Brentan Rodgers

That self satisfied smirk at the end of the clip (not to mention that there is a clip in the first place) really hits home just how apt the David Brent comparisons are.

To be fair they should've realised they had hired a world class prat the moment he okayed a documentary about the 'inner workings' of the club.

Resting Sterling and Gerrard potentially. Could get very, very ugly.

Let's hope so. I really want them to finish 3rd and play Europa league football.

I think it will happen too. The worst thing for Liverpool about playing Madrid now is that Madrid will have guaranteed qualification by the time they play Basel next and could rest players, giving Basel a chance at a point or a win.

Yes, mate. It didn't go down too well on the Liverpool forum I saw it on:

In other words, he was knackered but I'm awesome, and I can basically turn strained groins into wine. Give him a huge new contract and pour me another glass of philosophy while you're at it. Thanks.
Christ. It's like he's speaking about a shire horse that he's transformed into a St Leger winner.
:lol::lol::lol:

Funny, isn't it? They spend years waiting to get back into the Champions League to play the likes of Real Madrid and now they're basically throwing in the towel before kick-off. I say "they" but I mean Brent, I suppose.

He really is a cock.

Exactly what I thought.

Is there any point in Liverpool being in the CL? They throw the towel in when they should be pumped up to the max. It doesn't get much bigger than Real Madrid yet Rodgers is doing a Mick McCarthy when Wolves came to OT, playing some of the stiffs cos they had a more winnable game a few days later.

The Europa League is obviously more their level.

I can see his after match interview going like this

"Maybe with that wee bittuh luck in the final 3rd we'd be coming away with a point.
But you know we lacked that wee bit of cuteness, that what I would call "continental pass".
But I was on the team bus before and i was saying to the lads, "In a world full of people there's only some want to fly -Isn't that crazy." That's us. We want to fly. You know who said that? Nietzsche? Plato? No. Seal."

I really hope he gets no praise for tonight. A better starting 11 and they could have nicked a point.
He played his cards and prioritised the Chelsea game. If Liverpool get a result at the weekend then fair play, if not he deserves the stick.

well, that was a disappointing non-tonking and no mistake. Liverpool done OK, Madrid poor.

It was 27/4 in shots and Madrid were wasteful, but Liverpool definitely could've threatened them more with Sterling. Bizarre decision to rest him when he's been playing him in the Carling Cup.

What should he get praise for? They were hardly visible out there. Their first shot on goal came after 60 minutes.
But you just know the press will stroke his ego...regardless of the reality...

Agreed. Brentan should have been brave. Having said that, I got the feeling that Madrid were never out of first gear. Felt they would have upped their level if they needed to. But still.... you're on this great stage in Europe, at least have a proper go regardless of the outcome...

Cassilas had dinner during the game FFS. Liverpool fans are celebrating just losing by one LOL
