They can always get new pundits. I'd imagine they probably couldn't get the "best" pundits with hardly any football to offer. Now they've got the La Liga package and CL I reckon they'll be able to get a few more.

For example what's the point in Sky having the Spanish pundits when they've got no football? All of them might as well go to BT really.

Yea i agree but tbh i did watch almost whole thing only when it comes to CL and PL,mostly PL.My comments regarding pundits/co-commentators were aimed at current crop of BT pundits under contract for new season. Sky isnt any better with ex Liverpool ones but for Gary and maybe Carra > everyone rest combined.

BTSportEurope channel started broadcasting today and it looks horrible. That sidebar with the fixtures and news is just retarded. And the best part they show it all the time - even when they show a replay match :wenger:

That's odd. I watched that game earlier and there was none of that on it. It was just a normal screen.

Competition is better if the playing field is even. All that's happening at the moment is that both Sky and BT are taking different aspects of the game and charger us double what we would of paid in the past for the same service.

Sooner clubs can agree there own deals the better. I'd happily pay £200 a year to cover all united games live.

The sooner that happens the sooner the divide will be even greater.

Apparently BT are getting La Liga rights as well. Sky Sports really have only the PL that's worth watching off it and that doesn't warrant nor justify the ridiculous prices they want us to pay.

The sooner that happens the sooner the divide will be even greater.

I'm sure there is a deal that could be agreed to divide the wealth. Ultimately the Premier League is now a worldwide product and the world has better access to it than people who live in the UK its ridiculous.

The argument that showing all games, even the 3pm kick-offs would destroy attendance's just isn't correct.

There should at least be a ruling where a competition isn't split between two subscription channels, have champions league on bt and all the Premier League on sky, at least then fans can decide if they want to sacrifice a competition. If you want to watch every premier league game we play your screwed currently.

Sky will have to look at reducing price of sports package if all they have to offer is Premier League. Once they had La Liga and Champions League.
Wasn't their response to losing the Champions League this season to RAISE the damn sport subscription fee?

That awfully executed Premier League competition decision from the EU will likely mean the UK consumer will always be stuck with two services if they wish to have access to all the games that are allowed to be broadcast, but for someone like myself who only cares about football, if La Liga goes as well to BT then the case to keep Sky Sports will just continue to weaken from my perspective.

Sky usually raise prices in September. But they did it in June before everyone realises they lost champions league and LA Liga.

BT sports has got every major league and champions league.

Sky have got the overhyped premier league, Dutch league and MLS.

That's pretty shocking really. BT have done some pretty impressive business on this if the rumours are accurate. I don't object too badly because I'm on BT.

I wonder how many people are going to switch to day passes on Now TV for Sky.

A relative has given me his BT Details to use, I know it's a long shot but in case any of you have the same situation...

Search 'BT Sport Web Player' into Google and providing you have a BT account, you can watch it all free of charge.

I hope they get rid of the sidebars - looks like SkySportsNews in disguise. You wanna enjoy a match u missed earlier and then they spoil it for you :annoyed:

I rang up yesterday to put Skysports back on and the wide boy operative tried to dupe me into extended my contract for a year by saying that I had to extend for a year if I wanted to put Skysports on. I called him out on it and he retreated. What a turd.

I think I'll ring them during the week to cancel to see if they will show there hand and give me half price, they done it to one of my buddies for a year.

I didn't realise that BT were in Ireland. What rights do they have there?

I will do the same, see what they and Sky will offer to win my business. Sky are a better run outfit for sure but at the end of the day it is which offers me the sport channels the cheapest.

Ireland and Britain have the same rights except setanta part of the bt subscription has the 3 o clock games.
At least our free broadcasters will be showing 2 champs league games a week, ye are getting fecked over big time with that

Ok, please someone advise me -

About a month ago I signed up to the full sky package with sports, movies, standard broadband, phone line etc. My bill is £78 per month.

It doenst come with the BT package which is an additional £19.99 per month.

The broadband is poor and i am not happy with that.

Also with everything that seems to be going on with BT gaining all champions league etc, I feel like I am missing out.

What should I do? I want the full package but for as cheap as possible. Am i contractually tied in with sky for 12 months or could I cancel the broadband/ phone line and get the BT infinity then I would be able to watch the BT sport on my sky box?

Some help please guys as I am a new home owner and money is quite tight, but wanna make sure I get the full sports for as cheap as possible (and faster broadband)

Thanks

If Sky are losing key rights shouldn't their tariff be reduced? Surely the customer won't hang around for a lesser product.

They'll argue that Sky Sports isn't just Football, and they show more sports, more often on more channels than any other provider in the UK thus they can charge what they want within reason.

The customers wont hang around though, I've already got a BT sports package even though their coverage is awful, they do have a good selection of games to watch.

Yep, I get it 'free' as a BT customer. Happy to put up with the average coverage if I can get all their stuff.

I've just left sky and moved over to Virgin. Get BT sport free with the package I signed up for and is only £45 a month including line rental, phone and 158mb fibre.

If you're tied to Sky they will really screw you and wave the contract in your face, unless you can prove lack of service. I think with broadband you should get at least 80% of the advertised speed so if it's under that you may have a way out.

Your cooling off period is only 14 days so that's out the window if your service has been activated for a month.

Your other get out is a speed significantly lower than their reported minimum;
• If your actual Access Line Speed is significantly below your Guaranteed Minimum Access Line Speed estimate provided, and if the steps we recommend cannot resolve the problem, you can leave your contract without penalty within 3 months of your broadband activation in accordance with Ofcom’s Voluntary Code of Practice on Broadband Speeds.

I'm on virgin for years and about to cancel my tv. is that deal you mentioned half price for 6 months, then doubles after? that's what the site advertise

I have just checked and its only been active for 12 days,

The problem is if i cancel now will the internet just stop? The missus works from home so need to make sure that if i cancel it, she isnt without the internet for prolonged period.

How long would I be without it?

I think it makes sense to keep the package i am on but remove the internet and go with BT inifinty fibre which includes the bt sport that I can watch on my sky hd box? agreed?

If the internet is shit then cancel it now while you can still do it 'no questions asked'.

If you get BT Infinity you can then add BT Sport to your Sky channels for £5 (plus £3 for HD).

You need to check you can actually get Infinity though first, if your Sky broadband is that bad it might be that fibre isn't connected where you are.

Complain, complain, complain, complain. The more you complain the better chance you have on getting away from them. Do this regularly for a few weeks then threaten to cancel the direct debit and go to Ofcom. If they don't reduce you package price or give you a better service then do it and request a deadlock letter. Ofcom will likely side with you as the problems have occurred from the beginning of your service but I doubt Sky would let it go that far.

I've got it half price for 12 months, on a 18 month contract. Had a leaflet through the post but the deal seems to have changed now. Even at full price it's cheaper than Sky and has far superior internet speeds, hopefully that will make up for the lack of Sky Sports... ;)

What do you think of Virgin? A bit nervous, was with Sky for 8 years...

You should call them up while you're in this 12 day period and threaten to cancel everything if they don't give you the 50% discount that they're offering to new customers signing up now. Do it immediately and make sure to let them know you're within the cooling off period and that you're extremely unhappy with the service and the price especially if less than 2 weeks later they are offering 50% off for the same package you are on!

Just get her a wireless usb internet dongle in the meantime (often faster too!)

Yes, do this. I got my Sky TV package a month ago with 50% off on a £67 package including Sports and Entertainment and HD. They didnt give me the discount over the phone, but they advised to me to chat with a Sky rep, who almost immediately offered me 50% off.

And I have BT broadband for the BT sports.

Or just use her/your phone as a hotspot if you have the allowance. If she's only doing work stuff then it won't use much of your monthly allowance unless she's a YouTube prankster, because that's different story altogether when it comes to bandwidth!

virgins broadband is really good, I think regarded as the best. i'll be keeping that regardless. With the tv packages you can haggle them for better deals if you speak on the phone, but you always need to speak one on one. its all about new customers though

I've a way to get around that with Sky at least. I get service at my address and then to get a good deal (if they won't offer it to me) cancel it and get a new subscription at my sisters address. Once that's installed just get the viewing card and that's that. After 12 months cancel that and I'd be classed as a new customer at my address again :)

What are they offering new customers??
