You attract them because you are owned by a Sheikh, without him you wouldn’t get these players, just like you wouldn’t ‘win’ any trophies. That’s my point. PSG, Monaco, City and to a lesser extent Chelsea are all in the positions they are thanks to a rich man wanting a play thing. To think otherwise is just beyond delusional.
Of course not. However Manchester United can pay high wages thanks to years and years of hard work on and off the pitch, we are in a position to pay our players as much as the Club deems worthy, it only becomes an issue when we pay our players more than the Club earns, we aren’t even close to that.
My point still remains, just because a Club wins the lottery doesn’t automatically make them an elite Club, like in life you have to earn respect, not buy it. Many players have turned down bigger wages to go to an elite Club, City are from an elite Club and are unlikely ever to be seen as such, in our lifetime anyway.
As above, if you can’t see the difference you really are deluded. No one plays for free but some players are attracted to the Club, City have no real history to be attracted to, well apart from having a very wealthy owner.

If that's the case how come our squad is better than yours? It's really amusing how some United fans seem to think every player grows up dreaming of playing for you. Honestly, half of them could not care less. Sure, some players would like to play for a club with a rich history, but if there's a better club offering them the same/better wages, they're not even going to think twice about it. History is a thing for the fans, it's not for the players. Hence, why there aren't any players clamouring to join AC Milan right now. Trophies and money. That's all they want. If that's equal, then sure, a club's history and prestige will play a part. Otherwise it's just a nice little bonus.
Also, I don't personally know any City fans who claim to be part of the 'elite clubs', and I don't know any City fans who have claimed we'd have won what we have without Sheikh Mansour. Don't know what you're getting so riled up for. You're just pissed that United aren't at the top anymore, and that's all there is to it.

I understand that, and have used that stick to beat the Chavs/City myself. Still, you've changed the posts there and by your own logic United don't attract players, their money does. Same goes for every other team.
Regardless - the club is attracting players whether they've earned the money or not. It makes no difference. They can offer more than others and also the chance to compete on all fronts.

I don't know that calling City a rich man's play thing is fair. First, the Glazers are rich men and second, the value of City has gone way up since Shiekh Yurbooty took over.

Yeah, we were woeful last night, but using last night's performance to say our squad isn't better than yours is playground logic, and the use of laughing green smileys says as much.
To be honest, I'm just loving how times have changed. I can still remember ribbing United fans whenever they lost in the CL and they'd reply with 'you can't say anything, you're not even in the competition'.

Not really, as a draw would have been best as far as I'm concerned.
De Gea had to make some absolutely fantastic saves in the first half when it was 11 vs 11. They had three penalty shouts also, two of which I am not sure of and one which I definitely would have given. They were deserved victors imo. I don't know how you can be so sure that you would have won if it was 11 vs 11 tbh. City have won 6 out of the last 7 games between the two teams, including some absolute hammerings and humiliations. Surely you don't have an excuse for all of them?

I see the point you're attempting to make, money is a factor indeed but so is the size of the club for example we're considered in the top 4 of Madrid, Barca and Bayern in contrast to Aguero, Silva and Toure signing for a club they most likely never heard of.

I'm gonna get shot down for this, however i'll admit i feel a tad uncomfortable taking the piss out of the champions when we're in such disarray. Obviously i'll have a little giggle about them losing to CSKA and the like, but things like calling them small time, plastic, criticising their spending (Not really relevant post 2012 imo), saying they're a badly run club and the like all seem a bit bitter at the minute. I'll stop just short of a Moyes-esque "That's what we aspire to" speech, but until we get ourselves patched up i doubt i'll be raiding the stores for ammunition.

Typical SKY talking shit as usual. There can be absolutely no excuses made for their performances in Europe. If they go out in the group stage for the third time in four years then that is an absolute disaster and it means that they simply have not been good enough at the highest level.
Wouldnt say typical sky given redknapp and souness were critical. Id say typical Quinn finding excuses though
Phil Thompson the other day was saying that Liverpool were unlucky not to get anything from the games vs Madrid the other night and Souness was saying some silly things after Madrid beat Liverpool at Anfield. They criticise Premier League teams sometimes but only when no excuses can be made. Neville is an excellent pundit imo and Carragher is ok when he wants to be but the rest are absolutely terrible and don't offer much great insight at all. I would go so far as to say some of the pundits on SKY are among the worst and most biased I have ever seen on TV. I get the impression they think their audience is stupid after some of the things that they say. They are more focused on promoting the Premier League brand than they are analysing games.

But Aguero, Silva and Toure wouldn't have signed if they didn't think City were capable of winning trophies. They've been vindicated in their decisions. The size of the club isn't a huge factor. If Bayern or Real Madrid suffered a decline, to attract the players they currently can they would have to offer them more money. Like I have mentioned, AC Milan can't attract the biggest players anymore. Everyone wants money and to win trophies, the size of the club comes after those considerations.
I'd genuinely consider suicide if Redknapp moved to ITV next to Adrian Chiles. That's my idea of hell. Redknapp is the most insufferable twat in football.

United did it a hundred years before Chelsea. Chelsea now spend only what they earn, so you cannot put them on the same category as City/PSG. Otherwise you have to put every club whom sometimes during their history received aid from outside (which basically means every club).
I agree with this. People forget that we used to be rejected by the likes of Batistuta, Kluivert and Thuram despite being English champions and with all our historical significance.
The Milan point is a good one. If this was back in the early 90s, the likes of Mata, Suarez and Kroos would be playing for them.
Because we have done so well against this 'not top class' defender in recent years. Despite constantly having below average partners at the back City have usually found us pretty easy to deal with and it is largely down to him. Terry last season wasn't anything special. He was in a Mourinho team set up to be compact, which makes it slightly easier.
Take Toure and Kompany out of any city side and they become distinctly average. There is a reason for that.
