i won't argue about what liverpool can be in 2-3 years time.. but not now.. clearly their exit from the CL will back up my point.

Real problems this season eh? Unlike last season when you were good enough, unlike us..

i know and i agree.
the point is SAF has a will to make changes in things. if he was sacked i'd be worried and i'd start to panick. but he hasn't quit.. he insists he can do it again.. and i have faith in the players too.. i think they're very capable.. you know it, i know it, and all the true United fans know it..
the non-muppets are thinkin of the positives and what will come of this.. and it's only because it's happened before.. so this is not new at all.

If you can find a single "moan" from me about Giggs on this forum, then I'll eat some Asturian Blue cheese (then probably be sick all over my computer).
I've only put forward an opinion that one big name player should go, and that big name player is Giggs for the reasons I put forward. That is not a moan, a moan in this context is a "lament" or "a passionate expression of grief", nothing to do with what I said.
Ok!

we are still good enough.. the problems are not in the players' ability.. compare that and i think we'll beat you by miles (as a team.. don't point out individuals.. i agree individually some of our players don't match up, esp in the depth of the squad which we clearly lack)
the problems exist behind the scenes.. the keane incident.. the giggs incident.. the tactics being employed that don't suit the players.. it's a transition period IMO..
i won't argue that with team spirits poo are much beyond us.. but once we get it back we'll be right back - and it won't take long at all as i'm sure SAF will get on top of the problems and solve it.

sir yes sir! i was only playing with you.. although i would still put my head against the wall and keep saying that i don't believe it has to be giggs that should be sacrificed.. i think adding players to the team is the answer, not subtracting. not now anyway.

Nothing wrong with hoping son.
Maybe one day you'll be as good as the likes of ourselves, Real Madrid, Valencia, Deportivo, Juve etc..
A few things will have to change though

Yeah
All your players are miles better than ours which is why we're 2nd in the league and you're 5th..
and why you finished behind us last season..
and why we've beaten you on the last 5 occasions..

Recent form, results and performances suggest we are about as good as each other.
Of course, form, results and performances doesn't really say much, do they Davo?

Of course the fact that they have won the European Cup more than once in the last couple of decades suggests they may be better in Europe..
But then, winning the trophy doesn't mean much when you can consistently fail at the knock out stage, does it Boring?

I think you're aiming too high. You should be concentrating on making it to the second stage first

So, using that theory, then Man United surely must be better than Liverpool domestically, seeing as we won the Championship 7 times since Liverpool last won it..

You miss the point that subtracting one big name player can have a drastic effect on the mentality of the squad as a whole. It's a kick up the arse for a few millionares who think that they have the right to play week-in, week-out. It puts things into perspective.
It's happened before and it will happen again. Take Ince and Kanchelskis when they went. A significant number of fans started moaning then and calling SAF stupid and for his sacking.
The only time I can think of it not working under SAF is with Stam.
A club littered with a large number of the same faces that were there 10 years ago in some form of another cannot be good, it get's too cosy, too family like, stale. Some old thing, week-in, week-out. Not a problem when it was working, but it isn't currently working as it should.
And I don't buy this "they are not playing in their positions", for Christ's sake, they are professional footballers that have been asked to adapt slightly, it shouldn't be hard, and it's not like we are asking Beckham to play on the left and Giggs to play on the right now is it?
If my boss came to me tomorrow and said "Weaste, were not using PHP and C++ anymore, we're going over to .NET and ASP" do you think that after a month, if I didn't adapt and therefore didn't perform like before, I would still have a job? I'd be out of the door like a shot.
And anyway, I said the same thing about Giggs last year, so before you say it's a knee-jerk reaction, it's not.

i agree 100%, that's why i also added that SAF is prepared to go full stream with this plan and not look back then giggs clearly doesn't fit the bill as he has shown much disinterest in the new role.
and i said we shouldn't subtract now because we are rather weak in terms of squad depth.. with giggs gone and solid replacement being added we'd be in more serious trouble.. right now we may need 1 more left winger to compete with giggs, but with him gone we'll need atleast 2 to cover that position.. seeing that our scouts haven't been too good this could pose as a big problem. why not try adding before subtracting was my point.

But most people want a Ronaldinio (or however you spell the curly haired git's name), which will cost a lot of money. Do we have it?
Strangely enough, many that call for him slate Verón and Forlan, yet then pray that we get another South American. <img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" />

my advise to you FMTM is never to bend over and take off your pants in front of the poo fans.. they'll go at your behind like riding their favourite horse.
have some faith in this team mate. we will be on top of the problems in no time, it's just difficult because of all the injuries. it won't be fair to judge their devotion to the club until all our first 11 are up and running. surely there are players who need the sack, or even the manager himself, but we have to atleast evaluate the situation properly and i'm sure SAF is already on top of this.

That's a good, mature argument Davo..
You're claiming Liverpool to be better than Man United because:
- Liverpool finished above Man United last season
- Liverpool are currently above Man United
- Liverpool have beaten Man United the last few times they've met
So why is it so "idiotic" to claim that Real Madrid aren't that much better than Man United when considering:
- Both teams finished third in their respective leagues last season
- Both teams are struggling in their respective leagues this season
Add to that, Real Madrid has struggled in the CL as well this season - only won two games.
