
Not even that. Maradona's successor at Napoli was Gianfranco Zola

Carrick won another league at 32 and remained influential until 35-36.
Also didn't we want Vidal when he was 29? this guy is BIGGER than Vidal ever was.

We are struggling to attract the top rated players who are younger. Signing the likes of Casemiro helps attract them as well as adds the instant quality we need right now.

There is nothing negative about this deal at all, nothing. It's a real quality signing.

There's no way Ancelotti has said those actual words.

The journo has definitely asked a loaded question and he's replied "I can't reply to that, it's his personal decision".
This is gonna be my last post for today about this topic, but you are absolutely right.

The one who said this was the journalist. He only replied that he didn’t know and he should ask the player.

Please, Carlo is so fecking polite with everyone. There is no way he could have said something like that.

See you tomorrow!!

I mean he meant the predecessor of Maradona. As in the player who was replaced BY Maradona.

If I remember correctly it was a brazilian international. So McTominay could still be the loser.

Edit: Dirceu?

How did we pull this off......big money. What else.

Real have signed two great young CMs, Casemiro has won it all at RM. United are obviously still attractive to some despite the narrative. And yes, a big ball of money.

We have also got some glamour even if we are shit at the moment, real full stadiums of fans, players idolised when doing well, potential to drag us back.

I wouldn’t say it’s solely money. Not many English clubs get close to Madrid in prestige if you want a change from there.
