Casemiro | United Player

Literally everyone would. Going from top of the league to the bottom and going from Champions League to Europa League.
Probably also wondering why current CL champions and biggest club in the world aren’t paying him more…next up Vicinius

We are struggling to attract the top rated players who are younger. Signing the likes of Casemiro helps attract them as well as adds the instant quality we need right now.

There is nothing negative about this deal at all, nothing. It's a real quality signing.
Are we?

Well we attracted Casimero himself. We attracted Varane, a world cup winner. We attracted Sancho, one of the most promising players in German football.

You're always going to miss out on some players. That's football. We're not the only game in town. Some want to continue their development at a certain profile of club, some want to go to our rivals. That's how it works. It doesn't mean that we can't attract players that have not necessarily made a name for themselves yet at a top club but have loads of potential - of course we can, the problem is we don't identify them.

In the eyes of such poeple. United can never do anything to fix the multiple problems that they have. Because if United Start fixing their issues one by one, they wouldn't have any content to tweet on or troll United. They want a ball progressor, DM destroyer, skillfull winger, monstrous FB, Master CB all rolled into one player.
We are the only club that can sign arguably the best DM in the game today but its a negative deal for us. Get bullied and dominated by every type of midfield, numerous collapses and humiliations but God Forbid we buy a DM because he isn't a speciliast at moving the ball forward. In fact I would argue we need a Casemiro more than FDJ. This team has a soft centre and needs bullies to arrest the decline and stop mentally collapsing in games.

And as far as DMs are concerned he is very adept with the ball anyway. He has played and starred for Real Madrid in the most technical league and plays for Brazil but they want to tell you he can't pass. We have Scotlands centre back in our midfield btw. It's just jealousy because on paper we shouldn't be able to make this deal happen with the situation we are in and that is why they are all bitter.

Amen. People will say oh but we're in a bad spot it doesn't matter let's just get people in, but it's short sighted.

That said we so badly need a DM I can't be upset with the transfer. Varane, Martinez for me were pointless signings. But in general given how the club runs things, Casemiro will help shore us up for a few seasons but the rest of the team won't be good enough to come anywhere near challenging for anything given we're spending 70m on players like Sancho and 50m on Martinez, 40m on VDB. So all in all some short term gain but we'll be back in the same spot in 3 seasons.
I know you like to be negative all the time, but don't you think we'll sign some players in the next three years?

Great to see Graham Hunter finally being called out for being a bellend. The guy is so biased towards La Liga, half of the crap he spouted during the summer was way off the mark too. He's just bitter about the growth of the EPL and the demise of La Liga.

Awesome signing for the club, he's the rock that we've been crying out for. I honestly think we should be making one final push for De Jong now and completely transforming our side.

The fee and contract he is commanding is probably my biggest gripe with this transfer rather than his age tbh
Someone should make a list of all the people complaining about this deal, so we can come back to it at the end of the season.

Can't get my head around him wanting to leave and come here. Especially after what has happened with Varane.

Need to get Mondays game postponed so we can get him in vs the Scousers

I don't know if it applies to the PL, but there are leagues where a postponed game still takes into account when a player was registrable/suspended.

Would it be possible to make a list of all the people complaining about this deal, so we can come back to it at the end of the season?

As long as we can make the same list about people hyping up the deal, I'd be more than happy to

Glad we’ve signed a DM but these past few years years have made me too cynical to get excited.

A lot of the comments on here are not far away from what was being said about Schweinsteiger at the time.

Shades of Varane too, classy player but him coming to us is somehow too good to be true.

Doesn't he also have VISA paperwork to get sorted out too? That can take a while.

Casemiro is in his prime FFS

So was Matic ffs

And we will see one of Camavinga or the other lad whose name i can’t be arsed spelling anymore comprehensively overtake him in the coming season and most definitely over the course of Casemiros contract here while we are stuck with a player on the same wages as both of Madrids improving players. We are just a final destination for players at clubs who’ve hit their ceiling wage wise and their current club don’t wish to invest further for a player about to lose peak fitness and drive. Our scouts and owners are absolutely brutal. This is exactly how you spend 1 billion quid and have the highest wage bill and get Jack shit for your money over 5 years but fans still get excited about it. Over and over.

The real problem here is while we clog up the squad with expensive duds and keep giving them contracts to protect their value and continue to fail, the best up and coming players won’t want to come here and the cycle continues

Both of those two need replacing themselves, it would send totally the wrong message making either of them captain. Maguire has proven he can't handle the weight of it but keeping it on him isn't as harmful as handing it to either of them.

We can kick this down the road to when we've sorted out the bigger issues like finding players who are actually good enough to play in the first team for us. Casemiro might well be a good candidate once he's got his feet under the table.
When he was making the decision, the status quo was that De Gea was undisputed starter and Ronaldo had not yet declared his desire to leave. De Gea has more club credentials than Maguire will ever have. And his apology after the game was admirable leadership that we had not seen from anybody else. And Ronaldo is a GOAT of the game and legend of this club, no matter what else we think about him. That said - I am not gonna defend them. I agree there is nobody obvious in that club right now, just saying anybody else can do as good of a job and would have less baggage

I agree with you that, captaincy aside, you look at starting 11 against Brentford and there is NOBODY there that you would say is 100% worth starting every game, aside from people we signed this summer.

How insane is that? Literally everybody who wasn't just signed - you would want to bench if we had other decent players: Maguire, Bruno, Rashford, Sancho, Fred, Dalot, De Gea - none of them are clear starters unless you are desperate and have no alternatives.

We got a class player and the word *shudders* lever wasn’t used once. Thank the heavens.

Great signing he must be me tal to join our crap heap though but ill more than welcome it. Finally a DM

Hopefully we will see a better version of fred now too.

Tbf in terms of the players themselves Schweinsteiger already had red flags about his fitness going downhill that Casemiro doesn't.

In this case I wouldn't be particularly worried about the player himself, more the overall approach in this transfer window.
