Cardiff City vs. Manchester United

Providing there are no injuries, we should be looking at something like this?

De Gea
Rafa Evans Vidic Evra
Fellaini Cleverley
Nani Rooney Januzaj
Van Persie

I'd like that team. Any of Kagawa, Jones or Valencia could also start quite comfortably.

Agreed with this team.

I wonder whether Nani will sit this one out (again) as he has 2 high pressure WC playoff games coming up. Although, it may be good for him to get some games under his belt & come back into the side firing on all cylinders.

If he has a stormer in the play offs then it would counter-productive not to throw him back in.

I want to see Januzaj and Nani on this one... we need some dribbling, plus good long range efforts. Cardiff will be tough to beat, but we can do it... they defend with 7-8 players all the time, so bombing their area with crosses might be frustrating. Some nice short quick passing game and open them like a sardines can.

Medel has bossed Rooney every time they play each other so i wouldn't expect him to show up for this one.

i might be exaggerating :D ... i remember the Boca game and today's game is fresh. For the Sevilla game Rooney didn't play.

What im saying is Medel will be over Rooney the whole game. Could be a frustrating game for him, so we could end up relying on what our wide players provide.

Januzaj flair and dribbling will prove key in this game im sure. But Valencia, im not sure. He cant play at his best in tight spaces, and Cardiff will park the bus badly. So that's why im hoping for Januzaj plus one of Nani/Kagawa/Zaha to start this game.

I'll be surprised if Anderson sees many more games with us.

Agree. Moyes has taken a look and decided he's better off bringing other players through rather than wasting anymore time with Anderson. I agree and I think Fergie gave him the benefit of doubt for too long. We'll only see Anderson when desperate through injuries or possibly League Cup.

Line up I want:
----------de gea------------
rafael--vidic---evans----fabio
------fellaini---clev---------
--nani----rooney-------janu-
--------rvp-----------------
With spurs away as the next league game, we have to win this one. Then against leverkeusen, Jones can start in midfield. Evra can come in for fabio. valencia for januzaj. kagawa for rooney.

The line-up that i know moyes will play:
---------de gea-------------
-rafael---vidic----evans---buttner
-------clev-----jones----------
--valencia---rooney----janu----
---------rvp----------------

Smalling should start for me. I think he's often too harshly treated in terms of team selections, and generally performs at least as well as anyone else when he plays CB. With Jones struggling and Vidic taken a heavy knock last time out, no brainer to start him. If Jones is fit, we will probably need him in midfield anyway.

But yea, I'm basically not sure of the basis on which Evans and Jones seem to have established themselves ahead of Smalling. Seemingly was a fair fight between the lot a while ago, and I haven't seen Smalling do much to lose it personally.

I don't think Cleverley will start............he should stay in Manchester on Sunday.

No Carrick, Fellaini and probably Jones against Leverkusen........i don't think we can risk Cleverley against Cardiff (He'll probably play 90 minutes against Germany tonight too).

The Cardiff game is very important no doubt.
But a midfield of Anderson + Giggs against Leverkusen :nervous: ..........if we're losing against Leverkusen then we're a in big trouble in the Champions League.

Cardiff: Fellaini + Giggs (or maybe Kagawa in CM........like i've said in the "Kagawa Thread"...we should try it at least once)
Leverkusen: Cleverley + Anderson

de gea

rafael
jones
ferdinand
evra

anderson
fellaini

valencia
rooney
nani

hernandez

not ideal but should be enough to see off cardiff, bring in vidic, cleverley, van persie and kagawa for leverkusen and then possibly januzaj for tottenham with a vidic/ferdinand cb pairing that day so jones can go midfield.

so fellaini and jones on sunday. giggs and cleverley in the cl game.
i think a cm partnership of giggs and cleveley means that rooney will have to start in the cl game too!!

De Gea
Rafael--Evans--Vidic--Evra
Fellaini--Giggs
Januzaj--Rooney--Kagawa/Nani
van Persie

Subs: AL, Ferdinand, Smalling, Cleverley, Valencia, Nani/Kagawa, Hernandez

EDIT
If both Jones and Carrick are out, then I want to see Rooney in midfield.

------------ DDG ----------
Rafael - Vidic - Evans - Evra
----- Cleverley - Rooney ---
Valencia - Kagawa - Januzaj
------------ RVP ----------

4-3-3:

---------- De Gea ---------
Rafael - Vidic - Evans- Evra
---------- Carrick ---------
---- Cleverley - Kagawa ---
- Valencia - RVP - Rooney -

Because why the feck not.

Rooney to play as a left forward. Valencia to counter-attack down that right flank, supported by Rafael.

Why the feck not? Because Carricks injured!

Ugh I didn't realize we had injuries, especially Carrick as I figured Hodgson just wasn't using him which is often the case.

Vidic

Fellaini

We will dominate possession vs Cardiff. They're an organised team but they are not a team that will better us in possession which is why I'd rather start our other CM's. I would play Jones at CB, well only if Vidic doesn't make it. I'd probably start Fellaini or Giggs here (yes Giggs). I think Giggs will be up for it.

Jesus.... you want to play Fellaini against Cardiff? I mean seriously? What has he done to prove that he can dribble past defenders work in close space or make forward runs?

so you don't want fellaini to play for us ever again? carrick is out. if he wants jones at CB, what choices are we left with anyway?

I said it before- I hope Fellaini is a 5th choice CM come next September. I hope we land two classy CM. In my opinion Clevelrey, Carrick and Jones do better job in midfield than he is capable of doing in his wildest dreams. Waste of money signing.

Jones -Clev is my preferred option with Giggs and Ando providing the cover.

Right that's it. I guess we shouldn't play Fellaini ever again. Nevermind our issues in the middle of the park..

Bit harsh? What will you say if he suddenly becomes amazing and starts putting in 'exceptional' performances? Will you still hope he's 5th choice and a failure waste of money signing or?

It's been very disappointing but give the Afroman some opportunity.

I hope Fellaini gets a game. He hasn't had a good start but I like him. I think some people are very unfair on him. Just because he is tall and awkward looking at times people like to brush him off as a glorified target man but they're forgetting he can be a very skilful player. I'm interested to see how he will develop as a holding player.

I dont have any perosonal issues with Fellaini. I hope he suddenly develops to Roy Keane mk2 and we dont have look for.another. midfilder.
Point is i doubt it will happen.

I just read "I said it before- I hope Fellaini is a 5th choice CM come next September."

So yeah, I think you do have a personal issue.

Fellaini is suspended for the Leverkusen game and with our injuries he'll definitely start vs Cardiff in my opinion.

Exactly. He's probably the first name on the teamsheet (by default) this weekend.

Yep. I didn't want him in the summer and there's not been anything to change my mind but we might as well get behind him. He will improve I think, seems to do well for Belgium and is a regular.
