Television Better Call Saul | Includes Breaking Bad Spoilers

 I couldnt take it seriously so couldnt read the whole thing. Just seemed too ridiculous that article.

Fantastic show; best show on at the moment, in my opinion (although I haven't caught the latest episodes of The Americans.) I love the pacing, as I did with Breaking Bad, and I also love the camera work.

Another underwhelming finale.

Wow! That was horrible! One of the worst episodes of the season, and it's a finale...

The one and only "important" moment was the end scene, and we know he's not getting disbarred, so that too is complete shit.

:|

They should just stop this monotonous monstrosity between Chuck and Jimmy. I don't know if Gilligan's is trying to portray the paradox in the story arcs of Mike and Jimmy, but if he is, he's doing a terrible job in all honesty. Mike's moments are fast paced, mysterious, even borderline suspenseful. Jimmy's on the other hand is a poor man's chess game. Very boring, very predictable and if you just forwarded to the final bit, you wouldn't miss a thing.
They should have made Mike the main focus of a prequel and Saul's christening more of a filler.

Not looking forward to Season 3.

That was horrible. I'd rather a really bad finale (like the Dexter final episode or final episode of Weeds) where at least something happens. But this was just another typical poorly written and structured episode. You could have watched the first and last episode of the season and really not missed much.

Breaking Bad started off really slow as well. Season 1 was painfully slow at times.

I would expect this to pick up pace next season. Mike's story arc provides enough drama to counter any dullness on Jimmy's end.

It's good. We have seen where and what Jimmy came from and is eventually headed for. Is nobody interested to find out what happens to Kim in the future?

Nothing bloody happens on this show.

I thought the whole season was building up to Mike putting Hector in the wheelchair but even that didn't happen.

I found myself constantly thinking just get on with it as it was going so slowly.

Yet I still cannot wait for season 3

I liked this season but the last episode was shit.

Why are they so scared to do anything? Whenever a gun gets pointed for example, I always know they will wuss out and they always do. Something really needed to happen in that finale. Hector getting crippled. Jimmy becoming Saul. A shocking death.

Also what was the point in the whole "Frings back" thing?

As an afterthought,

Who do we think left the note on the car for Mike ? My personal guess is his daughter-in-law. She's not had any screen time since that Pipe thing, so maybe she din't buy the whole Rhododendron story and decided to tail him.

Yeah, I remember that. But the cinematography was ace. The acting was peerless even if story development was painstakingly slow. This has none of that. Even those vignettes in BCS are a chore.

Loved the idea of the show being about Saul at first but that episode was the perfect example of how much better it would be with Mike as the primary character.

Retirement law and two seasons of this shitty electricity storyline. Breaking bad got the balance right and were able to build suspense through the slow parts but this is the opposite. Zero interest in the wellbeing of the main characters.
i didn't care in the slightest when it turned out he was recording him at the end

We barely know a thing about Kim and she's a main character. Luckily they have an open net with the ability to bring back previous characters.

Breaking Bad had a somewhat unusual storyline that allowed for creative writing and suspenseful episodes through drugs and crime. The speed of it kinda makes sense if they're aiming for 6 seasons but I can't imagine they wrote the first two seasons with those expectations. They've done absolutely nothing with Kim to make her interesting.

I think that's the problem with this. I just don't care about any of the characters, Mike aside. I was genuinely tense for Mike when that note appeared, even though we obviously know that Mike isn't going to buy it yet ... but the whole Jimmy and Chuck thing, they've dragged it on and on and on and nothing has changed. Jimmy is still the crook with moments of goodness, Chuck is still a bitter old man. And they were both that when the series started and will likely be that by the time it's cancelled.

And (imo) it's nonsense to compare BB and this with the explanation that BB was similarly slow in its first season. Within the first 7 episodes Walt had changed completely as a human being, and had gone from scared, bumbling teacher to a murderer who had literally and figuratively changed his identity and was willing to go head to head with a sadistic drug kingpin, blowing up his base of operations in the process. 7 episodes. In 20 Jimmy is still Jimmy.

I'm not sure whether we need to use spoilers still.

The note was clearly Fring. As we all know he didn't want Hector to die until he looked him in the eye.[\Spoiler]

Gus.

Meh after 2 seasons I think I'm done. I loved BB (favourite show) and the characters in BCS but it's so fecking slow. He should be Saul Goodman now, there must be a million situations involving Saul they could be showing.

They teased us at the beginning of Season 1 & 2 of Saul Goodman post-Breaking Bad, it's the only thing that intrigues me with this show, but at this rate we'll be waiting until season 6 for him to turn into Saul and it'll be long cancelled before then. I was hoping they kill Chuck off this episode, but now we'll have Chuck v Jimmy the blackmailing revenge plot story next season until Chuck croaks it. I bet him and Mike's story don't cross again.

You really need to finish BB.
I know that. Many have told me the same thing. But now having known the story (more or less), I doubt I can generate the same sort of interest in it as I had at the start.
I pretty much ruined it for myself with the sabbatical.

Nah, I've rewatched and it's still great even when you know what's coming - finish it, you'll enjoy it.

This series needs to do what dragon ball z did and make a version with all the filler taken out. If Gus is going to be in season 3, Ill be tempted to watch it otherwise it's quite disappointing.

I like both but it has to have something more than that. Does it?

I think you are right. I like the show and will continue watching it but for it to truly elevate itself to very good/great TV it would have to engage the viewer with all four key characters (Jimmy, Mike, Chuck and Kim), and make us actually care about them, in the absence of genuine plot drama for the most part.

The show is largely character driven and yet Kim and Chuck feel under-explored, expendable and bordering on dislikeable (and not in the interesting way where you can simultaneously hate and yet be fascinated by them). Maybe they should have had more focus on Hector or Tuco as we know they stick around for longer and they would have likely injected more excitement in to the show. Introducing Gus might help if that does happen next season.
