Bruno Fernandes | United not interested due to doubts over passing ability

Bruno flying in for medical report. Also reports that Real are finally going to stump up what we are asking.

Lets hope both are true.

I understand the business side, but no team wants a player that does not want to play for them.
What report is this?

A quick twitter check suggest its Correire Dello Sport that's carrying this story and yet I can find no such thing on their website or their twitter

British press say we arent in for him. Italian press say we've signed him. You go left or right, and you're falling in shit there.

I must admit, the thought of a Bruno/McSauce/SMS midfield , however unlikely, would be exciting. I know it's unlikely right now but from those linked, that's what I'm hoping for.

With Pogba leaving?

Why would Italian media know about Bruno Fernandes moving from a Portuguese club to an English club?

If this deal was done Woodward would have posted it in his press leaks groupchat by now. Doubt we would find out via an Italian paper

i dont think he's ever leaked that we've signed someone tbh

Little late for that now. Genuine question has he played like he doesn't want to be here in pre-season?

I don't think it is. Not sure what a player plays like when they want to move, do they try to play well or look disinterested? Pogba has said with his own words he wants a move. I'm not just guessing.

It is frustrating how people seem so willing to just forget what's come before. He's caused problems numerous times, said he wants to leave, allegedly offered himself to City etc.

Dybala can play in a front 3 while Bruno can play in a midfield 3 @SportingCP96 is the best to ask about this . He is the best with the Portuguese league on here
As you said Dybala is able to play in the front 3 in attack where as Bruno tends to play more in the point of a midfield 3 but he can drop back as well, though that would not be preferred (IMO). Dybala though is best in that 9.5 position in behind the striker where as Bruno is best as a #10 so I can see where the worry can be. I think I know what I would do personally.

In able to accommodate them would depend on what formation the team is willing to play. For example In a wide 4-1-2-1-2 you can get the best out of both Bruno and Dybala. Dybala would play off the shoulder of the main striker in a 2 man attack and Bruno would be the tip of the Diamond playing in behind those two. Bruno is a willing defender and has no problem tracking back to help the loan DM in behind him so that would work fine. In fact Bruno played in that exact formation in his first season at Sporting under coach Jorge Jesus. I also think there is a video which details his performances and play in that first season. (I can find it if you would like).

In conclusion can they play together? absolutely but it depends on the coaches ideas. If the coach wants to play a 4-3-3 for example I would say no only because I would not want Dybala playing out wide personally.

Not sure who I want more out of Bruno and Dybala, but we can't have both as they occupy the same spot.
I agree, got to be one or the other. You could argue Bruno Fernandez has more flexibility as he can play in a midfield 3 and has a higher workrate, while Dybala can only play as a #10 or second striker. On the other hand, Dybala adds a huge goal threat, and would answer the question of where our goals are coming from this season.

Still think Dybala is too good to be true though.

Joao Felix who was very good in the Portuguese League, looked very impressive against Real Madrid last night. I wonder how good would the best player by far in the Portuguese League look.

He showed you vs Liverpool a glimpse:devil:

They're quoting a CDS article that as far as I can tell after a quick search, doesn't exist. I don't know who Stretford Paddock are but my first instinct is WUM.

Cds reported it in their SMS article. It's just one line, which usually means nothing.

The Red Devils, waiting to launch the assault on the Serbian, are close to closing for Bruno Fernandes , owned by Sporting Lisbon, another midfielder: agreement based on the 70 million with the former Portuguese Samp and Udinese ready to land for medical visits to Manchester.

Thanks, much appreciated.

That's a shame because our midfield lost a lot of its bite and tenacity when Herrera left the club. We need a suitable replacement before the season kicks off and I was hoping Fernandes was the one. But if he's too similar to Pogba, who has seemingly decided to stay, then I guess it would be a waste of time and money to pursue him.

I struggle to think of a Herrera replacement who is both available and of a similar standard.

"Seemingly decided to stay" . Yes, that's one way of saying that he's not as wanted by other top teams as he thinks.
I don't know Bruno, but if half of what I read is true then he would produce better results than Pogba and with twice the energy.
Don't suppose from Woodward's point of view he would sell as many shirts as Pogba, which is more important to the jumped up executive than good football.

Why would Italian media know about Bruno Fernandes moving from a Portuguese club to an English club?

Apparently his Father was/is a scout for one the Italian teams and Bruno did spend a few years playing over there, could have friends in Italian media. But it does seem like a long stretch

You are aware of how many goals Bruno Fernandes scores last year, right?

We have played a 4-2-3-1 in every minute of pre-season, regardless of which combination of players have been on the pitch. We can’t accommodate both properly. Maybe Dybala off the right if we went with Rashford up top and James left, for balance. I’m not sure Dybala and Martial would work together.

I think we may be reluctant to sell Pogba as Adidas have told us that if he goes they want us to buy a star replacement and I don't think Woody would be willing to spend the time of money on a star replacement. That may be the reason we are asking for such a high fee to price him out of the market.

People want us to sign this guy?

At the end of last season nobody had heard of him, and now people have seen some YT and heard some annecdotes from Portuguese fans.

Be grateful this has been nothing but press nonsense. Woefully unprepared to step into pogshoes.

Personally I think we are done signing anybody else now. Maybe a last day Fellaini. Stop with the f5 and go enjoy the weekend, winter is not that far away.....

I agree with your point in bold. I think that Woody thinks the squad is strong enough as it is, which I believe it is not.

Rashford and Martial for converted inside forwards and Dybala for the false 9 role.

Pogba and Bruno with McTominay as the protector. For bigger games switch one of the forwards to Matic or Pereira to get more control over the midfield.

Get Maguire spraying the long balls to Rashford and Martial. A kid can dream, right?

It´s interesting to see the Reddit put Corriere dello Sport - the news outlet reporting the Fernandes is ready for his medical - in category 3 (where 1 is best and 5 is worst regarding reliability). Category 3 is described as "Unreliable, and not to be trusted solo. They fall into near click-bait practices and are often fighting for relevance in a sea of rumours."

I still hope it´s true, though.

Importantly he has not stated he wants to stay.
He still wants to go to Real.

Does a player who has a contract have to say he wants to stay?

Incidentally there were 'quotes' that he was happy to stay but wanted assurances that things were going in the right direction in terms of the vision of the club

I don't think it is. Not sure what a player plays like when they want to move, do they try to play well or look disinterested? Pogba has said with his own words he wants a move. I'm not just guessing.

Oh I don't forget and when the season ended I wanted him gone. But if he's buckling down and performing (again I don't know as I haven't seen any of the games) then I'd be loathed to loose him as we know the talent is there

Bruno is better option. He gets the goals and assists whilst also we won't have to deviate from the tactical set up our manage wants. If we get dybala as the team changes over the years it will always be hard to find him a spot in the team similar to what has happened to him in Juve
