the schedule was not their friend, they had the strong teams first and the bottom feeders last in the half-series. Easy to pick up a very negative momentum that way.
Anyway, the club maintains its calm and they would hold on to Streich and his team even through a 2nd league dive, which i think is quite unlikely.
 
Köln just announced Markus Anfang as their new coach for next season. Since his current team (Holstein Kiel) is 3rd placed in the second division there is still a chance that both clubs could meet in the relegation play-off or at least that he stays in the second division while his current club goes up.
 
Sad to see a huge club like Hamburg get relegated, but it has been coming for a few years now. I watched them quite a lot back when Van der Vaart had his first stint there. Sad times.

I admit, I havent really followed them after VdVaarts first period and that's been about ten years, so I'm sure it went down hill from there :)

James not starting the only surprise here. Surely to give him some rest ahead of the CL semifinals and to give Thiago a chance to get more minutes after his comeback. Also an excellent impact sub to tip the game in our favor in the final 20-30 minutes.
 
Decent start I'd say... apart from Ribery almost assisting the 1:1. Great cross for the 2:0 though. :drool:
 
Nah German Bundelsiga is not weak. Leverkusen in 3rd and Dortmund in 4th are down 0-2 within 10 minutes to Bayern Munich.

Stole a lot of balls today. Header before the 1:0 that came to Martinez. Second goal he had 3 defenders on him to run to the left post, Robben draw Retsos into the center of goal, too. Lewy was free to shoot. It is not always the ball actions!
