Bundesliga 2016/17

Time for us to prepare a proper transfer raid on them come summer.
That Forsberg fella could make for a nice Xabi replacement, Werner, Keita and Sabitzer are also people worth keeping an eye on. Make it happen, Uli

:D

They won't need the money, you'll have to bid a ridiculous amount for them to sell to you.

What a goal by Frankfurt, going up 1-0 right at the start of the second half.

Really bold move by Tuchel, using up his 3 subs at the same time at the 57th minute. Is he losing it?

That's provided the English clubs don't price you out of a move like City did with De Bruyne.

Sure, if you're willing to splash out 70m for some Leipzig player, we'll look elsewhere.

Good game, Seferovic for the lead again just minute or two after Auba scored.

That looked a penalty right at the end. Schmelzer touching the ref was unsavory and an eyesore though.

What an uninspiring performance by us. Still unlucky (not given stonewall pen, Dembele´s hit) to not get a draw out of it, certainly did not deserve more. Just not consistent enough to mount a title challange.

I don't understand why Alaba deserves to start over Bernat. Alaba is in shite form, just like Müller. And Alonso against Leverkusen? 4-3-3 again? Puh.

It's simply Carlo's favourite formation. Problem is that, he's not prepared to make the necessary sacrificies for it to work.

Oh well, at least our subs have potential today:lol: Let's just hope for some Bottlekusen lunacy helping us

And intentional handball, it shpuld have been a clear red for Martinez.

Lucky Bayern, should have been a pen and red for the handball.

Another penalty? What the feck was Martinez doing there? He just went kung fu on a player without even going for the ball. They won't even show it again.

Yep, should have been pen and red. On the other hand Martinez shoud have gotten a penalty when he got elbowed in the first have.
Two wrongs don't make a right I guess...

Munich-Leverkusen was a fun match. I love watching Kampl and Calhanoglu play. I also really like Kimmich even though he didn't have the best of games.

Leverkusen should've had a pen, though. I don't remember Martinez being such a cheat. He was flopping all over the place all game. Though, apart from the pen incident, I thought the referee did really well handling such an intense game.

Bayern should have had a pen as well, when Lewandowski was fouled after ~12 minutes. They had a very clear angle on it in Sportsudio last night, where you see how the defender first sweeps Lewa's feet away before getting to the ball.

Niko Kovač doing so great with Eintracht. So glad for him.

As an Eintracht fan (will be at the next home match), I would frankly bow to Kovač (and the brother Robert) for the job he has done in Frankfurt.

When he took over from Veh in March, the team was dead and buried and heading to BL2. Instead, even when three wins from the last four matches were required just to make the play off spot, he still told the players how much he believed in them. The results this season so far have been nothing sort of extraordinary - wins over Schalke, Leverkusen, Dortmund, Ingoldstadt, a resurgent Köln whilst coming back to draw with ten men v Bayern. He's also a lucky manager and we all know Napoleon's quote . . . To think that in May, Frankfurt were 20 minutes away from BL2 football this season.

Of course, and without getting carried away, there are very tough challenges ahead.

This brings me to my point about Kovač himself. His results (in his first club job) won't have gone unnoticed elsewhere. . . Even at somewhere like Bayern (whom he used to play for). I can't see Ancelotti being around for next season in Bavaria.

Could Bayern go for Kovač?

Rumour has it they're interested in Klopp.

How realistic is this?
Would Klopp leave?
Are there other potential Bayern managers out there? Nagelsmann????
Are there other clubs out there with more money and resources who'd be more than happy to tempt Kovač?

I haven't seen the incident.

Can I just say though (and I'm not on a wind up here) that Lewandowski is one of the greatest cheats when it comes to theatrical diving in the penalty area.

I don't mean that in Germany. . . in football generally.

True - I completely forgot about that. I wasn't trying to make out that Leverkusen were cheated out of a result as I thought Munich were worthy winners; I just couldn't believe what happened! I thought for sure the player had either missed the target or Martinez had got a legitimate block off, so I don't blame the ref too much for missing it as I didn't notice until the replays either.

If he continues to perform like this I'm sure Bayern will take notice.
Although I've been hearing rumours about Klopp to Bayern but I think it's too early.

As for Niko really glad for him after things ended like they did when he was NT coach. I think he was thrown into that too early and given our players are primadonas, and he is a bit strict it all went downhill.
But I'm sure he'll be back one day on Croatia's bench, and it will be deserved.

You lot have been unreal this season. Fabian has been a real find. Hang on to him like grim death.

I must admit to surpirse that Fabian even stayed for the start of this season.

He had a great start to his Eintracht career - coming on as a substitute in the home game v Wolfsburg in January to set up (with a fantastic bit of trickery) a last minute hat trick winner for Alex Meier. Without singling him out, his performances left a lot to be desired after that. He was clearly out of sorts but it was not for the lack of ability, as we now know.

He didn't start the first couple of games this season but Kovač gave him his chance again, and, frankly, he's been superb.

A real fighter and worker on the pitch . . . with plenty of ability to go with it.

Our defense is set to keep us from winning feck all this season though.
