Any tips for fighting Gerhman? He's horrible

Update file downloading. Apparently I can now have up to 600 quicksilver bullets in storage :D It's not quite the billets I'm excited about, it's not having to put up with that bloody message anymore!

Unseen Village makes me shit my pants btw... I don't even want to move.

Okay, The Unseen Village can piss off. Can get to the Hunters but worried I've missed things because I pretty much sprinted through.

Right. Beat Amygdala - fecking yes! Only took two attempts actually... and a shit load of blood veils and a lot of nerves. That fecking woman with the brain head... Omg!

I've beaten Unseen Village and have to take on Nightmare Mensis now. Do I have much to go? Also it would be nice if the story would actually come to some sort of conclusion now. I have no idea what is going on...

I want to move on to Dark Souls 2 so how it's near the end. I'm loving the game though - I don't get into games as much as this nowadays. I also need to go back to Dark Souls eventually.

I'm also currently struggling with Ebrietas even though I found the big alien boss before her quite easy. Any tips?

A fairly typical jaunt in to The Nightmare Mensis here, my last thoughts were "there's no way he's hitting me from there"

Finally beat Ebrietas this morning. Woo. There was an Altar there that I couldnt seem to do anything with. Have I missed something?

Just beat the first boss at Nightmare Mensis. Easy to kill but a pain in the arse. I did once but it was just after I picked up a second Moon Rune. The outside part of Nightmare Mensis was a cnut. Seems a little easier inside though.

Finished the game. Fantastic game, just ended a little unexpectedly.

I told Ghernam I didn't want to die, had a fight with and narrowly beat him without a single blood vial to spare... then the ending just confused me. I have absolutely no clue what the entire plot of this game was.

Anyway, I have since read that the real ending is unlocked if collect and use four umbilical cords first... I actually had all four of them collected anyway! Slightly irritated.

Finished the 1st play through last night. Pretty chuffed as I haven't played any of the dark souls games (and weeks ago after dying for the umpteenth time in Central Yarnham I was wondering if I'd wasted €60)

Last few bosses were quite easy and most were killed on the first or second try. Did a good bit of grinding but don't think it was down to being over-powered, even their attacks were easy to evade.

Great game though.

Finally had aa chance to give this another shot, and I think I'm getting the hang of it. Beat Father Gazza couple nights ago, then got the BSB on the 3rd attempt last night. Thank God for Alfred though, fight would have been much tougher without him.

This game is quickly turning from frustrating to brilliant. :D

I haven't played this since The Witcher 3 came out. Not sure if I'll go back to it either, I was feeling very little reward for the limited time I could put into it. Great game though.

Woo!! Man, oh man, I love the Souls series, and this game is clearly cut from the same cloth, but I was questioning whether I had what it took during the beginning. It's so aggressive, no shield to hide behind, and the atmosphere is so dark and opressive that I was always filled with dread during the booting up. Then I was getting really frustrated with Vicar Amelia, before I looked up some pointers and decided to not be stand-offish, and to just run straight at her right from the off... What a difference it makes to be a lot more aggressive and to make good use of the trick weapon combos and the regain system.

I've barely made my way into the woods to either side after beating the good Vicar, but I now have two +5 weapons and I feel in charge. I'm sure the game will humble me again soon, but I'm enjoying it and not feeling weighed down by playing it.

I should have known... it was the same with Dark Souls... though that took WAAAY longer to click, as I took a 6 month hiatus after having the Capra demon frustrate me time and again ;P

Anybody else still on this game? People finding replay value in it? I'm just getting started, really... haven't been to any chalice dungeons, and I still don't have a proper grasp of the parry system.

I'm very slowly working through it. Never played a Souls game before. Tried Vicar Amelia once, got ruined, and have been sort of aimlessly wandering the last couple days out of reluctance to try again. Beat those two annoying hunters yesterday which was a relief.

The game's oppressiveness keeps from playing more than an hour or two a day honestly. It's fun and rewarding...but this game is on the edge of too much for me.

The game gets easy for a while, and then the difficulty jumps back up later on in the game.

Best game i've played in a long time. I purchased DS2 not long after but found it hard to adjust to it. I'm going to back to it a short while when i've forgotten what Bloodborne felt like. Also, playing DS2 at 60fps just felt weird compared to experience of DS1.

Having DS1 and 2 under my belt has proved invaluable. I know there's a knack to things, I know it's not stacking odds against you unfairly, it's just urging you to make use of your many deaths as learning experiences, and moderating your approach according to what works and what doesn't.

Keep at it, remember that upgrading weapons is more important than upgrading stats, and don't let up on Amelia. I could give you some pointers that helped me out, if you want.

Those two hunters were tough as well, died a decent number to them. The second one was the worst, with his wide spread of gunshots.

I totally know what you mean about the opressiveness, though... I'm wussy when it comes to games, and it preys on my psyche a bit ;P

Yeah, well, I've seen some of the things that wait me later, and I've noted that people are not mainly bitching about the bosses I've beat already, if you nevermind that Gascoigne is one that really teaches people the ropes before they have it down. Having spoiled small bits of the game, I'm really not looking forward to the three chaps at one time, Gehrman, etc ;P

I got SOTFS before this so that I'd be done with the DS games before heading into a different universe. The 60 fps was weird for me too, at first. That passed fairly quickly though. Great fun, and it's nice to have more DS to play, but the lore was a bit half-assed, the difficulty was artifically ratcheted up, and BB has far more in common with DS when it comes to the interconnectedness of the world.

Should I buy Ludwig's Holy Blade, or keep going with the Saw Cleaver? I like my current set up...But the lack of range can get frustrating.

Ludwig's Holy Blade is wonderful. When you master switching between the quick and the heavy styles you feel like a God.

I guess this'll be my own personal thread during my playthrough, like the Souls one ;P

Today's been productive, got done with the Witches and Rom ^_^

Now I'm nervous about exploring the world more... it was weird and scary enough before the moon went mental :S

Just wait till the Unseen Village... You'll be too scared to actually move.

I still haven't played it and was going to pick it up tomorrow actually

How's about it, have you gotten yourself into it yet?

I am having a blast! Called for jolly co-op to beat the Shadows of Yarnham, but aside from that I've dealt with every boss on my own. Had to turn back and nevermind the dude at Cainhurst for now, and am currently trying to make my way past Unseen Village. Dispatched of the three hunters after a fair few tries, and found this weird bath thing that freaked me right out.

When I started this game, I was feeling horrified and scared and was dreading the exploring and stuff.. I don't feel overpowered or anything, but now I'm running around and looking forward to the freakish things I'll be seeing. This game is so crazy good, I can totally see why it's considered a console seller, even though it'll clearly not be everybody's cup of tea.

It's crazy how much these From Software games get to you if you the games appeal to you, though. At least for me, it's something I'm thinking a lot about, it brings my pulse up so much that certain boss and hunter fights make my heart almost beat out of my chest, and I am constantly reading up on other people's experiences and other non-spoilery things about the game.

<3

I didn't pick it up in the end, gonna work through TW3 first before I get anything else. Taking some playthrough this.

Stuck on Gehrman now... level 79. He's made me better at parrying, but his 2nd phase is hard to get proper shots in on, and I'm finding him hard to dodge.

Hopefully this ends tonight!

Finally got round to picking this up. Wow, the atmosphere, city design and artwork are incredible and it has a dark beauty that takes hold of you.

As a veteran of the Souls series (and permanent shield user), I struggled at first to come to terms with having to be more offensive (and the lack of bonfires) but starting to get the hang of it and have opened a load of shortcuts. On Father Gascoigne but I think I'll have him beaten quite quickly.

Lucky man... hope you enjoy your playthrough. I have to say that pure gameplay wise, I kind of prefer it to DS.

Cheers, loving it so far. If I was being hyper-critical I'd say there's less variety in the locations than DS (albeit I'm quite early on) and as difficult as DS was, it was always fair...here I'm getting shot from some guy from a building...it seems out of scope for a DS game.

Saying that I've got good much quicker than with DS and I've not had to grind at all.

Less variety in people's looks, fewer weapons, sure... but location-wise it's got decent enough variation. The aesthetics are fairly cohesive and the dark feel unrelenting, so there's no Anor Londos in this game to make you feel like you're on vacation from the underground :) so I guess it's samey in that sense.

Made it to the Blood Starved Beast and almost killed it before it poisoned me. I've yet to fire a single round and I'm an item hoarder, only using them as a last resort and when confident I can beat the boss...I get the feeling I'll be using a fair few of them soon.

Beat Vicar Amelia earlier and at Hemwick Charnel Lane (where do they come up with names?!?). I'm slightly addicted!

Beat the game Diggles?

I'm on my second playthrough, myself. After a decent number of tries I managed to take out the Shadows of Yharnam without any co-op partners... chuffed ^_^

And have managed to find my way to the Nightmare Frontier, which I didn't on my first playthrough. Thus far it looks like it might be my least favourite area........ good gravy.

Yeah I finished it it with all the optional areas and bosses. I personally killed the Shadow over of Yarnham first time...I'd say the only bosses I had trouble with were the Blood-Starved Beast and Vicar Amelia. Amazing game but I think Dark Souls was even more memorable. Moved on to Metal Gear Solid V now and it's probably even better...

I think the beginning was amazing but the Forbidden Forest and Unseen Village were a grind! I'm not that good but I still think the game lacked some 'big' battles like Ornstein and Smough.

You beat the Shadows first time?!

Amelia was my big turn-around moment, when I threw caution to the wind and went straight for the throat... Really changed the game for me.

Forbidden Woods was definitely the toughest area in my first playthrough... so disorienting and so easy to get gang-banged... Unseen Village was, actually, not that hard on me. Then again, I knew about Bell-maidens and didn't try to battle my way through, one red fiend at a time.
