Just started this and am up to the 10th episode in season 2. Great show so far. At times the writing is contrived and ludicrous but it also has a peculiarly French Algerian vibe by way of Camus and Derrida, that grounds the melodrama firmly in an absurdist context. Adding to this postmodern malaise is a refreshing anti-humanist streak that runs through the show. It's meth production as told by John Gray or Cormac McCarthy.
It's curious that Dexter - a show about serial killers, psychopathy and gory murder - can be so gutless, vacuous and conservative and that a show about a chemistry teacher, trying to get himself and his family through, actually has the bollocks to subvert and explore the abyss.

I might have to watch 'Fly' again. It was one of my least favourite episodes.
I loved it personally and it'd easily get into my top 5. Seems to be such a divisive one though.

Don't listen to this. Sopranos is absolute quality. May not stir the emotions in the same way Breaking Bad does, but in many respects it's a TV show of a higher quality. Either way, both will have their fans, but once Breaking Bad is finished, there aren't too many top notch shows you could get into after. Sopranos is one though! Enjoy the box sets!
But back on topic, looking forward to this so much it's ridiculous. I reckon we're going to have an all action finale where we won't have time to think for the hour. Absolutely no clue what's going to happen though and don't even want to speculate. Just want to sit back and enjoy.
