Bruno Martins Indi

I know it's pointless even bringing it up, but it is a bit annoying clicking into a thread, hoping to get some insight into a player you know little about, and finding little to no content related to said player. Why can't arguments be carried by private message?

Tipped him to be a Manchester United player next season in a couple of Van Gaal and dutch player topics over the last months.

22 year old Left footed centre-half who can also fill in at left back. Was a favourite of Van Gaal during the qualifiers. I'd say there's a big chance he'll play in the Holland defense in Brazil. Benfica tried to sign him last winter.

He's comfortable on the ball, pretty good passing. He's big, strong, not the fastest, but not slow either. His heading has to adapt to the Premier League, but he's a natural defender. Has had his ups and downs at Feyenoord, but age and all other things considered, he did very well there. Looks like a potential Benfica/Tottenham player at least, he might become even better over the years.

Will be interesting to see if Van Gaal takes him with him to United. He is available on the cheap (max 10 million pounds I'd say), has international experience, would be the left footed player in defense we almost surely going to get. Considering his age and the fact that he has played a lot of matches professionally already, I imagine him having no problems playing second fiddle behind Jones, Smalling, Evans, or filling in as a second or 3th choice left back.

I really don't see the point of bringing in another centre back who is more or less at the same stage of his development as Smalling and Jones to be honest.

It says I like the place and enjoy posting here, because that's what I signed up to do. I have a perfectly happy life, and don't find myself at all sad.

If you feel being involved in the place and the discussions here, and being rather well liked by a lot of regulars, sad, then that's your call.

I'm kind of a big deal. People know me. You, I don't ever recall seeing your name. Hope you enjoy the site.
I only did A Level Psychology but a real expert would have a field day with that last sentence of yours.

And you're just the man to do it?

Behave yourself. If you want to continue this nonsense, pm me or something. You're taking this thread more off track than anyone to date. At least before it was actually a discussion about our centre back options and how best to address them going forward. If you have an issue with me either pm me, report me or ignore me. Pick whichever one suits you best.
I know the content of the thread - I started it, so I feel some justification in supporting the others who you've targeted with your psychotic vitriol.

 You're a weird one. If you must take this further, do so via pm. I won't be engaging with you further, I'm in work and only have a limited amount of time (and posts) with which to post on here. I don't want to waste any more posts on you. Report me or ignore me, whichever pleases you most.

That'll haunt your dreams. Thankfully, he's "only" concussed.

Martins-Indi and Jones tandem would probably scare the shit out of any forward and may end up being involved in one of Steven King's books

Gung-ho was the impression i gained of him, possibly due to playing the 3 at the back though. In the first game he looked like he was given license to go forward into a 'DM' sort of role which didn't really help him or the team and he was putting in a poor performance.

Just a little update: he got himself a concussion against Australia. Seems to have recovered, might play against Mexico.

Benfica wanted to sign BMI last winter and stories in the Dutch press have been that FC Porto were in for him last week. Apperently he/his agent refused the deal because of wages and Bruno wanting to play in a big league like the premiership.

Porto are stock pilled with defenders if this deal goes through.. make that Mangala, Rolando, Maicon and the young Mexican Reyes.. Martins Indi surely coming in to replace one of those? Most likely Mangala?

Mangala is off I reckon. Still, they got a good young player for a great price. They will most likely sell him for £30m in a few years knowing Porto.

If Porto want him a the more reason to hijack the deal tbh.

Looks like the deal to Porto is just about done, so I don't think we can hijack it, but who knows. Feyenoord is pretty eager to make a deal because one normal transfer would mean they're out of dept and their preseason training has already started, so the sooner they know who's leaving, the better they can prepare for next season.

Earlier in the week they were reporting that it had stalled because of wages and BMI wanting to play in a big league. But Porto probably play in the CL, he's born in Portugal, speaks Portugese and it's a respectable club.

Between Bruno and Vermaelen I think it wouldn't really matter who we would get (not sure if we are getting Vermaelen obviously), so it's not the end of the world, plus if Van Gaal really wanted Bruno, we would've gotten him. Still, 8.5 million euro or 6.8 million pounds is a very good deal for a player like him.

If you want him, get ready to pay a big hefty fee. He's doing well at Porto and just got there. Porto are no mugs.

I have been saying that we need two centre backs. One experianced and one up and coming. Indi wont sort anything out himself, and as the post above said, he would cost a buck if hes done good once he's moved.

Wouldn't make any sense to spend a furtune on him now, when we could have had him with relative ease just 6 months ago.

If we wanted him we should've gone for him before he moved to Porto. Maybe LVG thought our defender situation wouldn't be this bad.

He looked clumsy to me in the WC, if we want a young CB Laporte looks a calmer, more cultured option.

God, I hope not. I've watched him enough times to give a fair judgement. Looks clumsy to me, and his positioning seems very suspect. If we're going to get a centre back, he needs to be an established one. Preferably someone with leadership skills and bags of experience, who can guide the rest of our youngish centre backs.

He seems to do a lot better with his club then the national team. He's an absolute horror show in Oranje but he was good in his last year at Feyenoord and by all accounts has done well enough at Porto thus far.

Personally I wouldn't go for him even if the fee was reasonable. I don't think it would really solve the defensive problems at United.

I'm sure we'd love to deal with Bilbao again.

There's no "dealing" to be done with them. We'll just give Laporte the amount required for the buy-out clause, inclusive of the legal shenanigans, and get Laporte to pass the money to the club.

At least, that's how it has always been done with him for the players they don't want to sell.

I'd rather not. He's okay in my book, but not the solution we need. Made a few mistakes the last times I saw him play with Holland and in general, is too young and inexperienced (in my opinion) to be the solution for our defensive problems.

I think f365 sum this up rather well

UNITED WANT MARTINS INDI...
Another day, another rumour involving Louis van Gaal signing a defender he took to the World Cup last summer.

At least this is a name that hasn't really been mentioned since the summer, with The Sun claiming that Manchester United will pay £10m in January to bring Bruno Martins Indi to the club.

In fairness, it's a pretty ballsy claim given that Martins Indi only joined Porto in the summer for around £6m. Surely Van Gaal would have just bought the defender then if he was interested?

Secondly, if Porto sell a first-team player after just six months, they are unlikely to be happy with making a £4m profit.

Why the hell would we try sign him after passing up the chance in the summer!?
