Bundesliga 2016/17

France will be unplayable if all their talents come to fruition.

Dembele, Martial, Lemar, Mbappe, Bakayoko, Coman, Tolisso, and I am sure I've forgotten quite a few.

Dortmund are playing very direct. Looking for the shortest route to goal.

Benjamin Mendy, Laporte, Umtiti, Zouma, Malang Sarr, Alban Lafont too.

Would be a great result for Bayern.

That's why I'm rooting for them right now. But it's not just that, I want to see Dortmund in the CL next season, because I'm German and want to see the German teams doing well. They need to win this game today with all the other teams around them in the table winning as well.

I'm just thinking if 3-4-3 would suit Dortmund in away games...They have the wingbacks and concede still too easily with just 2 CB's so adding an extra CB should in theory add defensive solidity. They have plenty of pace/power upfront to counter quickly like Chelsea does.

I find that surprising. English people I know want everyone apart their own team to fail in europe

I don't. I don't want them to do better than us, of course, but for me it shows the strength of our league and that the Bundesliga isn't as shite as some fans from other countries think.

Dortmund should get the second goal. The game is shifting a bit.

How bloody fast is this Upanema or whatever guy :lol: he caught Aubameyang with ease, like a steam train against a TGV

So lucky in the end, I mean by God they should have led 6-0 by then, Reus alone should have had 3 or 4. So wasteful.

Leipzig fans copying the trade mark Bayern chant for like (the first) ten minutes straight was the most depressing thing I've seen in a while.

Dembele though... so much talent is unfair :drool::drool:

I love how direct Leipzig are but sometimes I wish they'd pass to Ilsanker when he's space a bit more often instead of feeling the need to only pass forwards.

I thought Leipzig missed the guile of Forsberg and the goal threat of Werner, the highlight of the match for me was the midfield battle between Weigl and Keita.

Leipzig have some decent players, hope we are interested in that midfielder, reminds me of Kante.

has anyone honoured Philipp Lahms 500th Bundesliga apperance yet? He also leads in the category "most 1st league matches played before growing pubic hair". One for the record books, surely.

Dortmund officially sign Toprak (for the summer). As a Dortmund-sympathizer I can't say I like this transfer. Toprak is pretty mediocre.

Was about to ask how he had been doing this season? I guess not that well.

It's actually not as bad as the numbers suggest imho. I think he's been doing what he's supposed to do (being a passing outlet in tight spaces) pretty well and very consistently, what's mostly been missing thus far are moments of individual brilliance though.

Dortmund usually set up in a asymmetrical 4141/4231 hybrid with two attack minded midfielders in front of Weigl. Götze's problems are that he's really more of a no10 than a no8, something which is also true for Kagawa and Castro and leads to Guerreiro apparently being a safe starter when he's fit, because he's the only one who interprets the role in a aggressive and dynamic way and as a result there is one slot for the remaining three players.

Yesterday Tuchel changed to sort of an asymmetrical 352/4141 though (adding Durm as sort of a RWB), something he already did last season to add more bite against the ball. Now the problem for Götze with this is that it's very likely his role that's being sacrificed for Durm, since the R"CM" has to operate in the right half space and on the wing in attack, so naturally Dembele takes that spot.

The thing is that the CB position has been (one of) Dortmund's biggest problems this season.
Bartra is missing consistency, he's not reliable enough to be a certain starter, Bender has his usual injury problems and Ginter imho seems to lack the talent to be a top CB.

So signing Toprak is a decent first step for Dortmund, because at the very least he should be an upgrade to 3 of their 4 CBs and since the fee they have to pay is relatively low they should still have the option to sign another CB shoould a good opportunity present itself.

Tbh I think their entire defense needs an overhaul this summer.
If i was Zorc, I'd look for a BPD in addition to Toprak, an attack minded LB (since Guerreiro should be considered a CM now) and a new RB (age seems to have caught up with Piszczek). And while he's at it maybe a talent as a back up for Guerreiro, since their reliance on him seems a bit unhealthy. ;)

Frankfurt won against Darmstadt 2-0 and are now 3rd again. They only scored 25 goals this season but their defense is pretty solid (15 goals conceded). Kovac is doing a fantastic job at Frankfurt.

Great. If Frankfurt could, they would keep him, but he's surely going back to you in the summer?
That seems to be the plan. Especially 'coz pepe's off to china

As a Frankfurt fan, I have to come in here :)

Kovac has been absolutely superb, a real gem of a manager. Expected to be in BL-2 (and wouldn't have blamed him) when he took over at the end of last season . . To be around 25 points from a CL spot with 15 matches left is sensational.

Defence is superb and well organised.
Vallejo has been sensational and will be a real star for RM & Spain in the future. On that you can be guaranteed.
Hradecky in goal has been unbelievable. He's competing with Neuer for best GK in the BL in my view.

Tough challenges ahead though as Eintracht have to play all the current top 7 away (except Leipzig)

I think he's rather good. But the reality is that no one looks good defensively in Schmidt's system. No one.
He is clearly better then Bartra or Ginter. I guess he is the best they could get. Him and Sokratis in defense doesn't look too bad. Better then Bartra, who is afraid of the ball
