Bruno Fernandes | United not interested due to doubts over passing ability

Duncan Castles and a City ITK said similar.

Why does anyone think we are about to sign him? There is no indication whatsoever ?

The difference between us and City is that their DOF will have been in constant contact with them and his agent, letting him know he's more than welcome there, talking about the package deal they have for him, where he'll be staying when he first moves over, who speaks Portuguese in the squad etc.

We've got Woodward who will come in cold with a contract offer that's probably more than City's and just say 'we're United, sign it'. He hasn't got the time with his current commitments to be keeping tabs on players.

City getting their business done early again because they have a DOF that's most likely been in contact with the player and his reps throughout the season, planning the move.

Meanwhile, Woody's busy sorting out another sponsorship deal and we still haven't identified targets yet.

Just get to feck please?

Hope you have re-gathered yourself now? Wonder how we’ve managed to sign any players at all over the last 6 years, including a few ahead of City, and Dalot ahead of just about everyone, without a DOF who knows how to speak to an agent!

More like £60-£70m.

He's a good player, learned his trade in Italy so can read the game tactically very well. Absolutely bossed the midfield for Sporting this season and has been their standout player in many games. He won't take the PL immediately but he will definitely be a success here. Probably something akin to Fabinho?

£60-70m would be absolute insanity so I'll be expecting us to pay that.

There is nothing really to suggest we are in for him.

Sporting have been trying to use City's name to drum up interest - they may now start doing the same with us. Probably another Gaitan.

That poster you quoted is the king of talking out of the side of his neck. He invents stories and argues about them as if they were fact.

Still fuming about it. Our transfer policy is scattergun and seems to be last minute panic buys or big names that are *easy to identify. Not at any point have we looked to do any smart or shrewd business, which leads me to believe we simply don’t value it.

Bruno has 9 Man Of The Match awards from 39 games (31 in the League and 8 in Europa), that means in 25% games he played, he was the best player on the pitch. We need game changers and this guy has 27 goals and 14 assists this season according to whoscored. If he can get us half those numbers, he’ll be massive for us
31 goals and 17 assists is the correct number.

Maybe @SportingCP96 can let us know. From what I seen he has a good passing range and first touch so can hold the ball up, also being in the middle he can surge forward and still get into scoring positions.
He definitely is technically good on the ball and has good passing range along with a fantastic shooting ability. His assist numbers are a testament to his ability to make chances for his teammates and his surging runs into the box along with his ability to shoot from distance and dead ball situations mean he offers you another goal scoring option. He has an engine on him and can run up and down the field the full 90 with the same energy and intensity similar to that of Bernardo Silva. He is also tactically sound and a very intelligent player (I think he will become a coach after he is done playing) and is a coaches dream to coach.

Sporting have reportedly decided to sell and have been throwing City's name around to make a market for the player.

They may now try to do more of the same again and throw our name in the mix.

File under 'Gaitan'.
I highly doubt Sporting want to sell the best player in the league with the European championships just around the corner where if he plays well his pice will only go up.

This is what stands out to me more than anything else. We probably have far less intensity than any other team in the league.

Some people think one has to be a CEO or a professional football analyst to make statements as these.

This reflects extremely well on Duncan Castles.

He will run up and down the field for you all game believe that. He just pushes his team forward and is a natural born leader.

His profile looks complete!!

Anything above 50m would be a terrible deal for us. Far better options out there for 60- 70 m range.

Like who? Fekir will cost you 80M besides him who else would get in that position for a better value for money.

Are there any actual reports we’re in for him or are we just presuming so because City bailed?

Castles, who said on his podcast that he'd be very surprised if he was coveted by City, has said we are in for him. So yes.

Not really, he’s a good player and €60m is the new €30m these days. He’s not going to return 20 goals a season but he’ll improve the squad and is cheaper than someone like Neves who Wolves want £70m for.

We need to ditch our Spanish contingent and buy us some Portuguese players. They seem to done well in the EPL. We had Ronaldo and Nani. Bernardo Silva, Moutinho, Neves, Pereira and Jota have all been a success. We have been linked to Bruno, Felix and Ruben Diaz. Sign them all up. Even other nationalities who have moved here from the Portuguese League have done well like Ederson, Lindelof, Jimenez, etc.

So £49m is a good deal and £50m would be terrible right

I love seeing all the financial experts talk about the transfer fees on here

So you ignored the bit were we over pay players and over pay for them? Thats how woody is getting it done, and look at the state of us now because of that.

Fekir was available for 55- 60 m last year. Dybala is available for 75-80m .
50M in todays market is a steal for a player of his quality. What happens if you spend half of the money you get from Pogba on dybala and he ends up being a bust. Or a di Maria 2.0?

This is baseless, and retrospective because the team and players haven’t been great.

We have done business early in many summers. Post Fergie - Herrera and Shaw were done and dusted early. Depay before the season finished. Dalot still in May. Lindelöf similar. Bailly similar. Fred similar.

This sounds like the ramblings of an emotional teen. The signings of Bailly, Fred, Lindelöf, Herrera, Martial, Dalot have been nothing close to obvious or scattergun. These are obviously scouted players, that we signed early in an attempt to try and steal a march on the competition. I suspect a few of them you had never heard of before we signed them. At the time, they were called ‘typical Manchester United signings’, and ‘the type of signings that excite me most, not the big names’ and all the other rhetoric. In short, you are talking absolutely baselessly (which is putting it politely). We have adopted a broad strategy in terms of signing big names, highly touted young talents and also obscure players following extensive scouting reports. You, yourself, have no clue what you mean when you put it all down to us ‘not having a DoF’, and are simply regurgitating caf rhetoric. Seems you don’t know what you actually want from the market, except that you want our signings to work and our team to good. Like the rest of us.

I ignored all validity of the post as it was clearly nonsense.

if his release clause is 35m then it's really non brainer. Better than almost any other midfielder in the club currently.
