Because there are no other midfielders apart from Bruno that have any attacking/creative contribution.I don't get how he became like this though. He was safe in Madrid (at least that's how I remember it) and it feels like he plays it safe with Brazil too.
I thought it was an instruction thing that made him arrive here and morph into Bruno the 2nd, however he's sticking out like a sore thumb even now with how loose he is with the ball

I'd poor would be harsh, he hasn't lit it up like he has done for us but he's getting up to speed. And I don't agree that he isn't suited to the role.Chances are no one will want to sign him in January though
We are desperately short of options in central midfield too. Mainoo has been poor since returning and arguably doesn't suit the role. Bruno doesn't suit a deeper role and gives the ball away more than anyone. So it's hardly surprising people think he is worthy of some minutes

It really is a joke that we have the two highest wage earners as bench warmers or not even selected in the squad.
We need guys at the club that have skill and are prepared to run through walls for the club.

Yep agree with this. Think he would work well with Ugarte and adds that experience for us as well.He played in Ruben's first game v Ipswich, partnered with Eriksen in midfield, and they both got the runaround.
I don't think that partnership has been seen since, but Casemiro seems to have been really put on the back-burner since then.
Maybe Amorim just went off him after that, doesn't see a future for him at the club and doesn't see any point in playing him?!
But at the moment, he's the best midfield partner for Ugarte. Mainoo's form has fallen off a cliff. He needs to be used more. That doesn't mean that he has do be a long term option for the team, but he has too much ability and experience to be twiddling his thumbs on the bench.
The unfortunate thing now is he may start against Newcastle but Ugarte is suspended, so he might end up partnering Eriksen again which would be a disaster!

Going with two stable DMs makes sense but as we have seen, we really try to go for it, when the chance is there. We aren't going to be able to do that with him in the side. I'd rather see Amorim play what he considers the best fits for the way we want to play.

For what its worth, I also would want to see the time evenly split at this point and given the option and I agree, Mainoo isn't an ideal fit as well. But at least he has time on his side and he is probably the only one of our midfielders who could be classified as a modern midfielder in the sense of being able to handle tight spaces and turning opponents. But no question that what we are seeing is ideal.
