Television Breaking Bad

Sorry I'm not following, you'll need to elaborate

I'm going on 2 hours sleep last night and am a tad bit slow today :(

The flash forward at the beginning of season 5, where he is in the Dennys, ordering breakfast is when he buys the gun. This is just before the flash forward at the beginning of the most recent episode (i.e. same clothes and all). In Dennys, he is rearranging the bacon on his breakfast to make the number 52 as Skylar had done on his 50th and reluctantly on his 51st. He also says its his birthday. So we know that it can only be a matter of months in the future.

Edit: Rado_N got there before me.

In the flash forward, cold open of S5E01, he was sat in Denny's waiting for the gun dealer, and it was his 52nd birthday (he arrange the bacon to the number 52).

We've already seen his 51st birthday earlier in S5, so we know that the flash forward scene is less than a year away.

Ok I'm with you now.I just had a look back at images and he's wearing the same clothes as the flash forward scene. Well he's spent his birthday alone, that's for sure! :)

It's Thursday MUFC07. The show was aired 4 days ago, and anybody who hasn't seen the episode and is flirting about this thread is going to learn certain things about the episode and series in general. I don't think Spoilers are required for theories or dated episodes.

My theory earlier on (2 pages or so back) was that Walt has more than 6 months to live, and is using the whole terminal illness to his advantage. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if Walt is actually complete free of Cancer. The flash-forward scene is longer than 6 months in my opinion. In fact I'd go as far as to say a year plus.

My belief that this is the case was strengthened when some other posters pointed out the Walt / Gus likening with the towel whilst vomiting, extreme likening to Gus during the scene at the Car Wash etc

My god, Kinky, it's Wednesday... but yeah.

This is cool, seeing how Walt has grown used to having guns pointed at him throughout the whole show...

From being terrified in season one to almost looking smug in season five.

Just saw an ad for the final episodes on Netflix, massive spoilers for Season 5a in it. Annoyed me and I've already seen it.

I saw one on STV and it showed Hank's realisation. People who don't know the show won't probably understand it or reflect on it but it's still a massive spoiler with one of the whole series most important scenes for people who haven't seen it. Annoyed me too.

Theory: Everyone's been going on about the inevitability of Skyler being killed by Walt. Is it not possible that the writers foresaw all this, used it as something of a double bluff to convince us he'll kill Skyler, before pulling something out of left field?

I dont know if this is common knowledge or wether it's been discussed on this thread already (can't be asked to read all these posts) but the process of transferring items into space (e.g. pies) was based on something called the theory of the Heisenberg Compensator.

Who's asking you to?

I see what you're getting at. You reckon that the final showdown might somehow involve the transfer of a pie into space?

It's certainly got legs, but personally I wouldn't think they'd go with it due to Skyler's inability to fully understand Walt's actions (or at least, she refuses to admit that she understands them). If she found out that Walt had transferred to pie into space then I just think she'd implode from a mental health perspective, and that storyline's already been done in season four.

I read a good few comments right after the episode got aired about that scene and people (including myself) not understanding it to have any relevance to the show. My friend who is a big Breaking Bad and Star Trek fan said it's just a link to Star Trek as the writers used Heisenberg because they are fan of Star Trek and it's a subtle nod. Just some info that's all, didn't wanna rile you guys up.

Just for future reference, the phrase is 'can't be arsed'. Not 'asked'.

Quality. The infinity symbol in the sky is a bit of a stretch, but there are things in there apart from that I sort of wish I'd not seen now! :nervous:

It's one of the very few TV shows that you're genuinely missing out on if you don't watch.

Is this program worth a watch?

No Spoilers.

It's more than worth a watch. I've stopped telling people to give it time, simply because if they're too impatient to not see it through, they're the ones missing out. There's a reason everyone's talking about it Icz, and it's because once you've watched it, you'll more than likely say that it's the best programme you've ever seen.

Why? Because it's not female focused? Ridiculous article.

She was saying that the relative lack of main well rounded female characters stopped it from quite reaching the heights of The Wire or The Sopranos for her. Which is a fair enough point even if it doesn't spoil the show for me.

It's worth multiple watches. It's fecking brilliant.

I'd avoid this thread though until you're caught up.

Thanks guys, I'll give it a go.
It's shit. Seeing your reaction to a long-ish PDF report, and as in this show some people sometimes talk for more than 10 seconds, you'll hate it.

Skylar is a more developed female character than any in The Wire. Some episodes focus more on her than Walt/Jesse.
