Owen isn't that bad. I haven't heard him say anything outrageous, other than being nice to Stoke.

Not if he agrees with everything the ref does like he did in this game.

Yeah I noticed this, I think perhaps he's not had long enough to distance himself from the profession, at one point after a good offside decision he slipped in a little tribute to the quality of English assistant referees ('the best assistants in the world')

Really good show on at the moment on BT Sport 1. European football talk show, with some good journos on like Julian Laurents and Raphael Honigstein.

I have never seen Sky Sports advertising the Football Leaue so heavily. FL72?

I fecking hate the fact they have referees offering their tuppance worth during games, and the mini ref-cam in the bottom left corner of the screen when showing replays of incidents. What the feck is that all about?

And how that no matter the decision.... the referee was definitely right, even before a replay was shown

They're fecking shit. Spent more time debating the penalty than commenting on the game. The studio analysts are all dogs. Owen offers nothing as a co-commentator.

I wish Sky had all the live games. Paying £12/15 for this coverage is daylight robbery. cnuts.

I've been quietly impressed, to be honest. It's not perfect and there are things to iron out, but it's a good start.

Some people will never like football coverage because they don't like negative speaking against their own team.

I like that they actually discuss the ref (his position etc.), but there's a moment when you have to let go and move on. They spent pretty much all of half-time discussing it and after full-time they picked it up again, using the exact same argument. Yes, the ref wasn't in a good position - but how about talking about why he wasn't then? Palace had the ball and was about to start attacking, so of course the ref is going to be some way up the pitch. He can't magically teleport to the edge of the area as soon as Young wins the ball. One of them (the smug looking fecker with shit hair (not Warnock), no idea who he is) also kept arguing that he can't give it unless he's 100% sure. Well, why not? He clearly made up his mind pretty quick that it was a foul, and when he couldn't get any help from the assistant surely he has to give whatever he's more sure of (even if it's just 60-40 or whatever). He had the balls to give a penalty instead of chickening out with a free kick (like most refs wouldn't given), but of course most people who's seen the replay about 50 times can now tell it was the wrong decision. I don't see any particular reason to keep going on and on about it - apart from the fact it's United, of course.

Seemed to be like they need a stronger host to control the discussion, otherwise it's going to run in rings like today.

I waited through their shitty punditry for the Moyes interview, but do they ask him about the performance of the Belgians? No, they ask him about some bullshit gossip about Gareth fecking Bale.
feck this channel. Hopefully not so many United games on it this year.

You can't have watched the same cringeworthy halftime foul demonstration I did then.

They've got some good ideas it seems. Having a ref giving his opinion on the calls is a good idea (as long as he doesn't just agree with everything) and being able to show what they're talking about in the studio at half-time isn't bad either. The small picture in the bottom showing most off-pitch stuff rather than showing it full screen is brilliant! A lot of stuff to iron out though.

McManaman is a fecking twat.

Gayle who plays for Palace mentioned that he was a United fan, then McManaman brings up "A United fan from London? strange"

Absolute idiot.

I agree, of course all Liverpool fans come from Liverpool, NOT. I don't think I will be renewing BT Sports next year, I will go back to Sky Sports. I like the Euro football and baseball, but I don't watch the build up or after match for the prem games. I watched MUTV for the build up today.

Terrible, terrible coverage. Three of the most biased anti-united pundits you could get at HT as well.

This channel is going to send me on a murderous rampage someday and it's nothing to do with them being anti-United or anything. I didn't even see any of it at half time.

Michael Owen should be paid to just shut the feck up. The close ups in the bottom left and everything to do with Mark Halsey is infuriating.

Unless Souness, Nev, Hoddle or Gullit are on I rarely bother with any punditry these days, and when I saw that BT Sport were gonna use that smug sack of shite McManaman it was a definite no no.

Thought David James came across really well. Mcmanaman is just a twat.

I don't like Warnock.
I don't like the score being at the bottom of the screen.
I don't like how they kept talking about Rugby.
I felt the 30 min analysis of the penalty was a tad over the top
I don't like the mini cam thing.

Aside from that. It's fine.
