I wasn't impressed by this guy for us specifically but he looks a good player for Schalke. Seems clear we want a winger though.
I don't think we were in any advanced stage of agreeing a deal and that the noise coming out of Switzerland was just to sound us out. Interest might have been there but it was probably dropped once we heard from Mkhitrayan and his willingness to join us right away.
I thought he looked a good young player with a lot of potential, but moving to Schalke is probably best for him right now. I would prefer Mkhityran and even Rashford for the right wing right now.

There weren't any journalists who got wind of it right up until it was happening. Castles was pretty confident it was happening the weekend after the speculation began. By comparison he's said nothing about Embolo.
Likewise, the Miki speculation began solely because Raiola chose to push it. Nobody had a clue of what we were up to.
United have already been linked to dozens of players. I'm sure we've scouted some of them. Some will just be using our name to get interest or new deals. From the start this Embolo stuff seemed very Gaitan-like.

Schalke is a good move for him personally. Good league and teams aren't afraid of playing young players and riding the ups and downs with them.

Good move for all parties involved imo. He wouldn't have seen the light of day under Mourinho, especially with the talk of Ibra and Mikhitarian, and with the likes of Rashford and Lingard already here.
