Not got a clue what the hell is going on. I'm just running round nearly dying and going from some place to another place until something kills me. What exactly am I supposed to be doing?
After a 2-day infection that made me unable to play it properly I got back to it today. Level 19, think I will go to the sewers. Is there any shortcut that doesn't require me to go past wolves and bonfire with lots of enemies?
Go through the left gate you unlocked after those wolves (if you did), go in the house and straight through the other door if you unlocked it, if you didn't then just go left instead of in the house, run past the 2 big guys or kill them, go up the stairs on your right and turn right again to open the door so you don't have to do that again, turn around and run straight and you're there basically.
Meant to be a later game area, though it's not exactly the same one.
You get sent there by getting killed by the sack guy, you can find the tonitrus (weapon) if you explore to the left after exiting the building and a really cool looking armor set to the right after exiting the building. Not much else you can do though. Later you get sent to an identical place, but not the same lamp and you can't use that one anymore. Basically like the same area but in an alternate world, without the boss, but later on you'll get the boss.
The video is about Father Gascoigne's storyline, he's a popular topic in this thread so far and its interesting to see it all pieced together at least in one theory. Now please only watch it if you have beaten him (which I'm pretty sure you must do early in the story to progress) and would like to know about things you might have missed quest-wise if you didn't meet a family member of his beforehand... Also at about 6:30 into the video it carries on with the story from later into the game. So if you did manage to progress the quest in your game, you probably want to quit the video there and avoid the spoilers which will come right after.
So yeah its a good video showing what happens when you do the quest storyline and has good insight from the editor. But are we missing something? Could it be that somehow theres a happier ending for some of the family members that we just dont know how to achieve yet?

I've been following EpicNameBro's playthrough. His videos are up to where I am in the game so I'm avoiding spoilers. He gets into the lore a lot, and he worked on the official guide so knows loads. Learning the lore makes me love the game even more. I did the same thing with Souls.
Just beat the Blood Demon! Although I did cheese it with molotovs, got it's health half way down with them. I also spent some insight so I guess that lowered the difficulty. Gascoigne's gear is awesome. Now I've no idea where to go. Also got a key thingy off that gatling gun hunter.
Have to say, this is one of the best games I've plsyed in a long while. Reminds me of a mature version of Ocarina of Time.
It's nice to hear someone pronounce Gascoigne properly! Cool video! I'm getting really pissed off with
the spiders and spider larvae thing in the lake. I know I can beat him but I just find it hard work getting to his body. By the time I get to him I've used up all of my stamina
...going to have to go farm some blood vials. I found a decent place for that actually just before you get to the
witch. There's 3 big dudes with axes that usually drop multiple blood vials
Oh and after reading the posts in the thread I decided to go back to the
unseen village where I found the weapon and some really cool and creepy looking armour. I then stumbled into the boss who was tough but not too bad when you figure out what you need to do. Also the woman praying/crying at the bottom of the jail can be saved if you where a church outfit. She also explains a bit about what those sack dides are up to
Beat the Blood Starved Beast first time, epic fight, was doing great then suddenly the
poison clouds get into action
and he messes me up, in the end I have two vials and just go running in crazy and manage to kill him, love the feeling of beating bosses in Souls games, gets you really pumped up. Anyway I moved forward, then suddenly some weird thing attacked me and now I'm in the Unseen Village, this place is tough...
Beat the 2nd boss last night but feel a bit guilty for summoning someone for help. I killed him myself in the end after the guy I summoned was killed, but he did a lot of the work. I don't feel I'm ready for what's ahead.
At the same place at the moment. I find killing all of the small spiders makes the early stages easier but the final stage when he's hailing blue stuff on you non stop gets me every time. I've wasted so many souls on vials because I'm too lazy to farm. I've even summoned help twice but both times the idiots were too gung ho died almost instantly!

I used fire paper to up my damage and used my saw cleaver which is quite quick. What I ended up doing was go in for 3 quick and hits then ran away. I didn't kill any of the spiders I just rolled and ran by them.

It's actually not too bad of a boss fight once you learn his move set really... You don't even need to get rid of the spiders, just keep circling around him at a pretty safe distance until you see an opening, give him a few hits then move back. Then when he starts doing the magic things do a circled run, as they fall where you would be if you kept running straight so if you keep running on an angle and don't go straight, you won't get hit.
That's how From Soft make their games. Very little will be explained, you'll be expected to piece things together yourself. Reading item descriptions is always useful and will reveal the lore.
If you're still struggling you can grind and level up for a while now.
I've killed everything from the first section except for that big thing banging on the door. He chased me and I hid and now I'm terrified of dying and having to do it again.

There's a few ways, beat spider or die to the guys with sacks
Rom is somehow involved in keeping people from seeing the unseen village/etc. I remember a note near the beginning somewhere that said the spider in bygernwerth is conducting rituals keeping them from seeing their master. Killing him brings an end to whatever was going on and then I guess all can be seen
The sack guys will kidnap you and throw you in the prison in the unseen village. Why? I'm not sure. Why is the door open?
But inside those sacks...
I believe its been revealed that inside the sacks are babies. In other notes it has been found that the old ones (or was it great ones?) long for babies as they remind them of the infant children they have all lost. So something to do with the process of becoming a great/old one means they must sacrifice their child

I'm level 40 at the moment (was level 29 yesterday when I asked this).
I do have one more question regarding weapons. I currently have Ludwig's blade at +5. Under weapon description there are letters like C B B, etc.. I suppose they mean the weapon's strength is connected to upgrading certain skills points?
I beat him every single time, as well as all his friends, when I was level 10 and well before beating Cleric Beast. Now I'm at level 19, beat Cleric Beast comfortably at first attempt and have been killed three times in a row by this fecker. I am going to take it slow, now I am playing GTA, I intend to get to level 25 by Easter and then move on.
Did I make a mistake getting the Kirkhammer? The sword seems to take more hits to kill than my Saw Cleaver and the hammer while powerful is cumbersome and leaves me susceptible to hits.

I think you have to find weapons that suit you and the way you play. I don't like the Kirkhammer either but others seem to love it. You definitely want a heavier weapon I really like Ludwigs Holy Blade.
Now I have no idea where to go. I spent an hour afterward wandering around. I did see same nasty looking things in the distance which I avoided so I'm guessing it's that way
