Gaming Bloodborne (PS4)

Sensational game. fecking nightmare, soul-crushing, maybe even a little less hard than I expected so far, but still....nightmare. 9/10

Has anyone levelled up blood tinge?

On one of my characters I have 40 bloodtinge, 30 strength for the canon. Its powerful. Evelyn is another good weapon with it... I aimed to stick to the repeating pistol with the 40 tinge on that character, but it wasnt very effective. So now I keep the canon and repeating pistol and switch between them, canon for the damage and parry with the repeater - which it isnt very good for and takes up 2 bullets, but its still a parry and your gunshot does a bit more damage

I think I'm close to completing it. Have been quite addicted to it tbh. I love the art style, the setting and the atmosphere is brilliant. I recommend using headphones. It's more creepy than being an actual horror game which is perfect for me. I love the style of the characters and some of the armour sets. You start to feel like you're in control of the scariest thing in the game. The combat is perfect for me. I don't like it to be slow and clunky but I don't like it unrealistically quick and I think the balance is perfect.
For the most part it's not as hard as made out to be its just a challenging game where you have to learn the mechanics. You get punished for trying to force things or taking on more than you can handle. That being said the game rewards you for being aggressive at the right times and that's what I like about it. I wouldn't want to be hidden behind a shield and I love the fact they are not
meant to be :')
used in the game. Basically get the dodge mastered, slowly move through and learn the environments and it's ok for the most part. The hardest parts are when you advance into new areas and aren't sure what to expect or where you have to go but whenever I've felt at my limit of exploring anymore, I've managed to find a shortcut, a lamp or a new boss. Even if you die to the boss you now know where you're going next time and can get there a lot quicker.
There are a couple of small negatives I think. No pause option is weird. I've played offline mostly but when online I've never had any interactions apart from messages on the floor. It just seems silly not to have it. Perhaps they want you to play whole sections without stopping but it can be inconvenient and I just ran back to where I'd killed everything and hope I'd be in one piece when I got back. Framerate is very solid most of the time but it can dip briefly but quite noticeably in some boss fights when there's a lot going on. Luckily it hasn't screwed me over but it could. And lastly whilst I like the environments and theme I've found ive not enjoyed the last few hours as much just because I'm tired of being in the dark for so long. Its not something they should even consider changing but it is a fairly long game in a dreary place.
Definitely one of the best games I've played and its the best game on the PS4. Would highly recommend it.
On the whole pause thing, just hit start and then exit game, when you start again you'll be right where you left off. It's essentially a pause button, it's just they don't want to have a pause button in game because it's meant to be always online, alwyas the potential to be invaded.

I had to do that to get out of some snag glitch, handy enough.

(Chalice) Lower Pthumerian Labyrinth, Depth 3, Layer 3 boss has given me Rom. I beat him first time in the normal game but inside this room and with him levelled up, he's proving to be a bit of a challenge

Right I'm having a crack at this now. Do I have to fight this wolf thing at the start or can I do something else at hunters dream?

You can all stop panicking now I figured out how to equip my weapons and beat him easily. Only took me an hour.

I sold my Kirkhammer.
Kirkhammer was crap for me.

Have to lay it away for a while. 6 hours on the clock, still before Gascoigne as I haven't had much time to play recently but my character is already level 21. It's a game I'll probably play for north of a year anyway so I don't mind being a bit behind, when I get back from Easter I'll complete Dying Light, start FarCry 4 or Dragon Age and play Bloodborne in the meantime with them.

Think I'm on the last boss. Out of blood vials. He's tough.

I've done everything there on two different characters now and I still get lost

Wtf are those alien things? One shot me from about a mile away and killed me.

One positive for that area is the amount of echoes you can farm.

Was it worth it?

I just left him after he killed me a few times.

It was satisfying and I suppose worth it in that you can move freely without being shot at constantly.

Had you not unlocked the shortcut?

Once that's open you don't have to worry about him at all because you'll never get in his eye line.

I imagine leaving him alive will give me some alternative item/storyline. That's what it's was like in Souls.

You can find out later what they are... The ones with the strands coming off them are a pain in the ass once they have casted their spell

I'm not entirely convinced I'll ever beat father gascoigne, and I'm pretty sure I've explored everything I can in the sewers which appears to leave me with just him to beat in order to progress.

Not this time, you have to meet him in special circumstances.

  • Can this NPC be an ally?: Yes
  • The only time Djura will become friendly is when the player visits the Darkbeast Paarl for the first time and gains the 1 Insight for entering the boss room.
    • Djura can still become permanently hostile as listed below even after he has become friendly.
  • To avoid hostility when Djura is friendly, the player must approach Djura from the back of Old Yharnam and avoid going in front of the tower before approaching him from the ladder.
  • When the player talks to Djura when he is friendly, the player will have the choice to "Hunt the beasts of Old Yharnam" or "Spare the beasts of Old Yharnam".

  • Can this NPC be an enemy?: Yes
  • Djura will become permanently hostile in one of the following ways:
    1. The player is spotted on the front side of his tower when he is manning the gun (prior to sparing the beasts). (Not True, reloading the area will make him no longer hostile until you walk in front of him again.)
    2. When Djura is friendly and the player attacks him.
    3. When Djura is friendly and the player chooses to "Hunt the beasts of Old Yharnam".
    4. When Djura is friendly and the player agrees to spare the beasts, but attacks one of the monsters in front of the tower (including the hunter at the base of the tower and excluding the ravens).
  • Drops: If killed, will drop (875) Blood Echoes and Powder Keg Hunter Badge. The Rifle Spear, Stake Driver, Ashen Hunter Set will also become available for purchase within the Hunter's Dream.

Just practice parrying him and keep a stack of molotovs for the final phase if you're desperate

Have you got the music box?

He's the boss I had the most issues with so far.

Hmmm I was gonna spare him to see what happens later but after reading that feck it im gonna go back and kill him. I killed two other hunters in the Cathedral Ward hanging around the "bless us with blood" church. I basically just stood on the roof of the church and molotov'd them untill their life was down a bit and went down to finish the job, got some electric papers off one and not too sure what i got off the other. There was a sack demon hanging around there too when I went down to get my items and explore so I made a very swift exit.

Am still stuck on him... The normal chalices are all the same for everyone, the root ones are random. But he's hard as feck with no space to maneuver basically. Had him down to a sliver multiple times but keep bottling it at the end and rushing things to end it.

I got him after a couple more attempts but the next boss on layer 4 killed me and I stopped there. Went to finish off the optional bosses I missed to get some more chalices.

I expect my level helped out on Rom as the "popular twitch streamers" in Soulbrandt (Brandon505, Yukaslegion, etc) are championing level 110 for the pvp meta. So I levelled up to 110

Yeah my guy is at 100 and I stopped levelling but my mistake was not focusing on one thing so I don't do as much or have as much as I should at that level to him
Need like a perfect fight to kill him... Initially was going to do strength but then the blades of mercy were so fun to use that I started levelling that up and I ended up having a pretty even spread.
My second character is just pure endurance and skill though as I got the blades early so I'll just focus on those. Amazing how much quicker you can get through everything on your second play through, probably takes a third of the time if not less.

Can someone tell me how you know if weapons scale? And what exactly that means? I'm a dumb dumb.
Hit start and click on your weapons, in the middle column with all the stats first it shows the base damage and then +?? and those question marks is the scaling damage, at the bottom of that column there's a section called attribute bonus and it has 4 icons (strength, skill, bloodtinge and arcane) and a letter next to whichever one it scales by. From worst to best it goes E, D, C, B, A and S. So your weapon only gets stronger as you level up if you level up the attribute that the weapon scales with.

I haven't I don't think, where can I get that?
The ladder in the sewers (the one on the corner I think). Leads to another ladder and there's a window right before a gate that you open as a shortcut where you talk to a girl.

Thank you!

Ahhh, still stuck on Blood-starved beast!! Tried summoning help this time and despite my partner providing a good distraction for a bit, they ultimately died and the same struggle happened again ( I didn't exactly give much help, but I thought that my roll to the left and smack it up the bum if the opportunity arises otherwise let it go off in a frenzy tactic was better than fighting it toe to toe). I'm finding the first two stages of the fight easy but can't live with the final form, I inevitably get poisoned and get slapped across the ground when trying to find cover to use antidote and heal, and even if I do recover then it's just a matter of time before I get caught out. I'm gonna myself and my cleaver a ret for now but I need new ideas peeps!!!

Too stressful for me, ive been playing Dying Light with surround sound on, and that game has me shitting my pants. I get to too fecking tense when those night crawlers come out and im running for my life.

feck that shit, give me Bambi any day.

I called for help against those witches in The Forbidden Woods, dude dies STRAIGHT AWAY. Thankfully it was pretty easy second time round and I got my 40k echoes back.
