Why do people are so convinced that Utd are in for him, when no reputed sites or reporters haven't even linked his name with Utd.

"reputable" sources are too busy telling us we're going to sign Sanches, Gundogan, Stones & Neymar.
Meanwhile we signed Bailly out seemingly no where.

Supposedly Swiss commentators were saying he's on his way here during today's game.

Reputed sites only report these deals when it's almost complete.

Looks decent. Interesting approach if we sign him. We've then got two 18 year old strikers. More of a long term signing? Cant expect everyone to be Martial.

Not like Mourinho to sign so many young players. Unless of course he knows we have Zlatan secured.

The kid looked good today in the very little I seen of him. The pass he played in behind the defence to set the striker in behind was class, was weighted fantastically. You can tell though he looks very raw. Based on what I've heard about him he might be a good option to add to the squad next season but I also wouldn't be against loaning him out, might be better for his development.

Really hope we get the lad though, there's very little risk, even if he flops we'll still get a decent fee back for him. We'll have to see after the Euros finish!

You may be right but having 3 young players (Himself,Martial & Rashford) that can play anywhere across the front 3 can only be a good thing. Let them develop and see who deserves to go central.
If United does sign Embolo, Rashford or him would be probably too young or inexperienced to start together plus if Ibra does come as well. As for future line up I would think the 3 of them would be interchangeable on the pitch ala Ronaldo Rooney Tevez. The three of them so far looks have the potential to play centrally although Martial seems to work wonders more coming from the left. Embolo has some wicked crosses coming from right and Rashford offers those cute link up plays. Either way 15 to 20 million buy for a potential players sound like low risk but high reward if it works out.

Ibra and Embolo for 20 million € in today's market? feck yes, we would no longer have problems scoring goals or counter attacking and we would have money for a marquee midfielder.

Yes, and hes right I supposed its not so clear.
Remember we were on about Messi and Rooney at 19 rooney burst on the stage, messi was more a grower that was then. AND there is not a chance they are even on the same planet now
Rooney has done his bit for the team I think.

If someone told you, watching messi and rooney at 19, that you were watching one of the best players of all time and asked you to pick which one. Most would of picked rooney at that time.

Im not sure what point you ar making but it has nothing to do with what i am saying

He didn't impress me in his 25 or so minute cameo yesterday. One good pass and the rest of it was ordinary. There were a couple of times when I was shouting at the screen urging him to run as he was ambling around. Looked more Depay than Martial.

Hope to see more of him in the next two games.

"has" being the key word. Thank you Wayne for some amazing memories, but your best days have been behind you for a while.

Sorry for being off topic.

That one pass today deserved to result in an assist. I do like the look of this guy. Potentially we could have an amazing young front 3 in the near future.

He was better then the hurrikane

I think this will be announced after the euros so that this kid can focus 100% on the tournament. Probably the plan was to sign him after the euros finished, but we were forced to act now by Leipzig's offer.

Messi was ridiculously good at 19. Biased United and England fans would've picked Rooney

Most probably a long term signing along with Bailly, which is rather uncharacteristic of Mou.
Just get old Woodweird off the transfer process and he will be ours.

Yeah, at one point the Swiss were attacking and he was on the other side of the pitch just walking rather than busting a bollock trying to get forward.

That certainly is not true, Messi at that age was ridiculously good and you could see he was more intelligent and technically better than Wazza who was already a physical beast at that age.

I don't know how anyone can draw any conclusion about him solely based on yesterday's performance.

Watching his YouTube video of his highlights and his lacklustre performance yesterday he doesn't seem like someone who would work well at the club. Yes it was 25 mins, but come on its the Euros and your coming on for just 25 minutes. I believe he should be busting a gut to impress enough to get picked as a starter for the next match. It seemed the desire wasn't there, they were only winning 1-0, I would understand if Switzerland were perhaps 4-0 up.

His highlight reel doesn't show much either, seems quite fortunate with bounces and poor defending. With the right coaches and more hunger maybe he could develop into something good. Right now he isn't what we need in the first team, squad player perhaps.

When Messi was 19 he was already running rings around Chelsea in the Champions League, he was 19 exactly 10 years ago and was already rated as one of the best players in the game. By time Messi was 21 he was already rated as the best player in the world next to Ronaldo and Kaka. I remember Rooney at 21, he was amazing, but very streaky. His 2007/08 season was a case in point. United did very well but Rooney not so much. He'd have purple patches of goal scoring and then go half a dozen matches being unproductive and angry. Messi from very early looked the more likely to be a great. He just kept getting better and better.

One should not draw a conclusion solely based on yesterday's performance, but if one has been watching football/players for a very long time then one can start building his/her ideas about him - and we must admit that yesterday Embolo did not give us a very convincing show.

If we see him play again then maybe we can continue with our assessment of him.

How old were you then? In Messi's very early career he was only perceived as one of the world's top young players. Some would have tipped him to go on to be the best in the world but some would have picked Ronaldo and some Rooney. Liverpool fans would have even picked Le Tallec!

Football is where your "first impression" can be very mistaken.Plus people need to be reminded that performances at international level sometimes don't correlate with performances at club level. And of course young players are usually inconsistent as feck.

I'm not "defending" Embolo.Just a general observation.

Interesting signing if it happens, odd choice seeing as we've already got Martial, Rashford and Depay (maybe). Not sure yet how he fits in, but sometimes when a young player comes along and you just get that feeling about them you have to sign him, maybe that was the case here.

Imagine the sharpening of knives if Martial's cameo last night had been the first we'd seen of him after spunking all that money. "Why aren't we signing proven class like Pedro?"
This. Some of the assessments in this thread are ridiculously premature and just wrong.

Some strange responses to this lad, he has been touted around as a big talent for a while now, and if you venture to rival forums there's quite a few bleating about our potential deal for him, the main issue for me is how much opportunity he'll get to play.

I hope we have this wrapped up, since all it takes is a screamer or two and some good matches and his price will inflate by £10m.

I hope he starts in their next match and for Switzerland's sake as well. Seferovic could still be out there now and I don't think he would've scored.

Anyway the guy whose tweet on the issue was posted last has shared a convo on Twitter with the head of SportBild. The editor says the deals for Werner to RBL and Embolo here is done?

Has not shown anything that suggests he is better than Lingard or Young. I'd fancy Valenica at wide right more than the Embolo we have seen today.

My Nan has shown she is better than that fraud Lingard and she's been dead for 5 years.

Old enough to recognise between them who was more talented. Messi was irrepressible at that age and often time he got kicked maliciously as that was the only way he could be stopped. He was specifically targeted and kicked by a very good Chelsea team during the 2006 UCL quarter final game as he kept tormenting them resulting in the sending off of Del Horno? He was mostly held back by injuries during those early years and even at that time he kept churning out ridiculous numbers that at 20 he was already in the top three in the world despite an injury plagued season.
At no time was Rooney rated to have more potential than Messi by the larger footballing world except the British media.
