Gaming Bloodborne (PS4)

Looking forward to the DLC

This is the first game I'm close to getting a platinum trophy on. I just need to finish it the 3rd time for the last ending (I'd rather do it proper, than save and reload), I need a weapon I can only find in a Chalice dungeon, and I need to kill that bitch Yharnam.

Just started my 3rd go at the game, and it took me about half an hour to get past the Cleric Beast and Gascoigne. Not ready for a no damage run, but this is the best I've ever dealt with Gascoigne. Never managed to parry him in beast form before:

I'd like to tell you it will be easy. But I gave up on the final trophy for the platinum and it was the chalice dungeon one

Good luck with that

Can't I just level up like crazy, seeing as the Chalice Dungeons don't scale?

Anyhoo, I know that they get really hard, especially when you lose a lot of your life from the off... trust me, the Chalice dungeons were never much of an attraction for me, but I'll complete them for the platinum :)

The chalice ones were a pain in the whole, so damn tedious. Good luck!

The Old Hunters has been released. Anybody here going to get cracking with the DLC?
how did you get on with the chalice dungeons in the end

I will be getting the DLC and hopefully getting back into the game. But I desperately want that platinum so if anyone wants to team up for that mother fecking watchdog in the defiled chalice

I'm broke atm :( oh how I want to go back to this world. You planning on getting it?

Yes I am :) Waiting a couple of days, though. I'll have more time after Wednesday, and perhaps they'll have some kinks and bugs to iron out.

I've not been doing much in the Chalice dungeons yet. I've taken a little break since finishing it for the second time, and I'll also have to finish it again to get the third and last ending. I'll get it done at some point, though. What lvl you at? I might jump in on some Watchdog action.

How much does the DLC cost?

15 quid or so.

Got the dlc. Forgot how fun this game was really, been a while since I played it. Souls games make pretty much any game feel like shit gameplay wise. Just a level above.

I'm on NG+2, and have to battle my way past Gascoigne and Amelia before I can unlock the DLC. I'm slightly worried about this DLC, people are saying it's kicking their arse, and this is after they've had plenty of time to get accustomed to BB's general level. I guess that's part and parcel of why we love these games, though

I got the DLC the other day but havent had a chance

luckily where I left off was New Game + not long after killing blood starved beast and amelia. So I reckon I can start the DLC right away

Im on level 160, so it should be easy enough

I got on with it and killed Amelia today, and then ventured into the new world. Shit is fecked up, yo... Definitely makes for some frustrating gameplay. Incredible how much the difficulty goes up just because you're unfamiliar with an area and the foes. I'm putting the controller down for today, as far as BB is concerned.

Downloaded and ready for a go tonight. Didn't realise you'd have to progress to a certain point but I think I'm about half way through NG+ so should be ok to jump straight in.

Had 2 characters, one normal game, other NG+. On my normal guy I made it through to the boss, collecting everything relatively easily. Then went on my other character since the first one was pure dexterity/skill so I couldn't use the new weapons, and it's hard as feck on NG+. The boom hammer old hunter and the one with the whip like sword (forget what it's called) keep hammering me. Was a bit rusty since I haven't played it in months but still, the boom hammer guy was almost taking me out with one shot.

Really fun though, and I'm glad they put in a lot of new weapons since that was one of my biggest complaint about Bloodborne. Not enough variety in weapons used compared to previous souls games.

You just have to beat Amelia and then you can go in it.

Ok cool, thanks! Is there any point after Amelia where its no longer available (like say fighting the final boss)?
Don't think so. On my one character I was at the last boss and I could still go in the dlc.

Finally played it last night. feck me, I was so out of synch with the button config and moves when I started. Had completely lost the rhythm of dodging attacks and parrying. Liking it so far, even if I didn't;t progress too much in the 30 mins I played it.

I've been stuck on this first boss of the dlc for a good 2 hours now at least. Impossible on ng+, even doing it coop.

Got past Ludwig over the weekend. Had no luck summoning initially and the Old hunter down the stairs behind the second lamp was pretty useless. Joined the league and then Valtr becomes available as an old hunter summon and was much better suited for the fight. Still he died with just over half the life remaining but the second half of the fight is much easier.

Just made it to Ludwig for the first time today... had a couple of runs at him, still haven't gotten him down to half, but glad to hear he doesn't get 500% harder after that or anything ;P

DLC feels so much harder, but I know part of that has to be that you don't know where things are and haven't battled your way through certain areas a ton of times. Unlocking the first short cut helps A LOT, though. That first little leg up makes the prospect of going on feel a lot better.

So if I don't want to play the DLC on NG+ I shouldn't finish the main part before starting the DLC?

I've just beaten Micholas (the guy with a huge cage on his head). When would be the best time to start the DLC?

You can do it whenever as long as you beat Amelia. If you don't want to do it on NG+ (it's fecking hard on it) then just don't beat the final boss which is in the hunter's dream workshop area if you don't want spoilers on his name. You'll know who the last boss is before you fight him. But after you kill him, you go to NG+

So if I want to finish as much of the main game as I can before starting the DLC should I stop one more boss before the last one? Since I'll need the Hunter's dream access for leveling in the DLC, i.e., does the final boss fight start as soon as I enter the Hunter's dream or do I need to talk to someone / go through fog,...

Thanks! I just want to really make sure, since I love the game but I don't have that much time and I'm not the most skilful player, so would like to avoid playing on NG+.

Got this for Christmas and I've started playing it the last few days. As I've never played any of the Souls games it's been a bit of a shock to the system. They really throw you in the deep end and don't tell you much (ie controls). Just wondering are you able block in this game? Also how do you throw the molotovs?

You go through a fog gate at the bottom of it, you can still talk to the doll girl and level up or whatever.

Considering trading this in already! The lack of check points is a joke! I've been stuck on the part about 20 minutes in where they all around a Bon fire. After about 4 hours managed to get past them twice. First time a giant thing killed me. The second time the two massive dogs on the bridge got me! Such a frustrating game. They've just made it hard for the sake of it.

Stick with it

It's easier than dark souls. Once you get the hang of it, it'll become hugely satisfying

You will level up and return to that part of the game and destroy them all with ease

The aren't many bonfires at the beginning of the game but you can open some gates to create shortcuts, which makes things much easier...it's a game that rewards exploration, almost demanding it.

I played the Souls games first, so I was prepared and didn't struggle that much but it took me time at the beginning to get used to the change of pace.

Ultimately, the reward for getting past the initial spike in difficulty is some of the best gaming that I've ever experienced...I urge you to stick with it.

Wait do I not have to get through this part of the game to progress? I really want to stick with it because I've heard such good things. I've just found it really frustrating how they just throw you in and tell you f**k all about how the game works!

Stick with it. The big bonfire part at the start was one of my favourite parts of the game. Once it clicks, you will be fine. There's a boss on that bridge with the wolves by the way. A tactic that I shamefully employed was to sprint past everything until you get to the boss, then die, then try it a few more times until you actually beat the boss. Then you can start to level up at Hunter's Dream and there's also a new check point you will get on the bridge once you beat the boss.

@bosnian_red did you beat the DLC? Because I'm confused as to what order you're supposed to fight the bosses in. I beat Ludwig, with help of course, then found myself lost in the research hall, eventually got a key for a door that leads out to where you fight the celetial emissary in the vanilla game, burst through the window, dropped down, and got Laurence's skull, went back to the church where the flaming cleric beast is lying down, triiged cut scene and boss fight, which I beat, with help again.

Did I just skip a chunk of the DLC accidentally?

I went back to the research hall and found another part where you can go, eventually got to a boss called Living Failures. Can't help but feel I was supposed to fight them before Laurence, the first cleric aka flaming cleric beast.

Laurence is an optional boss fight, but other then him its all pretty linear so you can't skip anything (other then items and stuff of course).

Never ended up beating it though. Am stuck on the last boss fight which I've beaten a few times when helping others but never on my own character so its frustrating as feck. Think I've used up a good 40-50 humanity or whatever they call it in this trying to beat this boss.

Just need to be patient, once you get the hang of it, it isn't too hard. Also you can just sprint past everything basically if you really want to get past a part and open the shortcut.

Yeah. Just wait til you go down the well in the fishing hamlet. One of the hardest things unless you do the slightly cheap way to beat it, but you get a really cool item at the end.

Will I come across this well? I got to the next lamp after the fishing hamlet, one where the mad man hunter spawns on the roof. After you beat him, up past a ramp is like this mine thingy, where those creatures are digging on the floor.
