I thought he looked pretty good. He certainly has the ingredients to go onto be a quality player. I am sure at 19 not anyone would have been chopping at the bit to buy Aubameyang, now he one of the most in demand strikers in the world.

Teenage talents, like Rooney and Ronaldo do not come around often, if people might be using them as a benchmark..

It's not fair to say they have been poor when the average performancez from most of the team has been poor as well.. I agree that they haven't been the best but neither have they been the worst all season.. they've had their bad moments but don't deserve to be called flops yet

I agree they need to be given opportunity under new management but
not as starters would like them earn their place in first team based on performances. New additions still need to be made to strengthen the
team.

He's quicker than Martial.

No chance imo, he's got pace but Martial is lightening.

Thought he had a nice cameo today. Showed no nerves and could have had an assist with that one lovely pass. I liked the positions he was taking up today, sometimes left and sometimes central, very hard to mark.

Looks like a solid unit though. Worth a punt. Can't be worse than what we have already. Hopefully see more of him in their next game.

It's pretty telling that the Leipzig deal is off.

He's ours if you ask me.

I think Martial is quicker too, and that's off the ball. On the ball, there is no comparison to be made.

Not particularly excited by him. Hell, I was even excited by Martial despite knowing close to nothing about him.

The way I look at it: Is he an upgrade on the RW? He's better than Lingard (and more potential) so he'd be an addition for the squad. I don't particularly think he'll light things up but he's certainly better than what we have.

Whats all the negativity about... He did well today. Ok he didn't get a hatrick or dribble round 25 players and stick it on a plate for a team mate. As some may want or have expected from all the hype.

I thought he did really well today in the few mins he was on. Not in awe of the situation, worked hard, got on the ball, was fouled a few times and wasn't phased, looked to play people in and be played in.
I get it, i see what they are on about. Is he messi at 19? maybe he is not a 19 year old rooney... How did that turn out? Surely you can all see the potential of this lad. There is way more to be admired than be disapointed about.

My tuppence worth

I think he's a striker. He's got pace, strength and a decent technique but not the blasting technique you're expect from a winger. As @Sigma said he seemed a more technical version of Lukaku

Also he seems to be a lot better in the buildup (link up play). I'd hate to see Lukaku on the wing.

Lakaku.... yea good call. But maybe faster.

What does the bit in bold mean?

I think he means that Rooney didn't live up to his potential.
So maybe he wasn't the reincarnation of Pele but if we can sign another player with Rooney's contribution I'm down for that.

I would agree that based on very limited viewings, Embolo seems more technically sound than Lukaku was at the same stage (although that's a low bar). Would be an interesting signing given Mourinho's previous experience with Lukaku. Embolo is about as raw as Lukaku was when he joined Chelsea, and Mourinho didn't seem to have much interest in suffering through Lukaku's growing pains.

I wonder if this is one of those plays where he gets loaned out immediately to develop.

mourinho has a history of signing wingers and then selling them a few seasons later. signed schurle and the guy from columbia and salah and then let them go pretty quickly. i wouldnt be surprized if he did that with this guy. im not inferring that he is bad or anything. just a little surprized other clubs arent in for him if hes as good as he should be for a united winger

Yes, and hes right I supposed its not so clear.
Remember we were on about Messi and Rooney at 19 rooney burst on the stage, messi was more a grower that was then. AND there is not a chance they are even on the same planet now

I wouldn't mind that happening.

Let's be honest, 15 million in this day and age for someone who has as much talent and potential as Embolo is a steal. Very very low risk.

He seems to have a wicked cross on him. Better to use that out wide don't you think ?

Uefa.com writer Steffen Potter on Embolo when he was 17

I think he is a sensation – playing like that aged 17. I like him as a person as much as I do as a player. His feet will stay on the ground – he won't be shooting from 50 metres to score the goal of the season. You can give him good advice and he is ready to take it without getting angry.

I think he's better off as striker. He's quite direct, physical and has a great eye for goals

You may be right but having 3 young players (Himself,Martial & Rashford) that can play anywhere across the front 3 can only be a good thing. Let them develop and see who deserves to go central.

But his finishing is not that great from what I've read/seen. Obviously, that will improve with time. Would be great if we had a trio of forwards that could regularly interchange at will though ala MSN.

I agree

13 goals in 40 games isn't bad for an 18 year old

According to Wikipedia he has 30 goals in 86, which is impressive considering his age. Not only the amount of goals, but the amount of games he has played. Also has 10 senior appearances for Switzerland.

It is impressive

He looked good in his cameo. Like that he's comfortable playing on both sides, especially if he is to play as part of a front 3. If not for Seferovic being a complete donkey he would have had an assist too.

It is impressive, but I've been more impressed by his assists really. Some of the goals he created are excellent. Like I said, if the front three can interchange regularly, it wouldn't be a problem either ways as the movement alone would mess up the opposition. Rashford and Embolo's movement are just absolutely fantastic. Clever runners off the ball.
