Television Breaking Bad

I don't think he ever did. Just read all his posts about nani.

This has now turned into a random chat thread btw so move it there cnuts.

Anyone know why it's called 'Breaking Bad'? Odd but eye-catching title.

I am not sure if it is the pilot or it is at least in one of the early episodes Jesse says to Walt when Walt pitches him the idea of making meth "so what now you're just going to break bad?" or something along those lines.

It's a canny piece of titling; attention-grabbing, because people associate it with breaking news/something dramatic.

Signed,
Captain Obvious.

I'm amused to see that Netflix of all people have released an app that blocks out all mentions of Breaking Bad on sites like Twitter so you can avoid spoilers come Sunday night/Monday morning.

Be interested to see what the episode pic is this week. Is it too much to ask for a black screen with the title of the episode on it? F'kin eejuts.

That's pretty insane....but people who care so much(about being spoiled) deserved to be punished for being ANYWHERE near something that could spoil it for them. I genuinely hate when people moan about twitter spoiling it for them...they only have to stay off the thing for 6 bloody hours or so now, and yet every monday about noon after I watch I'll see something "fecking twitter spoiling breaking bad for me". I tell them to stop it but whatever.

I think it's around the episodes Half a measures and full measures when mike is explaining how he got to where he is. It basically means when you're a good guy doing bad things for a good reason. At some point there is a line which is crossed and all of a sudden you would be perceived by everyone else as a bad person regardless of your motives. That is the point you "break bad".

It's a good name for the show considering the whole show is about Walt's journey from Walter White to Heisenberg. Good to badass.

Edit - well I got that completely wrong! I'll try and find the quotes so you see where I got it from.

When did you last do K, Pexbo?

 well played.

But yeah scratch it I got it from a BB blog, they talked about mikes half measures speech and how that was the moment he broke bad, using it as the explanation I gave above. When you cross that line from being a good to bad person, breaking bad. Which is wrong

Its from when he firsts ask's Jesse to cook. Jesse's response is something like 'you're 60 or something, and you just wake up one day and want to break bad?'

It's sad that I know that.

Not really, it's a pretty major line in the pilot.

Then Walt clarifies that he's 50 not 60. And Jesse says that if Walt's like lost it or gone crazy then he deserves to know. And Walt says I'm awake, and go get the Rv, or something like that.

Does anyone know when this airs on Netdflix in the UK? Might try watch it before work on Monday but heard it's not up til about 2pm?

The ending has been leaked.

The show's best feature is its use of dark humour, in my view.

It's pretty brilliant at times. Although the 'depressification' of Jesse from his bubbly self in S01 and S02 to his moping demeanour in S05b is a little disheartening upon reflection.

It's also easy to see why Saul's character was chosen as the primary spin-off; he's superb.

Best lines of the series for me (off the top of my head and in the context of the scenes):

1. "Ahhhh.... wire" - Jesse
2. "Restrain this!" - Walt
3. "feck you... and you're eyebrows!" - Walt

Nah its normally up between 9 and 10am.

cheers mate, might wait til I get home after work then.

You can watch it elsewhere online or download it from around 3am Monday morning.
Yeah I was gonna try but my internet's bit shit at moment so it takes ages to download, suppose if I get up about half 6 it might be done by 7ish, will give it a try!

I've found something else we can all argue over....

Entertainment Weekly ranks all 61 episodes so far.

After a quick scan I'd personally have 'Sunset', 'Boxcutter', 'To Hajiilee', 'Granite State' and 'Half Measures' much higher. The top 10 isn't bad though. Also I didn't realise 'Fly' was such a divisive episode. I think it's great.

I like Fly, but And The Bag's in The River is a much better episode. They should switch. Also the Season 2 finale shouldn't be that high. I don't particularly agree with 1 either. Also the Pilot is far too low.

Actually feck it. Shit list.

4 days Out was a really great episode, definitely up there. Its nigh on impossible to compose a list like that though, there hasn't been a bad episode in the entire series.

However, (and whether it's because I've seen it more recently or whether its because its really that brilliant), Ozymandias is the best episode of the entire show.

It's difficult for me to pick out my favourite episodes because I binge-watched the show up until the most recent series, so I don't remember it as distinct episodes.

I think the home stretch of series 4 (maybe the last 3-4 episodes) is probably the strongest part of the show.

I appreciate how hard a list like that must be to compile (I can't even tell you my favourite episode) but still....it's a shit list.

You like "And The Bag's In The River" Mike. That's your favorite. You've told me at least 8 times.
My favourite moment is undoubtedly Walt putting together the plate and the realisation he has to kill Crazy 8. And it's an iconic death scene.
