BT Sport

I agree, haven't found a decent service that works consistently in ages.
It isn't that hard, I have done hours of research on the subject, a quick google search will bring up the basics of how to watch the legal streams that are location restricted, I have used 2 of the main 3 and the quality has been great, plus I use two not so legal ones and they are great too (one is no longer accepting subs though) then there's kodi/xbmc, which I'm not a fan of but others are.

The only way to get it free, for now at least is to take BT television as well as the broadband. As I have freeview, Sky and a Smart TV why would I want to take that as well? I could reduce my Sky right down to basic, but then would have to do piles of add on for BT to get kids channels. It is doing my head in. I will probably just get rid of Sky HD and BT HD and the boxsets to cover the cost of the CL and Europa League coverage.
Cheapest way to keep kids entertained is Netflix, there's vast quantities of cartoons on there.

I have that already, which is another reason not to get BT. I have it on the Smart TV. My little boy is always watching Pokemon and has just discovered the joy of Power Rangers.

I keep meaning to sit down and go through our TV package to figure out if there is a better combo for us as I'mmcertainly not getting good value for money as is. We have Netflix and Unlocator so I get the different libraries from all over the world, most current TV shows I just acquire from EZTV (we're usually way ahead of the UK episodes). All we really use Sky for is my sport watching and a few random shows for MrsP (which usually get added to my d/l list once she decides she likes them).

It's more the recording of stuff that would be a problem. No Sky and if the shows I like are not on Netflix, it would then mean forking out for a freeview recorder.

Who else is on Virgin media? How will this affect us as customers..? It's getting ridiculous now, they announce this to people at home like it's a good thing when it really isn't. I assumed Sky having lost the european football would knock their price but no they hiked it up by £2 a month to Virgin customers from June, a pound more than Sky customers. Virgin customers are already getting rinsed by Sky, If BT do the same and add another 5 a month for the same shit I've been watching all year then I'm done. I'll just stream it or take my arse down to the pub.

I think there is a basic box, which you can pause. However if you want to be able to record stuff then there is another box. My mum had one for a while, but it kept crashing. It was a bloody nuisance. I presume the technology is better now.

That's the problem. People say go with BT and it's free but I don't know anybody in my area that can actually get BT TV to work.

Because in the UK access to eztv is blocked, Tor browser saves a load of hassle.
Ah gotcha. I was going to say, thats not really going to help keep you anonymous. I just use that Zenmate (always disable after), although I think I would prefer a dedicated browser for it.

This is so crazy.

From what I have worked out so far:

If anyone wants to downgrade/change their package, here is the link: http://www.bt.com/downgrade ... Note you can add BT TV for free (£35 activation fee) and get BT Sport (full) for free for 12 months

However, if you "downgrade" you will be signed up to another 12 month contract. To get around that, follow the advice here: https://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Spor...or-BT-Sport-for-the-15-16/td-p/1492621/page/9

Note; you get full BT Sport if you get BT TV... even if you cant watch BT Sport on BT TV in your area (this is what I have).

I can get BT TV, but it won't let me watch BT Sport as you need something called "multicast" enabled. To get them to add BT TV without changing BT Sport though, you may have to talk to them

I am, but I'm looking at a move to BT, we can't get sky here. Virgin slowly ratchet up the price over time, this can only mean another price rise. it's now ridiculously expensive for me, what started as £90 a month for the TV,Broadband,Phone (that we don't use) package, is now £112 a month two years later. I'm sure I can get a better deal from BT. Also the Virgin service isn't great, multiple outages of broadband, one of them for a week.

They've basically ruined the CL for the next few years. The massive cnuts.

Just been through the process of actually KEEPING the free sport and it is indeed confusing. I have broadband and TV through BT already, so it was obvious enough to click through that I wanted the free sport. But when I arrived at the order page, I was presented with both the options - free for as long as the contract OR free until August and then £5, I think. Had to make sure I read that through.

Fibre still hasn't been enabled here (though work is ongoing) so I will be changing contracts again shortly anyway. Massive faff.

Virgin slowly ratchet up the price over time,

BT do the same and I was very surprised to receive an email from them saying that if I want to watch the Champions League then I will have to pay £5 extra per month or renew my contract with them for 18 months to receive it free! I had signed up for 18 months of free sports channels 12 months ago!

I can't decide if I should just pay the £5 and be contract free in December and free to make a move then.

Be assured though, BT will creep up your bill as well. They are a shower of.........

There should be one price for all channels, yet another case of rip off UK

If you signed up for 18 months of free channels 12 months ago then surely that's what you're entitled to. They simply can't change the terms of your contract.

It's crazy that BT Sports now have the Champions league, and seemingly Sky Sports are losing the rights to everything because they're pumping all their money into the Premier League.

The regulators majorly fecked this up, by forcing the premier league to break up the rights into packages has basically meant we are paying multiple providers, I don't feel as a consumer better off.

Nothing to do with money for premier league, BT caught Sky unawares by bidding 3 times more than the previous sky deal was, the auctions are blind and sky underestimated BTs opening bid

Got this by email from BT Sport:

So it is a £5 increase. £240 a year. Crazy prize for what you get :mad::mad:

Sky should surely be dropping their prices with losing the CL, but no doubt it'll stay the same?

Of course it'll stay the same, it's Sky we're talking about. £40+ per month plus more adverts than anyone else

It'll be going up rather than down before the 2016/17 season starts - they've got to pay for the new multi-billion pound premier league deal somehow.

It's £23.99 with HD. But I rang them and they giving me £5 off per month, if I join for another 12 months, so I suggest you try that @Niall. As that's what they given to everyone on the digitalspy forum. You don't need to have HD to get the discount. My bill without HD would be £14.99, but I opted for it as its only £4 extra a month. I also get two months HD free.

Shit, that is a lot for just CL footy, knowing me I'll cave in soon enough and pay....

I had a conversation with them on Saturday and ended up telling them to feck off and cancel everything.

I'll either stream the matches they show or watch them round my folks or something.

Fans get hosed again.

Also Sky have already raised the prices.

http://www.theguardian.com/money/2015/mar/19/sky-raises-sports-and-entertainment-package-prices

They usually do it in September, but they done it in June. Obviously in September a lot of people will ask where is CL football. La Liga rights are still up for grabs.

But I usually sign up to Sky as a new customer every year and get 50% off for the past 4 years. Now I am getting these emails for my other accounts to come back every month.

How do you manage that? I thought the address had to have been Sky-free for like 6 months or something?

I guess not as I sign up under a different name every time. They aren't really bothered about that as long as they get you as a subscriber.

Also confirmation of the offer that I am getting from BT. Obviously the £13.50 will go up to £19.99.

So ring them to ask what offers they have for you.
