Can a win be a loss? Poll | Hypothetical: United and Liverpool win, or Chelsea and Real Madrid win?

What would you prefer?

How are some people even contemplating allowing United to lose for slipperpool to lose too? No one should care about what their doing, they win they win. Most likely they’ll lose too (COME ON MADRID) as they’re the vastly inferior team. Imagine the meltdown you people will have if we lose and no Real CL win will make up for it.

Anyway, Come on United, come on Real. More so United.

Whoever said they'd rather us both lose, get a grip. You moan all season about a misplaced pass and how obsessed Liverpool fans are, then you say you'd rather see Liverpool lose than us win.

Grow up.

Damn straight. I’m baffled by the poll still being one sided.

Do you know how many Champions League's Liverpool have won? If you think the Liverpool fans will let you forget about that win 20 minutes after the game, you're on a different planet.

This is such a weak, pathetic mentality. Are you scared to get teased? Get behind your own team and push them to winning more CL ourselves

Liverpool winning the CL would be utterly horrendous and the nauseating media orgasm that would follow, is just unthinkable. Having said that, nothing can justify losing the cup! It just means we have to avoid all media for a month if the scouse win. We are ALL Madrid now.

I think the poll looks the way it does because if Liverpool lose the CL Final then despite all the salivating over Salah and his tremendous season, Klopp the messiah and his wonderful brand of football etc etc... they will end up with nothing to show for it.

They finished 25 points off the top, only securing CL football on the last day of the season (although admittedly we were only 6 points better off).

I don't think any United fan wants us to lose the Cup Final, why would they? But it's only 12 months since we wrapped up a season with a European and domestic trophy so the pressure isn't as intense.

I would hate to see Liverpool win the Champions League, but I would never choose for them to not win a trophy if this means United also doesn't win a trophy, even if it's a smaller trophy. The FA Cup is important too. Arsenal have 1 more win in it than we do right now, so us winning it puts us level with them as the most successful FA Cup team in England.

That said, I will be supporting Real Madrid 200% in that CL final because I too don't want to deal with smug Liverpool fans rubbing it in.

Can’t believe people would want United to lose even if it means Liverpool do as well. Extremely small time lol this is something city fans do- hate their rivals more than they love their own club.

That's only if you choose United not to win the CL for Liverpool not to win the CL.

There's always something that you're willing to give to see Liverpool not win the CL. For some it may be that dead game against Watford, for others they're willing to give up more (the FA Cup final).

If that’s the case, that’s a horrible attitude. It’s also counter to this idea of not wanting to give Liverpool bragging rights. I mean, they can brag endlessly now with 5 CL wins. We really should be feeling the pressure to win every season. Success should drive desire for more. Not complacency. (That’s why I like Jose. Like Sir Alex he has the former attitude )

Err, no. I don’t give a shit about what Liverpool are doing unless it directly involves united. I would never want United to lose just for the sake of laughing at a rival. Also, and this may be because I wasn’t born when the rivalry was at it’s peak, I don’t hate Liverpool as much as most people on here.

Seriously? If someone offered guaranteeing Liverpool losing in Kiev for the price of United losing to Watford last Sunday, you wouldn't have taken it? :wenger:

Non-United (and non-Real) fans voting for Real CL triple need to have word with themselves. Closely followed by United fans voting for a United cup final loss.

Why would non-Real fans care about Real winning CL triple?

70% wanting United to lose a cup final is incredible.

IKR, it’s just so baffling that I don’t want to see my team lose just so a rival doesn’t win a cup. What part of I don’t give a shit do you not understand?

I don’t know many Liverpool fans in real life so it’s not like the bragging rights that it’ll give them will affect me. If I wanted to avoid the ones online I can just....shock, horror...not come online. (I’m just saying this for argument’s sake lol I wouldn’t actually go out of my way to avoid the internet just because of football)

If Liverpool win it doesn’t change the fact that we are still one of the biggest teams in Europe that can attract the biggest players.

Can't believe that people would rather lose against chelsea, not winning fa cup( most respected domestic cup trophy in the world), sacrifice all time best in one english competition just because liverpool will win champ league. Competition where they already have 2 more than us. 5 times la, 6 times la. Is that different that much? Is it worth fa cup trophy? Is it worth wanting your club to lose? Can't understand it, really i can't.

If situation is opposite and we see this poll and this poll result on rawk, we would be all over them. We gave them with this poll result bigger banter than "6 times". This is shot in the foot from our side.

Feck me! Quit with the stupid hypotheticals already. In what universe would this even happen?? Dear Lord!

Who is offering this ? How are they offering this ? Why are they offering this ?

Are these threads really the best people can do ?

Do I want united to win the cup ?

Yes end of story I'm a united fan . Why on earth would I not want this ?

The only thing you can do is place an insurance/jinx bet on them to win.

Then if they lose, you lose too. Job done!

They have 2 more now already. Which they remind us for decades. What they can do now? Say 6 times instead 5 times. Wow, so much difference. With cup we will be all time best in two biggest competitions in england. We have all three euro titles. They don't. They didn't win league more than 25 years. So if you are so worried what they will say , it is much bigger banter than 5 or 6 times.

A more interesting question would be the moral dilemma of choosing between a City or Liverpool CL win. I'm sure most of you would prefer City to win the CL, but I'd rather a team I don't see as a viable threat in the league win it than a team that is currently better and has much much much more money.
Liverpool could be a viable threat next season depending on summer signings

Does that not also apply to any team that finished in the top 4-5?

They were very successful last summer with regards to transfers but they only finished 4th.

They’re the only team to actually have a game plan to attack city in 4 games this season . If he sorts the GK and gets 2 defenders I’d be worried .

League isn't won by taking 6 points from City though.

I would always rather we win than Liverpool lose, but this is different.

The FA cup doesn't compare to the CL.

Henderson lifting the CL trophy? Yeah, no thanks.

Rather both teams lose if it means Pool don't win the CL.

It smacks me of extremely weak, insecure mentality, I mean the 'both losing' option, esp when it concerns your beloved club.

How does a team captained by Jordan 'I am the very epitome of the term average' Henderson find themselves in a CL final. The fact that this guy could actually lift the trophy is a crime against humanity. You would have to think that Real Madrid, the first genuine test this Liverpool team will have faced throughout this CL run, will finally put an end to the madness.

6 times, la? Nah.

This whole thread is about the hypothetical, why even bother to reply if you don't want to discuss hypothetical.

Amazing that 70% have that small time mentality. We should be loving United more than we hate anyone else.

I understand what you mean and in terms of the 5 CL wins yes they have bragging rights in terms of English teams. But we all know the one they really want is the Premier League. At the moment the only competition they enter which they have won more times than anyone else is the League Cup. Arsenal hold the FA Cup record, Real Madrid the European Cup/ Champions League and obviously United the English title. So even if they do win against Madrid it will still be 27 years since their last First Division win :).

I want the same result as do Sir Alex, Sir Bobby, The Board, the team and the thousands of Utd supporters at the game ....100% a Utd win.

Couldn't give a toss about the CL.

It's true, City have been so average this season they couldn't even win the league with a 20+ point margin ffs.
