This is going to sound incredibly bitter, and I love Bruno btw, but I would have loved him to unleash one of his long rangers in the Europa League final.

All well and good powering them in against Israel. But in that Europa League final, with Villarreal having everyone behind the ball, we needed someone to take some pot shots. Try and test the keeper, maybe give Edi a rebound to pounce on.

I am a huge fan of Bruno's, but when you know what he can do it hurts to remember what he didn't even try. I don't blame United for losing but going 120 minutes with two shots on target? Not when we have so many gifted hitters of the ball. Make the keeper make a save at least!

We better match his ambitions and quality or he won't stick around for the LOL's

Good to finally have a world class player at our club again. Can’t believe the amount of criticism he gets from certain sections of posters here. This guy epitomises the real Manchester United - talent, impact, passion, hunger. Wish he has a great tournament.

He's electric. Would be pretty fun for England to play against him and Ronaldo at some stage.

It would be a great final. I want us (Sweden) to reach it, but if not I like both Portugal and England to do well.

Scotland going far would be fun too. I got some scottish mates as well.

Yeah I can't wait to play Scotland. Good luck to Sweden! I've always had a soft spot for Sweden ever since the 2002 World Cup with that group of England, Sweden, Argentina, and Nigeria. Always really stuck in my mind.

It feels really wide open. I can't fecking wait!

Yeah I feel France may have declined a bit since last world cup overall. Although Mbappe is getting better.
Belgium and England could go far again with lots of attacking talent.
Portugal could win Euros again with the talent they got, but they probably need to be more dominant to do it.

Italy feels on the up as a collective, but mainly got players playing in Italy for good or bad. Germany I am not trusting anymore, but when you look at the midfield and attack they got they should be one of the favorites. Bayern spine gives them a great attacking chemistry, but also like Bayern they might be too open defensivly at times.
Spain lack that world class talent they had when they dominated. Many very good players, but not so many special ones. The fact Ferran Torres is probably the most interesting attacking player and he is not starting for City much says a lot.
Morata has had a good season, but I don't think many trust him to lead a team to European glory.

Heh. The difference in responses is night and day

Did I miss a game where Pogba scored two goals from open play (one of them an absolute peach) and got an assist? Of course not. Because we’d never fecking hear the last of it if he did

Maybe Bruno should have thrown in some epic keepy uppies so he would get called “world class”?

The best part is the assist  I’m watching how long Bruno held onto the ball and how he missed the best opportunity to put Ronaldo in. How him holding onto the ball for too long reduced the xg and how fortunate it was that Israel’s goalkeeper is Sunday league. Then I’m wondering if you’d be applauding it for all our players or picking the bones out of it like I just have.

Great goals though, great player. Second goal was fantastic, first wasn’t easy either. Hope he has a great tournament I hear he hasn’t been great for Portugal to date. Hopefully that changes.

Personally I think he needed a break, he's been playing 2 games a week for pretty much a year straight now since June 2020. With his style of pressing and running back to win the ball I think he's looked very leggy over the last month or two.

He's gotten a 10 day or so break so hopefully he'll be in better shape. Not sure how many weeks the players will get off after the Euros but hopefully it's at least a good few.

We would, because your voice of reasoning would be in there to temper.

It's a fantastic lineup, with quality cover in every position. Gomes, Semedo, Fonte, Mendes, William, Neves, Sanches, Goncalves, Silva, Felix... Definitely the 2nd favourites for me, and the only thing separating them and France is Kante in that midfield compared to William or Danilo. Kind of funny that the last Euro's final was France vs Portugal, and both squads were very far away from the level that they are at now.
Very good team, I think they are probably the top 2-3 team in Euro this tournament. But France is still clearly ahead as they have no weakness at all.

Defence - similar level
Midfield - France is clearly far better in DM positions, their AM (Pogba vs Bruno) is similar though
Foward - overall I think France is better with Mbappe+Benzema+Griezman, but Portuga leading by Ronaldo and support by Silva/Jota/Felix is up there with the best

Bruno Fernandes scoring bangers at the Estàdio José Alvalade? Good to go, nothing new here.

He must of been having the time of his life playing back “Home”

Portugal is IMO more balanced in attack. You have Ronaldo first of all up top, who along with being one of the top 5 of all time is also probably the most clutch player of all time and an absolute leader. Bernardo Silva provides quality on the ball and creativity from one side, Jota or Felix the inside forward from the left who aren't pure front line players like those from France, and Bruno a world class #10 who scores and creates. For France, they're all pretty much strikers or support strikers, but pretty much the very front line players. Coman is a quality winger but doesn't necessarily start always. They have no width if he's not starting and everything gets funneled inside or in behind, but when you are as dominant as France, there won't be that much space in behind.

Just something off with them for me, and I think it's because they're going to try and shoe horn a kind of declining Griezmann in along with Benzema and Mbappe. Griezmann is a terrific finisher so it might work out, but I just don't like their balance as much as Portugals.

‘Only Israel’.
It's very weird how you can't be happy that we have a world class player just because it's not guy (who happens to be a bit of an idiot as well) you wanted to come in and be our 10 (admittedly also a brilliant player, but we didn't get him and Bruno has been fantastic, so accept it and move on).

France's attack will be much better than ours regardless of the names. Mainly because the midfield behind them is much better. Just need to watch how they came to Portugal a few months ago and could have easily scored 4 or 5.

We're getting massively overrated which can only end badly given the group we're in, we're on the same level as Italy/England/Belgium, nowhere near France.

Maybe it's a case of players not turning up or the system then. I always think it's hard to properly judge international sides until big tournaments though. Most kinda half ass it through qualifiers and focus on clubs until the big tournaments. Do enough to get through. Lineup on paper is quality and should be up there as 2nd favourites IMO, with it being close to France.

Do you understand what quotation marks mean?

I remember you had some questionable results in 2015/16 including losing to Cape Verde then won the Euros. #believe

On the bench... Jota is better for balance in that team, Felix is a #10 who isn't as good in other positions so no point in forcing him in when you have quality all over.

Huh? Who was you quoting?

It was a sarcastic comment. Hence the marks. Bruno simply had a very good game. However, I chose to mock those whose first response to Pogba having a good game just 24 hours earlier was to dissect/attack the quality of Bulgaria, who of course did not choose to question the might of Israel.

Personally, I have no desire to pick holes in the performance. That’s how football works. Bruno played well. ‘It was only Israel’ would be silly to point out. We can all see it was only Israel.

They were very lucky to win it to be honest. They did not win a match in the poul. It was like when Greece won it.

No one cares. Just the name on the trophy that counts, you can discuss luck all you want but no one can take it away once you've won it

Yes but saying Portugal has a chance to win it and then compare their chances at the last time they won it is not coherant as 9 times on 10 they should have not win it.

Ah cross thread fanboy player beef, love it! We planning on doing this all Euros?

What the feck is a fanboy?

Whatever ‘this’ is, it depends on how I feel. If I see inconsistent arguments, I may or may not mention it. Depends on what I had for breakfast.
