Right, just saw that Jorge Mendes is his agent but still confused how this can allow us to have first refusal when he was never our player in the first place.
It sounds like bullshit, but if it were true maybe it was some strange clause implemented within the Martial deal. Or just some sort of gentleman's agreement that went on in negotiations.

I'd say thats a fairly likely outcome. He'd be going from a team where he has great movement around him and options to us where we all stand around like statues in attack. The only player I could see him gelling with straight away is Mkhitaryan, and even then I think they'd spend a lot of time wanting to get the ball in the same areas as each other.

I disagree, I think he's exactly what we're missing, he's got everything that Mata has been lacking down that right hand side, I've never seen a player who'd fit us so perfectly. Forget Griezmann, Verratti, whoever, this guy is 100% who we need.

Mkhi can play on that side and while I've never been Mata's biggest fan he has proven to be able to do a good job for us in the PL. We are missing another proper source of goals who can hit 20 from one of the forward roles outside of the #9, Silva doesn't score enough in a side already low on goal threat, he's ideal for Monaco because they have several other forwards all bagging double figures, so his lack of goals is less important.
So many great players at Monaco, but he is the one I would like us to get most. Very special player.

Nothing wrong in having both of them and having strong options. Real have the luxury of Isco, James, Kavacic et al on the bench, Bayern with Costa, Muller etc. William and Fabregas for Chelsea
All the players you mentioned kind of proved my point. Very all different in style. Costa is direct, Muller isn't.
Fabregas and Willian don't even play the same position, but again, Willian is very direct, Fabregas is more of a passer.
James plays on the wing for Madrid, but very rarely gets ahead of Bale, but they have different styles.
Isco and Kovacic are centre midfielders.
Just think having two different styles would enable us to mix things up a bit, instead of bringing on like for like, meaning it won't always change the game.

Going to agree with those who say he isn't quite what we need. Great talent but with Mkhi in the side, we need pace on the flanks.. I like Lemar more tbh.
Lemar isn't faster and he plays a lot more inside.
Lamar runs more with the ball, so his more consistent with his ball carrying and I reckon he'd translate well into an EPL side. Silva would be ideal for us if we didn't already have Mkhi.
Either way, I think both of them are not really what United need.
What we need is a Fabinho type DM, and we need Ousman Dembele/Coman/Douglas Costa on the right flank. Those two positions are crying out for investment.

No. Silva in the french league, he looks a real ball carrier but having watched him in Europe now.. I think there are limitations to his effectiveness in terms of dynamism with the ball in wider areas. To get the best out of him, he needs to be in a free-flowing attacking side and he needs to be given licence to roam. I just feel with United, we historically struggle to bring out the best out of those type of wide playmaker types and he'd be a slight upgrade on Mata in the long run, but ideally we need a Dembele, a pace merchant outwide.
Probably would just be easier to become Monaco fans.
I think he's too good to miss out on, or art least try for. The only issue is the massive queue that you can sense is probably forming right now. I suspect that all the big clubs will have an interest.
He's a player that will decide many big games in the future.

There is going to be a war for this guy in the summer and rightly so, he's already amazing and he's going to get even better.
