I don't have a laptop, so jokes on you.Agreed. When I spot a pain in the behind on here, the first thing I do is note their total number of comments & divide them by the days they've been a full member. It often delivers the conclusion that they are a billy no mates who live on their lap-tops.
And I think they very much put off people from making more regular contributions. Is that what the 'caf' want from their 'moderators'?

Who is the one making petty little personal digs? If you don't like me put me on ignore. I've never interacted with you at all, but it's clear I'd never want to.One of whom makes it his reason for living, on every thread he can manage.
Here's a question. You agree we should sign another centre back, so all things being equal (ie availability, impact on spend on other areas unaffected, the player is happy to come and fight for his place etc), what kind of centre back should we go ideally go for? One who is better than what we have, as good as what we have, or worse than what we have?
I never said we should look to go signing players all of the same ability either, I just said doing so isn't a worse idea than signing worse ones, but is in fact preferable.I know I said to move on, but out of politeness I'm going to answer the question.
I think we should be aiming for the best centre back we can get. Mainly because I don't think the ones we have will ever provide us with the central defensive partnership we should be aiming for. I could be wrong, but I don't see two of Evans, Smalling or Jones ever being a good enough first choice pairing. Like I said, I agree with your desire for a stronger backline. That's not the issue.
And you never said get four players of the quality I mentioned, but you did suggest having players of equal ability. This only works for a while because either you have a settled defence and risk upsetting quality players or you rotate to keep everyone happy and risk consistency in your back line.
I really do think we need to move on from this though.
Nice oneJust an average joe, same as you, difference being I'm not a sad bar-steward who lives on here, trolling other users.

I'm not alone am I, troll. I've taken the time to read a few, just a few of your posts & there's a clear pattern. While making valid points, you simply cannot abide anyone else offering an opposing opinion, hence mine & others clearly labelling you a rather sad individual.I never said we should look to go signing players all of the same ability either, I just said doing so isn't a worse idea than signing worse ones, but is in fact preferable.
I agree though, we should let it be here. It's a tedious argument and one I wish I hadn't allowed myself to getting dragged into.
Depends. Different ways to look at it. I sometimes doubt posters who average 1-2 posts per day and pop up only on particular moments in particular type of threads talking crap. More of an indication of a troll.
I know. Just checking how many posts per day I make. I think I'm above my average rate for the day so I'm lurking for the rest of the day.
It says I like the place and enjoy posting here, because that's what I signed up to do. I have a perfectly happy life, and don't find myself at all sad.I'm not alone am I, troll. 3 years a full member, averaging 30 posts a day - says it all.
And you're just the man to do it?Can be very true I agree but when someone (not you), makes it their full time job to antagonise & patronise the valid contributions of others, I think they need taking down a peg.
I'd like to know the sweet spot, to be honest. Just between "somewhat sad wanker" and "hasn't seen daylight in weeks".People keep checking their post counts to ensure they keep within their daily limit? What the hell![]()

Behave yourself. If you want to continue this nonsense, pm me or something. You're taking this thread more off track than anyone to date. At least before it was actually a discussion about our centre back options and how best to address them going forward. If you have an issue with me either pm me, report me or ignore me. Pick whichever one suits you best.
I feel like I've been taken down a peg. Well, maybe not a full one. Can you be taken down a half peg?"..need taking down a peg" made me chuckle but I thought it is best not to respond and further aid in derailing of the thread![]()

How do I get back up onto the higher peg though? That's now my mission.

You should really keep track of your posts per day and bring it down to less than 5 per day. That's the only way to get back up.
Both good points. I knew I liked* you both for a good reason.I'm sure the guy will pop in to tell you in a week or so once he's lurked enough to compensate for posting too much today.
Anyways, the thread's all over the place now. Just ignore them and move on.
Who is this guy?Seems to be alot on non related Bruno Matins Indi stuff above, but back to the player I think for a relatively modest-ish fee he is well worth it, already bought into the LvG philosophy, and an able if not spectacular defender, not sure of his injury record, but can't be any worse than our current CB's.
Would be a good back up, as I don't rate Smalling, and Evans is too often injured, but we'd still need another top defender to come in to partner a hopefully more often fit, and not played out of position Phil Jones.
If most are on here are honest, the only time we see these players are occasional highlights of the CL and tournaments. If I landed from the planet Zar, I wouldn't believe the Spanish keeper is one of the most decorated players in the history of football on that performance.
Too early for me to say and I'm relying on our Dutch supporters to whether they think he's good enough.....
Who is this guy?
Ah Jesus, I didn't even realised you'd misspelled it!Surely you have something better to do than pull me up on that?
Ah Jesus, I didn't even realised you'd misspelled it!
I was joking because he hadn't been discussed in here for so long. Damn bad luck and coincidence!
I genuinely didn't see the spelling, even when I bolded itMy bad, thought you we're been very picky as I was only one letter out!
It's always hard to gauge what someone is meaning on these forums!

Don't ask! It's this new newbie madness. Some of the new ones I've seen over the last 3 or 4 months have to be the worst. What the hell is rotation risk btw?
So posting thirty times a day makes you sad? I could post that if there is a good discussion going as I'd be on my phone and tablet.

Zouma had started 17 games last year 7 as sub and had started in Europe and French Cup. He was banned for 10 games this year. I don't think that can classify as backup.
He reckoned he'd be part of their first team squad. The discussion was between Zouma and Michael Keane, and whether they'd both hold the same role within their respective squads next season.
I think he's right really. Zouma is going to be part of Chelsea's first team next year. Like Jones and Smalling who had little experience with Blackburn and Fulham respectively but had like 30-40 games in their first season.
Zouma has experience, although not in England and being young but I can see him take part in Chelsea's team next season with Terry being older and probably more injury prone. Keane is highly unlikely to feature in the first team next season (maybe League cup if not loaned out).
Their roles are totally different...
I know it's pointless even bringing it up, but it is a bit annoying clicking into a thread, hoping to get some insight into a player you know little about, and finding little to no content related to said player. Why can't arguments be carried by private message?
Tipped him to be a Manchester United player next season in a couple of Van Gaal and dutch player topics over the last months.
22 year old Left footed centre-half who can also fill in at left back. Was a favourite of Van Gaal during the qualifiers. I'd say there's a big chance he'll play in the Holland defense in Brazil. Benfica tried to sign him last winter.
He's comfortable on the ball, pretty good passing. He's big, strong, not the fastest, but not slow either. His heading has to adapt to the Premier League, but he's a natural defender. Has had his ups and downs at Feyenoord, but age and all other things considered, he did very well there. Looks like a potential Benfica/Tottenham player at least, he might become even better over the years.
Will be interesting to see if Van Gaal takes him with him to United. He is available on the cheap (max 10 million pounds I'd say), has international experience, would be the left footed player in defense we almost surely going to get. Considering his age and the fact that he has played a lot of matches professionally already, I imagine him having no problems playing second fiddle behind Jones, Smalling, Evans, or filling in as a second or 3th choice left back.
