Bruno Fernandes | United not interested due to doubts over passing ability

What is good about Bruno is that he is from sporting. Historically we had great success with signing attacking player from there

It seems most of the links on these came from the Portuguese side. I can only hope we have another player with a similar skillset lined up, unless we are masters negotiators and will swoop for him late in window haha. We'd pretty much have a free run at him, no-one else is interested. Been a couple of clubs again linked by the Portuguese side of things to possibly force Utd's hand. I think we have other transfers our club have prioritised before this one, hopefully when they are finalised we can wrap this up as well.Certainly need his or a player like him to help us creatively.
Don't think Woody is a master negotiator but he may yet surprise me.

Sporting scored 7 pre-season goals so far

1 - (Bruno's goal (vs Rapperswil
2 - (Bruno's goal (vs St Gallen
3 - (Bruno's assist (vs St Gallen
4 - (Bruno's goal (vs Brugge
5 - (Bruno's assist (vs Brugge
6 - (Brunos goal (vs Liverpool
7 - (Bruno's assist (vs Liverpool

Mental stats...

Based on what?

What do you mean based on what? Based on last year's dissapointing transfer window and this year's so far. We have left it very very late and I don't think we will get in anyone anymore apart from maybe Maguire.

Of what relevance is that?
Well, for a player who's regarded as a top talent, has fantastic stats and who is playing for a club which has reportedly set a price in the region of 50/60 million I'm alittle perplexed that no team has yet officially made a strong move for him.
Consistent Goals and Assists from midfield is a something every top 10 team would handsomely welcome yet here we are,Bruno is still in Portugal.

I ask because we've spent £65m so far, have made offers for Longstaff and Maguire totalling around £90m and you think this is evidence our total budget is £100m?

You don't know whether we really bid for them. What we do know is that we haven't signed them although we know very well what their clubs are looking for.

Wish we had stronger links to a DM rather than Bruno or Savic. Especially if we’re keeping Pogba.

The only good news for me in the will we/won't we sign anyone else is I stand to win my bet if we don't. Seriously though, I think Ed is playing a very dangerous game in leaving things so late, especially in Maguire's case because I believe Leicester will pull the plug very soon. I understand that a lot of stuff has been dependant on Pogba leaving and now this appears to have changed maybe we have less funds to play with. So no SMS or Fernandes but we might just go for a punt on Longstaff but may end up in same situation as Maguire with Newcastle asking silly money.

I seriously hope the above scenario is totally wrong and Ed comes up trumps but am not holding my breath. Maybe he will come up with a wildcard that no one has thought of as yet but I'm afraid if he doesn't get at least two more in then we are in a bit of trouble in midfield and central defence. Been here before or what? Also, not had any success in off-loading anyone yet but the reason for that might be intentional because Ed knows we are finished with signings already. What a mess.

Tackle is more for the defenders, since they are the last line and they will have to resort more to tackles to cut crosses / shots / make fouls / etc.

A midfielder should only tackle to make a deliberate foul or if he is 99% sure he gets the ball. A tackle means the midfielder will be on the ground and we will have one less player to contribute to team pressing, leaving the opposition with more space to exploit.

IMHO a midfielder defensive duties should be closing down the space and the passing lines. Being a good tackler is a good bonus, but they should not commit to tackling much often, mainly because if he mistimes the tackle it will mean we will have one less player to contribute to team pressing during some seconds, leaving the opposition with more space to exploit. This can be fatal against teams who rely on pressure or are effective on fast transitions.

Can't say I agree with that assessment.

This transfer is so obvious and that's precisely why it wont happen. He completely changes our midfield for the better.
I would not want SMS ahead of this guy. Bruno is so silky smooth.

That’s not enough to arrive at any kind of conclusion regarding our budget.

Why Real aren't buying him when they clearly know they can't get Pogba? Maybe some of the elite clubs out there have doubts on him making a step up or two?

Brendan Rogers confirmed they had rejected a second bid. You’re basing this off conjecture, and reliable sources, including the Leicester boss, would suggest we are in for those players.

Agree completely.

It is so bloody obvious that he will become world class.

If $hitty og Liverpool would buy him we would regret not buying him when he bosses in PL and CL.

We have no funds.

If we don't sign him up... I'm sure Chelsea or some other club will get him for sure next transfer window. If money is really the issue, we might as well throw Fred in a season long loan at Sporting. It will reduce the transfer fee a lil bit while also giving Fred some much needed game time to get back to his best.
