City aren't getting Berba, Villa or any other top quality player. There's no way you can bid for a player late evening on deadline day and iron everything including a medical, in a matter of a few hours. And Marca are just trying to up Chelsea's bid for Robinho.

To be honest, if you clear all the crap away it's not really all that exciting. Anyhow, we've got until 12 to thrash out a deal with Spur. Squeaky bum time for all parties concerned. And there's no question about that.

2023: "There are deals we're chasing and bids we've put in, I don't know how many will come to a successful resolution. It's always difficult on the last day of the window. As for Berbatov, I'd like the chance to speak to him, but I haven't been afforded that opportunity yet. We're in there trying, though."

Well put. No denying that.

its very rare. three days dry - good to have a reset every now and then but i find time seems to slow right down - very odd.

deco is worse though, no doubt about that.

my dealers been inconsiderate in having a baby so isnt in work for another week or so and my alternative is an hour or so away by foot, i dont drive and i dont have his number as generally my aforementioned 'friend' in the dam usually drives there whilst i sit as shotgun support.

How dare they........How selfish!. After a few days off it, i can't seem to think without conjuring ridiculously vivid, yet silly situations and images in my head.

Most of the guys i know drive, so it's not too much of an issue if i'm not on the road. :D

tbh honest i disagree with spoonov saying its not that exciting.

general transfer muppetry is pretty bloody dull but when our neighbours and rivals get taken over and become the chelsea of the north bidding for villa and berbatov within hours, whilst we give berbatov a medical and spurs say we havent permission...

i'd say thats pretty exciting tbh

Berbatov - a Manchester United player in minutes? (01 Sep 2008)
Some websites report that Berbatov has already passed a medical at Old Trafford and is going to sign with the club very soon. Gong.bg claims that Berbatov has declined Machester City's offer and will not play for the Citizens. Expect more details soon!

So, can someone please fill me in: (I've only just got up, see)

City have launched this whopping bid for him, have had it accepted, and have permission to talk to Berbatov.

Where are we then?

The press seemed to make out we'd agreed a fee of 28m with Spurs, and that the contract/medical just needed to be made out - that was a couple of days ago.

Does anyone know quite where we stand with this?

I would hate the rest of the day, if City were to get him!!!!!

1) City and Real Madrid have put in bids for him, and Spurs have accepted.
2) Berbatov, as we understand, is in Manchester doing a medical for us.
3) Levy's whining about how we don't have permission to talk to Berbatov.
4) Unless Berbatov has wings, he's not going to Real Madrid - he can't really finalise a deal in 3 hours 26 minutes, can he?

Would've been exciting had they actually had a chance to buy these players. I doubt they'll get any of them. I agree with Simon, it's a PR exercise on the part of their new owners. . .and Sky's making it out to be something it's not. Robinho to Chelsea and Berb to United are the only big transfers that are on.

United favourites to complete Berbatov deal after striker has Old Trafford medical

Manchester United are still favourites to sign Tottenham's wantaway striker Dimitar Berbatov despite a £34million bid from cross-city rivals City.
Tottenham have accepted City's bid but Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson is reported to have held talks with the Bulgarian after offering Spurs £20m plus young striker Fraizer Campbell.

Following that meeting Berbatov is believed to have completed a medical, which puts United in the driving seat to complete one of the summer's biggest and long-lasting transfer deals.

Tottenham have made no formal statement on discussions with United while reports of a £36m offer from Spanish giants Real Madrid appear wide of the mark.
