I've only put forward an opinion that one big name player should go, and that big name player is Giggs for the reasons I put forward. That is not a moan, a moan in this context is a "lament" or "a passionate expression of grief", nothing to do with what I said.

sir yes sir! i was only playing with you.. although i would still put my head against the wall and keep saying that i don't believe it has to be giggs that should be sacrificed.. i think adding players to the team is the answer, not subtracting. not now anyway.

Of course the fact that they have won the European Cup more than once in the last couple of decades suggests they may be better in Europe..
But then, winning the trophy doesn't mean much when you can consistently fail at the knock out stage, does it Boring?

Well, winning the CL once is more than most teams achieved. You can`t compare the CL with the old champions cup, there only 4-5 good teams took part and you got your first decent opponent in the semis. It´s much harder winning nowadays.

You miss the point that subtracting one big name player can have a drastic effect on the mentality of the squad as a whole. It's a kick up the arse for a few millionares who think that they have the right to play week-in, week-out. It puts things into perspective.
It's happened before and it will happen again. Take Ince and Kanchelskis when they went. A significant number of fans started moaning then and calling SAF stupid and for his sacking.
The only time I can think of it not working under SAF is with Stam.
A club littered with a large number of the same faces that were there 10 years ago in some form of another cannot be good, it get's too cosy, too family like, stale. Some old thing, week-in, week-out. Not a problem when it was working, but it isn't currently working as it should.
And I don't buy this "they are not playing in their positions", for Christ's sake, they are professional footballers that have been asked to adapt slightly, it shouldn't be hard, and it's not like we are asking Beckham to play on the left and Giggs to play on the right now is it?
If my boss came to me tomorrow and said "Weaste, were not using PHP and C++ anymore, we're going over to .NET and ASP" do you think that after a month, if I didn't adapt and therefore didn't perform like before, I would still have a job? I'd be out of the door like a shot.
And anyway, I said the same thing about Giggs last year, so before you say it's a knee-jerk reaction, it's not.

Man Utd are in the worst form for 15 years and I dont think SAF or the players quite know how to put things right. The harder we try the more things go wrong. I still think we're capable of putting on a decent European front, and though the Prem is far from out of reach, the next month's fixture has come too early and its going to be tough.
The Poo have blown it big time in Europe, but they clearly have a decent chance to restore some pride in the EUFA. They've done well in the Prem so far but look like a lack of staying power will be their undoing as usual.
Arse are more tricky. They came blasting out of their seasons blocks and looked unbeatable. They've since de-railed but I'd expect them to put things right and take the Prem. Europe may still be too early for them.
