Some one get the flight tracker out!
What we can afford and what the board are willing to give us are two very different things. we could afford to do what madrid have done this summer, and for sure we were in more dire need of doing so.
£200m each summer isnt beyond our means, even under FFP. the board will be looking to go for the Tottenham approach of spending as little as possible, I'll bet it really frustrates them that they are comfortably finishing top 4 and spending peanuts each season.
Mourinho must have fought hard to get the funds he did, as soon as it hit the rocks he was gone. ole is perfect for pushing the 'spend minimum, keep the fans onside, promote youth' mantra. The end result is record dividend paid to our shareholders, the greed knows no bounds.
Edit: consider this a meltdown
Dybala can sore a few. He had 22 in 26 starts and 7 starts in 2017/18. At the rate of a goal every 107 minutes quite impressive.Bruno is better option. He gets the goals and assists whilst also we won't have to deviate from the tactical set up our manage wants. If we get dybala as the team changes over the years it will always be hard to find him a spot in the team similar to what has happened to him in Juve
Only thing is Tottenham got to a Champions League final by spending as little as possible which I see highly doubtful for us. We'll be lucky to even qualify for the Champions League if we follow that approach. What we can afford and what the board are willing to give us are two very different things. we could afford to do what madrid have done this summer, and for sure we were in more dire need of doing so.

Definitely, and I love the fact that he's a midfield goalscorer, but I don't think we should necessarily bank on the fact he'd score quite as many with us. At Sporting he's the focal point and outright best player, which wouldn't necessarily be the case with us. Dybala meanwhile has a strong goalscoring record going back several seasons with Juventus and Palermo before, and I don't think he deserves to be judged on last season when he was shifted out to the right. You are aware of how many goals Bruno Fernandes scores last year, right?
I’ve not really seen him but he certainly sounds like a more suitable option.
I don’t understand your final point though. Dybala has been on the bench this season because they had the opportunity to bring in a better player for his position and took it. Prior to that he was the star of the team, off the back of three successful seasons.
More like trapped in the zipper at the moment.Cocks out?
Of course we do, we're just not going to over pay for players anymore.
Amazed at how much life people still seem to be able to pump into this lifeless corpse of a transfer.
Because it would make too much sense.
After todays news he simply has to be signed now because Utd need to respond to what Arsenal have done
According to credible English sources we have not been linked to any players except maybe Maguire. The club seems to be perfectly fine with what we have now. Fans here want what's good for the club and are being optimistic that we will sign someone that will improve us, but as days goes by it seems a lot unlikelier.Has there ever been a credible story from the english side (BBC / Peach) that we even looked at him? All I remember is plenty of Portuguese journos and some random AC Milan ITK claiming we were serious. Every Portuguese update is "MUFC preparing to bid any minute now to make it official"
200m net spent on a turnover of 630m is bad for United's finances.200m net spend each summer is way way out of our, or anyones means. If we had 200 million to invest yearly we’d sign everyone, all the time.
The club is trying not to get fleeced in the market. Trust in the process.
For reference: Im a finance guy, numbers is my thing.
200m net spent on a turnover of 630m is bad for United's finances.
Yet it wasn't bad for United to be landed with 700m worth of debt when turnover was around 200mil a year.
Handling debt very well=virtually no capital spent since the takeover. Its a question about debt structure.
The club is handling its debt very well and turning a profit. But net spend of 200m in a fiscal year would have to come from the clubs on-book finances plus fiscal surplus. We can do that for 2 years but after that we’re living on creditors bill
Ever stopped to think it’s a smart move keeping a low profile on transfers these days?According to credible English sources we have not been linked to any players except maybe Maguire. I would not take the BBC/guardian being silent as proof we aren't in for him.
Does a player who has a contract have to say he wants to stay?
Incidentally there were 'quotes' that he was happy to stay but wanted assurances that things were going in the right direction in terms of the vision of the club
Oh I don't forget and when the season ended I wanted him gone. But if he's buckling down and performing (again I don't know as I haven't seen any of the games) then I'd be loathed to loose him as we know the talent is there
If we were for him, we could have signed him long ago, what is the problem, why to wait instead of having a player go through a pre-season with us?
Well we are in for Harry Maguire and he's still not signed.
Peach says we're in for him but it's about whether Woody will bring himself to part with the cash.Has there ever been a credible story from the english side (BBC / Peach) that we even looked at him? I think the problem is Who we want between him and Melinkovic Savic to be honest. Ole has not made up his mind. But it's different with Maguire - Leicester doesn't want to sell whereas Sporting does. Bruno himself hinted he would be ready. Price is not at all high. What are the problems?
I have no clue. Lyon have been wanting to sell Pépé all summer. All of a sudden arsenal have agreed terms out of no where and no one had a clue. Two days ago no one would have said arsenal had a snow balls chance in hell to agree a fee for him. The English media know nothing so in your mind it means nothing is happening. When that's not necessarily the case. THAT'S ALL I'M SAYINGBut it's different with Maguire - Leicester doesn't want to sell whereas Sporting does. Bruno himself hinted he would be ready. He doesn't need it anymore so giving away. obviouslyCertainly nothing happening this weekend because he is giving away tickets to sportings friendly against Valencia for tomorrow on his Instagram account..... would be a strange thing to do if you were flying to the uk to sign for another team.
Reality check.
He has said he wanted a new challenge and is desperate to leave. Real cannot match our asking price.
The rest is pure conjecture on your part.
I don't care if a player has the skills of Best and Maradona, if he is not committed to the club, he can leave.
He has 2+1 years on his contract. If he ends up staying, the team should be built around other players. If he changes his mind, he can recommit to the club and we will see what happens.
Sean from Enderby reckons it's done.... so erm, don't get too excited

I'm hearing that #MUFC have sealed a £63 mill deal on Bruno Fernandes. Looks like they gonna be spending some serious dollar bill over next week or so! Another rival 4 that 4th spot in my opinion!
Who is this guy? Is he tier 1 for any club?
