Breel Embolo | Signed for Schalke

I'm only going off YouTube videos so my opinion may be off the mark but he looks quite clumsy and a kick and chase dribbler with no real skill. I would say his crossing looks to be very good though.

He has pace, power and good shot and from what I've seen (bare minimum) he seems better suited to striker in the Premier League. With Rashford progressing I don't see the signing necessary.

Looks absolutely awful based on the above video, am assuming this is just a one off bad performance. Ounas looks so much more accomplished based on this video but will continue looking for other match comps.

Hes nothing like Martial stylistically, odd comparison. More Balotelli.
Not a bad comparison but Embolo looks a lot more mobile and full of tricks. Origi is a better comparison, probably.

There's better clips on youtube. See the Manchester United target/welcome one.

Here's Google translate from the Leipzig newspaper article:

"As the Swiss Storm Jewel Breel Embolo then also made known that he, the English Premier League canceling in subsequent days and the German Bundesliga now quite come Rangnick / Mintzlaff talked cheerfully her peppermint tea bag in hot water and were almost sure: wait and see, the Breel we get.

"Then came a certain Jose Mourinho and traipsed legs through the small kitchen. The coach of Manchester United rose suddenly in the running for the European Football Cup Embolo a not lured with operating times or the (nonexistent) stimuli of the city: he lured with long bills.

"And already got mixed the preferences of Mr Embolo and its consultants. RB would have pulled the trigger a little over three million euros per year for the 19-year-old man from FC Basel get done and up to 20 million euro transfer fee.Three million salary cashed at United the Greenkeeper, so should the good Breel get five to six Mios. As of today: RB's out of the race and looks, well, askance towards Breel."

Don't see what's unclear about that to be honest.

He's more suited to the EPL than say a Ounas and ticks the boxes of what we had when Valencia was on full form which would be great. He's has a lot of skills in his locker he's just powerful so it doesn't looks as aesthetic.

I think they're saying Manchester is shit, but we're loaded

Nothing new in the papers. As I said, the newspaper claimed to have access to documents which proof United is in talks with his agent.

He might be raw but a huge talent. People rating him based on youtube are idiots

Martial's best position is on the left. Embolo's best position is on the right. That's why their managers play them in these positions.
I've not seen the player outside of Youtube's posted here, but even from those, I question what you're saying here.

He looks like his 'best' position is the same one Martial plays in: coming in from the left, as that's where he scores all his proper goals from in the vid.

From the right, he looks to cross or pass or simply blast it at the goal, whereas from the left, he's calm, composed and is slotting home. He never uses his left foot, which is a massive hindrance whilst coming in from the right side of the pitch.

From the right, he looks like a ball-playing winger; from the left, he looks like an accomplished wing-forward - he doesn't look like he has both sets of attributes irrespective of the wing he's on, so it's a pick your poison scenario: goals from the left, or assists from the right.

I've heard he's highly rated, but he looks underwhelming in what is supposedly his best highlights from a season in a weak league. If the links with us are true, it will be good to get a proper look at him during the Euros.

He reminds me of a mix of rashford and martial. Wing play a bit like martial and attack like Rashford. In the sense that he seems to do the same 'float a bit behind the ball in the box to clear his marker' routine from the videos of his goals

Watched half a youtube clip on him, and so far his dribbling looks rather poor. Pushes the ball way in front of him so opponents can reach it before him, and his shooting isn't all that good.
I'm clearly an expert already.

Agreed, doesn't look like a great dribbler but then again youtube.

Edit - Have to say Depay's youtube clips didnt look too impressive to me either, most of them were just cutting in from the left and shooting. Martial on the other hand looked class v/s Valencia and Arsenal.

His strengths are the physical attributes, he is clearly raw in terms of technique and dribbling. Ideally he'd stay one more year at Basel to work on his weaknesses and to grow mentally but doesn't look like he has the patience. Huge gamble imo.

from the videos he looks raw, but he certainly has a lot of potential, his brute strength and pace will be so valuable in the epl, and above all his crossing seems better than anything we have in the squad, lastly i think he will be more suited to 4-3-3 as a forward rather than 4-2-3-1.

For the prices quoted in todays market it really isn't much of a gamble tbh.

Yes. He isn't a winger. 4231 also isn't the formation for Martial.

Do you not find that videos which show all a player's action during a particular match to be more interesting that edited highlight clips?

I wouldn't even say Embolo looked 'awful' in that video. He was technically lacking at times but showed decent pace and a lot of strength, good work rate also. You can see why there is such a debate about his 'best' position. That's just one game but he started off on the right, then moved centrally for a while and in the second half he was on the left for a time before again going central.

And the more I watch him the more I disagree with the Martial comparison. Dembele was like Martial, this guy is quite different.

What looks certain is that the deal with Leipzig which looked as good as done its off. This story could be very true.

Absolutely. But there are only one or two such clips of Embolo.

As I mentioned in a few posts above, yes, he doesn't look an impeccable technician like Martial or Coman, but he looks to have a lot going for him as well. Looks to be very quick , built like an absolute brute and enough technical quality. And he's been putting up some very good numbers so he's obviously got end product and intelligence. Given he's the right "profile" of player, and has been highly rated, this transfer does interest me.

That's a great comparison. He actually moulded himself after Balotelli early in his career from the articles I read. But he has the work ethic Balotelli doesn't.

Is WhoScored wrong or did he really only get 1 assist all season?

It's absolutely a waste of time judging a player's quality purely from a youtube video, and it is a waste of time reading a post here of your opinion of his quality based purely on one, unless possibly if it is a video of his every touch in a match.

I still remember a lot of people here saying Martial looked nothing special from his youtube videos just after he signed for us.

Look how that turned out.

I'm fine with that after two years of watching Van Gaal play Mata and just about anyone else that wasn't an actual right footed winger out there.
