Gaming Bloodborne (PS4)

Continued my tradition of beating bosses on my second attempt against the Shadows.

I'm a little disappointed in the boss fight so far. The only really challenging one for me was Gazza.

Off out for the night now so will explore Byrgenwerth tomorrow.

Beat Vicar Amelia on the first attempt. Creepy looking thing.

So the whole side quest with getting the tonsil stone, getting "dragged" to the lecture room, going to the nightmare frontier and fighting Amygalda, wasn't what I expected .... I thought it was an optional place/boss, turns out the only point in doing that is if you want to fight it earlier on in the game.

No wonder I found it so hard to beat.

I beat it!

One of my favourite single player campaigns ever I think. The last boss was so epic
well second last ;). I think I was way underpowered the first time I tried taking him down but that feeling when I finally got him was amazing. I loved the music for that fight as well I could have fought him for hours. edit: oh I probably did it took me so long
!

You ain't seen nothing yet.

They are some truly hideous creatures in this game. Character designers deserve credit really.

Don't look at this, unless you've beaten Rom....

Those giant hideous bastards that are just draped over buildings in the Unseen Village.

I think I'm pretty close to the end of the game. I've got to say that out of all the enemies I've faced any kind of dog or bird can just feck off. I usually play with headphones on and I'm pretty sure I've shit myself on countless occasions just because of the sounds those birds make.

I encountered a group of bird/dog hybrids yesterday. I got so confused when I first saw them that I forgot I barely had any health and they killed me. I swear this game just trolls me at times. I love it.

Every time I get comfortable or cocky, some random with a spear or some shite pops up and pokes me full of airholes.

I can get through a shit load of them before dying, and then from the restart get killed by the very first enemy because I didn't dodge well enough. Very unforgiving game but I'm enjoying it.

I learned this the hard way. At one point in the game I was killing enemies like it was the easiest thing ever. I then killed a certain boss and got transported to a place where enemies respawned after you killed them. I got my ass beat so many times there I just gave up and ran past everything. I'm level 87 currently and I'm pretty sure I'd still die if I went for a stroll there again.

Out of interest, what's the largest amount of blood echoes you guys have lost? I lost about 120k echoes once. Not a single game has ever made me rage as hard as I did when that happened.

Lost 20k earlier. I would cry if I lost 120k.

This was my fight with Vicar Amelia. Wish I'd recorded a few more of my boss fights now. That's generally what I wore armour wise for the most part.

Most echoes I lost was about 80 k I think. Was pretty near the end though so not as bad as it could have been.

One insight!? You cheeseball! :p

Tbh I didn't even know what insight was at the time. Think I spent it on some new armour. I ended up on 99 before the end :p
Edit: so does insight actually make it harder then? I didn't notice anything dramatic. Some enemies had slightly different moves and that was about it for me?

Apparently it can make certain enemies show up earlier in the game too.

It does. After a certain amount of insight (15?) I'm pretty sure enemies become harder/gain certain abilities.

@Earthquake @Code-CX Ye actually I remember new enemies showing up in some areas after I had certain amount and some enemies had a new magic attack etc. that's all I noticed really. I think it might possibly make you weaker against frenzy as well. it seemed like it anyway.

I still don't know what insight is.
There's a shop where you can use insight to buy some items in the hunter's dream but you need 10 insight for it to be visible (I didn't realize that till about halfway through the game). When you have 10 insight, there's a small alcove facing where you upgrade your weapons. Go out and look to the left. You'll see a shop there now.

Above 14 insight normal enemies can gain a new move, and you'll see more of the world as it truly is. Hence insight...

It will not change boss fights in any way so I dont care to keep it under 14 anymore. I just let it pile up towards 99 unless I want to buy something from the insight shop

Its like humanity in the other games, you use 1 to ring your beckoning bell for help

Lost 20k earlier. I would cry if I lost 120k.

I've lost 800k, but can gain like 4k per enemy and dont need anymore levels on that character. I just use blood for vials, as some of the chalice dungeons have run my stock low...

And at this point I could just go to new game+ where you get a huge amount of blood for each kill

It is optional, I went back and did it after beating the normal "final boss"

How the hell do i get to Vicar Amelia?

Every single door to advance is closed. I've killed the first 3 bosses (Cleric, Gascoine, Bloodstarved beast).

Any ideas? Thanks.

After beating Bloodstarved beast you can go through the door on the right from the Cathedral Ward. Take the lift up and when you reach the tower, go right and drop down the hole. Then carefully make your way to the bottom via the wooden platforms, kill the wolf thing. Open the door and from there you can get to the other side of the big gate and open it. Amelia is in a cathedral in that area.

Thanks! Been wondering around for a good hour :annoyed:

Took me around 10 hours of gameplay to beat the cleric beast, and around 2-3 hours after that to get to Amelia. Over levelled a bit I think

I had to let the spider boss beat me due to my gfs crippling arachnophobia. She started panicking when he spawned all his minions.

I won't be able to go to that boss now until she's not with me.

Instead I went back to Cathedral Ward and found an area I'd never been too. It eventually leads to some church but I didn't go in because I was carrying about 40k souls at the time.

Beat that Rom cnut earlier after dying umpteen times last night. Also, regarding Eileen The Crow, I beat the hunter she was after at the Cathedral. Thankfully he glitched into the wall for a bit because he wasn't dying. Got some cheap shots off.

@bosnian_red @Ekeke can I go to the Upper Cathedral Ward and Cainhurst Castle (got the summons from Iosefka's Clinic) whenever I want or are they timed?

Finally!! I beat the Blood-Starved Beast thanks to some other guys help. Think it also payed to be more risky in the final section of the battle and face it head on. Since then I've managed to acquire the badge that lets me buy the Ludwig blade, beat up some old age pensioners in wheelchairs with some expensive toys, left scratching my head how to roll into the old workshop door balcony, run around some streets tying to get away from some ghoul with a bag, legged it from some giants and circled back round to the cathedral ward lamp.

My next aim is to raise funds for the Ludwig blade and then break into the old workshop but is there anything else I could be doing right now in the area covered before I make my way to the fourth boss, wherever it is??

You have to beat a certain area or get the item for Cainhurst Castle but you should be fine now. Upper Cathedral ward opens after Blood starved beast I think. For Cainhurst Castle, go to Witches abode lamp and run back to the area with a few of those axe guys and there should be a pillar that is kind of glowing in the middle of the area, just walk up to it and you get a cut scene.

You can also buy the hunter mark or whatever it's called for 10000 souls and just open the door where the big cloaked guy with the axe is walking up and down the stairs. Then just explore a bit and you get there.

Thank you! Supposedly I need to get a key in the Unseen Village to open the Upper Cathedral. I hate that place. :(

As I've found with most of the bosses he seemed pretty easy. It was my gf howling down my ear that lead me to get killed by him.

Without really trying I got his health half way down.

He doesn't do anything until you get him half way, after that he starts using magic attacks but it's still not too hard.
