Gaming Bloodborne (PS4)

He doesn't do anything until you get him half way, after that he starts using magic attacks but it's still not too hard.

I saw some of that but enemies really seem to telegraph attacks in this game. It makes it too easy to dodge. I don't know whether it's an intentional decision due to lack of shield.

Have you played any of the Souls games?

Yeah, this one is definitely easier then Demons souls and dark souls but I'd probably put it on par with Dark Souls 2... Most of the bosses you can breeze by apart from a few that are genuinely tough. Most of the hard ones in this one are in the chalice dungeons which get really hard.

I was kidnapped and taken to the area with Darkbeast. Is that designed for higher levels? I'm around 35-40, beat Cleric and Gazza with relative ease and BSB with less ease and I can hardly scratch that thing.

Still not played two. Was waiting for the complete edition. Will probably grab it in Steam summer sale.

Not done a Chalice Dungeon yet. What are they? As far as I was aware they were an optional extra that was to do with multiplayer.

I was taken there a few levels lower than you. I found the lamp, I've never returned since.

I assumed its an optional area for people at a higher level.

Chalice dungeons are a big part of the game, or at least they worked on it a ton. Not really to do with multiplayer, though you can do it, but it adds on a ton of play time. Nothing to do with the main story and ng+ or whatever doesn't change them. You go to one of the stones, do the chalice ritual with it and it's either a random area with random bosses if you have the root chalice, or if it's the normal chalice then it's pre designed areas. The first chalice is really easy once you level up as it's the starting one, and there's like 3 layers with a boss at the end of it and random loot throughout. You can get special types of weapons too. Like there's 3 types of each weapon, and there's always a bonus room, and once you clear all of that you can get random loot and sometimes you can get like a "lost blades of mercy" instead of the normal blades of mercy, the difference being the blood gem allocations I think, and you can get a blood rock as there's only 1 in the normal game. It's a lot of fun though, and they get really hard as you go on.

Did you do them before/during/after the main game?

I'm definitely going to check them out.

You can encounter bosses from the main game in the Chalice Dungeons too.

I thought I was finished with the Blood Starved Beast but there it was, waiting for me at the end of one of the dungeons. Cnut.

You're definitely meant to do them as you level up, as they start off incredibly easy after you finish the game and are already level 100... Killed a few bosses in one attack combo without regaining my stamina
The difficulty increases quickly though so most of it is once your in ng+ and after that probably.

Ok I'm officialy struggling. Even tried with help on vicar Amelia and she still destroyed us both

I'm level 28. Should I be higher? Also should I go to the other boss instead 1st. I was in the area and got quite far into it and went to try to kill the hunter with the gun but he killed me too

Get close to the hunter with the gun and he'll stop using his gun. Just don't let him get distance on you and dodge around him, I managed to get kill second time round.

He is so far away. And after reading the main boss is still further ahead is there a torch/bonfire close by?

Can you remember what level you were at?

I'm finding it far harder than dark souls. I miss my shield

I went to Blood Starved Beast before Amelia. You don't have to take that hunter out to get to the next boss but I did just because he's a pain in the ass. From what I remember he's incredibly hard to beat I just ended up charging him and shot him off the roof. I think most people knock him off one way or another. With Amelia I think you need to roll into her attacks and get in behind. What have you been levelling up @Randall Flagg ? I went big on strength to begin and I think it probably helped me a lot.

Does anybody kow a way of finding out your game time playing this game? The last game I played I was mindful of gametime was The Order 1886 and it was easy to keep track of time played, but you just lose hours in this game its hard for me to know how long ive been playing

Press load on the title menu.

Unlocking all the chalice dungeons (whilst not skipping all the treasure rooms, so you dont run low on the mats to open new dungeons) takes forever. Even if you're over levelled for half of them

From my experience 28 is a bit low. I'm 36 and just faced her for the first time, got annihilated. I took on BSB first, though.

Speaking of Vicar Amelia, anyone know whether the path to the right of her church opens up eventually? I spent ages and a bunch of Vials beating that guy at the fountain and the two axe-wielding beasts only to find the door locked and get killed by one of those frenzy tornados.

As for your question about a lamp close to the hunter/BSB, there's not but there's a shortcut that makes it reasonably easy. I've read you should hold off killing the hunter with the gun as you can apparently befriend him after defeating Darkbeast(?).

Also I seem to have lost a bunch of insight without knowing why. I know it's not that important but does anyone know how you lose it? I was around 15 and now I'm at 8.

I'm stuck at Darkbeast/Vicar Amelia for the time being.

Go the opposite way from Vicar Amelia, down the stairs and to the area with the two giants. Go through the archway that one of the giants is sitting by, drop down and drop down again and there's some houses around that bit. If you knock on the door the guy gives you something which works when you go to that church.

I grinded all the way up to level 36 or so in the place to the left of vicar Amelia. And I beat the the witch at the end, a very nice easy boss.

I've been spreading it fairly even between health, stamina, strength and skill

I've left the other two alone totally. I am hoping that's not a bad thing

I've never leveled skill. You get the exact same stat increase by leveling strength, plus more. Leveling skill seems like a huge waste.

It depends on your weapon, some weapons scale with skill, some with strength. Skill is more for the quicker and agile weapons, like the blades of mercy which have no scaling with strength but go up to A with skill.

So I've bought the kirkhammer but it won't let me equipt it. I've got my strength to 16 and skill to 11 as it requires but it just won't let me change it? Any reasons why?

What about the Saw Cleaver? I've been using that since the start and it's +3 now.

I wouldnt suggest doing this, unless you have a specific weapon in mind that has equal scaling between strength and skill, like a C for each.

That would be referrred to as a Quality build, where you level both physical damage types equally. But if your weapon scales higher with strength or something, dont bother with the other one. Level up to the cap at 50, where you get basically nothing for your stat investment

Even then stamina seems like a huge waste. You will only need more than about 20 if your weapon takes huge chunks of stamina to swing, something like the kirkhammer 2h form might want slightly more

If you want to pvp you probably want to end up with 40+ vitality

Guys somebody please help? My first weapon has broken so I'm sort of stuck. I don't get why I can't use it?

I began by doing the same but after changing weapons I've ignored strength and only focused on skill. It all basically depends on which weapons you want to play the game with. It's a bit boring playing with the same starting weapon throughout.

Makes no sense. I guess you're missing something obvious when trying to equip it. Put it in the right hand slot and then press the right arrow to select it. Does it have a red dot next to it in your inventory screen?

Ok so I've bought the same weapon I first had and it won't let me ewuipt that

ive bought another hunter axe the same weapon that is already equipt and it won't let me use that now either?!. I'm going into inventory and right hand weapons, the first hunter axe has the red dot but the other 2 weapons I have, the "use" button is greyed out. I just don't see what I'm doing wrong.

I don't even get angry when I lose blood echoes anymore. I just scream 'Nooooo!' while lamenting my own stupidity.

Ok don't worry I figured it out. This game has a few crappy points that need ironing out. If you press start once and have the items selected in the "arms" area it won't let you change weapon until those have been deselected. Few!!

Not sure, check the weapon in the options screen and where it has all the stats for that weapon, there is a row of info on scaling that has letters and little icons indicating strength, skill, blood tinge and arcane.

Mine's just grey and says Attribute Bonus E and Attribute Requirement 7

That means it scales E with whatever icon its next to... Strength if its the first one. The scaling gets better when you level it up more.

Killed the 3rd boss Blood Starved Beast, easiest one yet took me just a few tries to beat him. For anyone whos fighting him just take a lot of vials, antidote and chuck molotovs at him later in the fight should be pretty straightforward from there.

The community in this is great. Some Chinese dude just showed me all the collectibles in The Unseen Village. Not the one you get "dragged too" but as you progress the story. We also kicked the boss's ass. The
Unborn One

Made it out of there with 140k echoes. Finally got Arcane up to 16.

Question. How does these stats look to the people who've completed it as to where I am in the story?

Level 77

Vit: 25
End: 25
Str: 30
Skill: 20
Bloodtinge: 11
Arcane: 16

Depends on your weapon, but I'd focus on whichever stat has best scaling on the weapon you want to use. And then pump your vitality if you want to live through 2 hits in pvp

For 110 meta you'd want around 50 vit and 50 str/agi/arc (whichever is your main stat)
