Well sometimes you just know by looking at a player play.
Like when we got Ronaldo and after his debut against Bolton i just knew he would become world class.
When i saw Kevin de Bruyne in germany i also got the same feeling.
Same as van Dijk at southamptom it was easy to see he was going to be world class.
We will see, give Bruno 2 years at a top club and everyone wish they had him.
What do we need scouts for we ought to just consult you.

No one has been sold. So we have 100m - 50m - 20m = 30m in the kitty. Not enough for the quality of player we're after. A sensible CEO would've sold Darmian, Rojo & Lukaku for whatever he could get ~ 90m. Then we'd have 120m in our kitty & would be able to get at least 1, possibly 2 more in.
Meanwhile, oblivious to the evidence, fan thought leaders still promote the idea that United are the biggest club in the world and money is no object.

I do like the look of him, so good with the ball and want to see him in our team shoot from outside of the box with others picking up the rebounds. Perhaps could teach Rashford how to shoot as well.

Nope you're right.We have one recognized CDM: Matic, who is not good enough. CDM would be my priority to fix. We have 3 × #10s: Mata, Andreas, Angel.

The poster listed DM and CM separately, so that goes without saying. There's a real dearth in creativity in this squad, with Pogba the only real top class talent we have in this department. Having an additional creater in the mix who can score goals and works his bollocks off is very appealing to the fanbase.

Ole sees these players as good enough and so do I. We dont need another midfielder.. we need more creativity. We only have Lingard and Mata who play centrally.

Very appealing to me too. I have no problem playing McTominay at #6, but I'm not confident with Matic & we need 2 players in each position. We need to move Lukaku, Darmian, Rojo, Matic out ASAP. Get about £100m for them. Add that to the £30m left over from the initial £100m kitty. Bring in a CDM & Box2box (Fernandes).
This is why United need a DoF - so we will never need to buy 6 first team starters in one summer ever again. Board only have themselves to blame for appointing The Anointed One and letting him buy Lukaku, Fred, Sanchez & Matic. Mourinho 's plan was not going to work because all the extra TV money made PL more competitive & the average quality of player in other teams improved a lot. That development left Mourinho panting in mid-race. The quality he brought here was not MUQ and not PL-winning material.
Well look into context. What top 10 teams need a #10 with the goal scoring attributes he has?
1. United have Pogba.
2. Madrid have spent insane money on proven world class players so they are good
3. Barca the same as Madrid
4. Atlético don’t play with that type of player and signed Felix.
5. Bayern are good there as well.
6. Arsenal he would fit like a glove but they have cut funds
7. Chelsea have a transfer ban
8. City have an abundance of options
9. Liverpool have made it clear they are not signing anyone.
10. Juve don’t need him as they have options.
The list goes on.
I don’t think it’s a testament to his quality but rather the teams you are talking about are already set at that position or like arsenal and Chelsea don’t have funds and has a ban.
Just how similar are Pogba and Fernandes in playstyle, though, could they play in the same team?
From the little I have seen of Fernandes, he strikes me as a conventional, box-to-box midfielder in the mould of Yaya Toure or someone of that ilk.
The days of just rhyming off the traditional big spenders is over. Napoli are said to be finalising an 80 million euro transfer for Pepe.Newcastle with a chairman as tight as a ducks arse just splashed 40 million quid on a striker. Atletico splashing crazy money on Felix. Even Spurs talking about big transfers. Leicester turning their noses up at a 70 million quid bid on a player that cost them around 17 million 2 seasons ago. So called smaller clubs have money these days. Big clubs are always looking at upgrades no matter who they have in place, and teams outside the traditional top teams in big leagues can afford these types of players nowadays.
He for sure plays best as the point in the midfield. The guy further up the pitch. He can be confused as a box to box mid because of his work rate and tenacity to get back. I said at the start of the thread I can’t see them playing together because they are both more offensive then defensive. Bruno’s goal awareness and ability to score and create chances from 30 yards out means he is wasted further back in the pitch. He is the first player to begin the press and as shown In the game against Liverpool he has no problem tracking back.
With United interest in Savic that strikes me that maybe they want Pogba playing further up the pitch which negates the need to spend 70M on Fernandes.
At Sporting he always played as the closest midfielder to the striker. From the 18 to 25 yard line his shots are almost automatic.

That's a shame because our midfield lost a lot of its bite and tenacity when Herrera left the club. We need a suitable replacement before the season kicks off and I was hoping Fernandes was the one. But if he's too similar to Pogba, who has seemingly decided to stay, then I guess it would be a waste of time and money to pursue him.
I struggle to think of a Herrera replacement who is both available and of a similar standard.
McTominay can do that job.
He is only similar in the fact that I think they are both offensive minded.
Bruno’s work rate is much higher then Pogbas as is his defensive contribution. He is not at all like Herrera though in play style.
Then you have to decide who you want as the main creative player on your team. A more goal oriented player in Bruno Fernandes or a more creative player in Pogba.
With that being said Pogba is the better player of the two.
Easily. Once McSauce gets used to his crazy height growth, he'll also be bbetter than Herrera with his feet.
Certainly not his touch, Herrera’s was immaculate. If he continues this progression with his passing though he’ll certainly be a huge assist, certainly far more than I envisioned.
I’d say you’ve forgotten how Pogba goes missing defensively when in a midfield 2. Lacks the concentration to track runners and kinda jogs back when we lose the ball. It’s been tried and it failed, he needs a less restrictive role in the midfield.
Plus we’ve been strongly linked to 2 players who’d be better in a midfield 2. But who knows what the transfer strategy really is or whom we have or haven’t bid for...

Pogba has played in a 2 and hasn't been as bad as people have made out in my opinion. The tour for instance. He has still had the freedom to play further forward and roam with Mctominay doing the leg work and it's worked. The teams ability to adapt to different situations during the game has been suspect in recent years but there is no reason it cant change for us. It's working so far. Also, for France in a 3 man midfield, Matuidi can easily go missing with his constant pressing and roaming that Pogba generally 'drops back in' and then is set to start attacks once the team is in possession. He has done that very well for France. For us he has had the burden of trying to create everything. This isn't the case in our new setup.
Time will tell but Ole has set Pogba up in a midfield 2 and It looks good.
The reason I made the comments I made in the last post is because every one is saying we need this and that, while not taking into account we are playing a different formation all together and that the midfield has a different dimension than in a 433, so why would Ole be thinking we need a DM when we dont play with one!
Only if that’s what you want to believe. Being selective in what stories you assume have some substance to them can create that narrative.
Matic, Fred and McTominay. All played there last season and have done in pre-season. Lingard and Mata have been our two most prominent no.10s so far in pre-season. We have numbers for every position, the quality is just not there. It’s much of a muchness really for all the problem positions. I was only responding to the ridiculous notion that we are ‘screaming out’ for a centre midfielder (Pogba’s role, essentially, going by pre-season) but it’s baffling if we’re looking to bring in a no.10 (Mata or Lingard’s role, going by pre-season). So ignoring Matic’s role, which position needs to be upgraded - Pogba’s or Lingard’s?
