Seriously though, I get the feeling he's lost some of the dressing room. Got the impression the players weren't arsed.

He has a few issues to sort out. He seems to have some weird blind spot when it comes to picking Johnson and Skrtel though. It's hilarious because half of the defence (those two) seem to be the complete opposite kind of players to the other two (Lovren and Moreno) which causes so much confusion. Then throw in Mignolet who just looks frightened 99% of the time and it is a disaster. His poor transfer work has definitely become a significant issue.

I don't think it's morale really, I think they just don't know what to do. They seem like a team without a plan, it's all very aimless and makes them boring to watch at the moment. It definitely tampers with the idea of Rdogers being a 'tactical genius', it looks more and more like he was very lucky to strike gold with some players in the form of their life, and he's finding it very hard this year without that added bonus of a player elevating the rest of his teammates.

I am right in saying Gerrard has played every minute of Liverpool's league games so far? That seems...ill advised.

I applaud it. Brentan is doing a beautiful job. Makes Liverpool's dire state of play so amusing for me.

And Sterling gets how much rest again? Makes his England statement on his players look a little silly!

First he's burning Sterling out by playing him too often and now his comments put a great pressure on his shoulders.

Oh boy, may it last long.

Rogers is just arrogant as feck and it's catching up with him. He reminds of those kids who always uses words in their essay because the 'bigger' it is, the more impressive they think it makes them look. When in fact, using a simple sentence with the right words to convey what you really mean is all that was needed. And further more, it turns out that the more impressive sounding word was the wrong one to use in the first place cause it has a totally different meaning. In short, trying to sound intelligent when you're not.

They are realising they're looking like the team Brenton had in his first season. A million passes sideways on the halfway line and back to the defenders. The issue they now have is they are far worse defensively after Rodgers than the team he inherited from Dalglish.

There was a thread about this in the General a while back:

Rodgers has never been a tactical genius. The 'amazing' tactic that got them to 2nd last season consisted of little more than flying out of the blocks and hoping they were far enough ahead on the hour that their inevitable late game drop in performance didn't cost them. Now they haven't got a world class player to facilitate that they look precisely as average as they did before.

And the most visible part is the top line.

seriously...last season they played some amazing football...and it was not all about Suarez.

so what has happened? drained? it cant be the midweek matches...Sturridge? new players not fitiing in?

Sturridge is also a big loss. Lambert, Balotelli and Borini are nowhere near his level. I think Liverpool will look much better once he is fit again.

I agree. the loss of Sturridge has been underestimated by some.

but Henderson also does not seem the player he was...

Henderson has either been a 9/10 or 6/10 this season. When it's the former we've won. He and Coutinho are not helped with Balotelli being up front. He's never usually bad because he always does the basics right and presses like a madman.

Gerrard and Henderson were pretty much carrying the weight of the side last season. Solid in front of the defence and making passes, creating opportunities that the front players capitalised on. both have faded badly. But Coutinho has shown glimpses of coming back. said elsewhere..once you get Sturridge back...it may turn. which asks the question about the new players he has bought...

Henderson has been good this season. He's had some brilliant games this season (Southampton, Spurs, Everton, WBA).

I think Henderson has been misused this season. Last season he was brilliant as a box-to-box player, either on the right of the diamond or as the third man in a 3 man midfield. This season he's been used deeper in midfield and at times further forward, which I don't think suits him - that wastes his energy and running off the ball.

Last season momentum carried them game after game in 2nd half of the season. Confidence was sky high, the media building it up as their return and then...Gerrard slipped. Confidence gone, media and the fans talking about slip, Suarez sold, Sturridge injured, Gerrard slipping all over the place.

I would enjoy it a lot more if weren't behind them in the table.

I'd say 7 out of 10 performances have been particularly poor do far. Which is why I'm amazed atvthe current league standing. Essentially everyone is inconsistent apart from Chelsea.

Utterly cringeworthy. What a bunch of less than intelligent individuals.

Brentan said he won't keep Stevie out of sentiment. Why did he sign Lambert then?

I think the Lambert signing only looks bad because of how he used him. He's a proven premier league player and was relatively cheap. The fact he's a Liverpool fan probably does help as I'd imagine he's more willing to be a squad player there than Southampton as he is living his dream somewhat. I don't think it was sentiment more that Rodgers probably knew Lambert wouldn't be difficult to work with if he wasn't getting games. It looks a bit ridiculous now as he doesn't get that much game time.

No chance Slippy G will leave. Inside he'd be dying to fly off to the Etihad to get a taster of some silverware, but his pride won't let him.

He'll sign a one-year extension, have one last shot at the title in 2015/16 then he'll hang his boots up at the end of it.
