Berbatov

I must say I disagree BR.
It really is irritating to wade through a lot of nonsense in order to find something which relates to the topic.
I know a lot of you like these kinds of threads - the terrible Tevez thread taught me that - but I personally find it mildly irritating, mostly because there's so much - the "Berba-words" were funny the first 5 times - but it now seems like half of the words in the dictionary has been modified.

I don't think it's a coincidence, that the most active poster in this threads a couple of weeks ago, Pogue, hasn't posted a single post in here for over a week.
He too didn't like all the off-topic stuff.

You really don't. It's an odd logic that if nothing is happening then we'll just have to post a lot of nonsense instead - then there should be a Berbatov thread in the General where people, who don't like the transfer inactivity, could post stuff like 'words made out of Berbatov'.

If there's nothing to discuss then that's it really in my book.

I'm not talking about yours or BeardedGenius' photoshop-pictures as they actually related to the topic in some way, and were funny - not that I should or would be the judge as to what's funny and what's not, but the images wouldn't have been funny either if they were posted by every single poster on here every third minute.
lorcanjc said it quite well when he described it as "spam".

Again, I can see a lot of you like these threads, and thus I haven't said anything, but just wanted to defend my opinion here.

It was the exact same thing that happened to the Tevez thread which in the end got moved to the General.

Now, how about that Berbatov transfer, eh?

There is too much utter rubbish to moderate out so we either can the whole thread and start again or just leave it to restrict the spamming to a single thread.

I say blame the nonsense on Levy, if he wasnt being such atwat this would have long since been over

Spurs Snare £12m Pavlyuchenko - Report

Pavlyuchenko shocked Europe yesterday when, only days after intimating his desire to stay in Russia, he announced that he would be joining Spurs.

And The Sun has backed up the 26-year-old's declaration by claiming that the Lilywhites have in fact agreed a £12million deal with Spartak.

The Mostovskoy-born striker is almost certainly a direct replacement for Dimitar Berbatov, who now appears destined to complete his dream switch to Manchester United after falling out with his team-mates and manager Juande Ramos.

The ex-Rotor Volgograd player will tussle with Darren Bent for a spot in the starting XI at White Hart Lane, as Ramos seems to prefer using a lone target-man supported by the likes of Giovani dos Santos and Luka Modric.

The Londoners had been keen on Pavlyuchenko's international team-mate, Andrei Arshavin, but they dropped their interest after Zenit St. Petersburg jacked up their asking price.

Pavlyuchenko will arrive in the English capital today to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms.

Looks like berba could ifnally be coming your way, and spurs are destined to another mid table finish.

Does anyone on here actually want BERBATOV?

If 25million is the fee, frankly, I think SAF would be better braeking the bank and paying 35m for BENZEMA.

BERBATOV will play role Im sure, but can he out do the contribution Yorke made? And do so for at least 4 seasons. Only then is he worth such a fee.

its too late to get benzema this summer. if we want benzema, we'll have to go a full season not buying a striker. are you prepared to do that?

Who says we could get Benzema anyway, let's go for what's good for us, we wont have the best manager in the world forever

Poque with 487? What have you lot done to him??

To be fair to Pogue, his posts were mostly in healthy debates with GlastonSpur.

Seems like Spurs could finally let Berbatov go after seemingly (acording to internet sources) they are about to sign russian Pavlyuchenko.

What baffles me is that Spurs do have a lot of transfer money available after selling Keane and what-not and they a also looking at ways to bring Milito to Spurs. So why the hell do they demand triple the money they bought Berbatov for.

Spurs and Levy are no better than greedy pigs.

If you think this was bad, I'm gladly informing you that we bought Michael Carrick for 6 times more than what he was bought for. Also from Spurs.

Is it a lack of communication between the clubs. or is it a battle of ego's thats fecking this whole deal up??

May be the deal has been agreed in principal...wait for Spurs to get a replacement. There has been no quote from both side in the last few days. Only newspaper speculations.

No they are not. They are fighting to get the best possible price for their best player. They are doing nothing wrong. It is us who are squabbling over a few petty million which we could quite easily make back.

we are not Chelsea who will just throw any amount of money for the player they want.

if we cant afford him , we wont sign him
if they need to sell him , they will negotiate

there is nothing wrong with holding out for a better offer

spurs have spent more money they they have recieved from sales so far
if they want to spend more , they will need to sell someone.. they are no chelsea either

Levy always strikes me as being a rather weak man, which is dangerous since he will very likely do silly things to prove how 'ard he is. I suspect Joe Lewis will arrive and tell him to get on with it quite soon.

I am waiting for breaking news saying we have agree a fee with spurs and he will have his medical soon.

vALID point but just do what i do when it gets too much and go away from the thread until there is a development. In such a way you'll catch it at a time where people are discussing issues rather than talking bullocks. I started off as one of the main posters in here but the saga is tiresome enough without following each and every bit of spam in all!! the end is nigh

Its levy ego that is stopping the deal, and recent media reports that spurs have to make a embarrassment climbdown on the complaint to FA and compromise off the fee hasn't help matters either,it has made levy and spurs more resolute..

When did Dwight Yorke become the benchmark for United forwards? Very odd.

maybe the year we won the treble and he was awsome scoring mega important goals all the way through the season?

i know what you mean though he is a strange choice

Excuse me. I have better things to do than talk shite. I enjoy long threads. My posts are on topic most of the time although I do tend to drift off into neverneverphotoshopland at times.
Some good posters in this thread and we're all over it if any new "news" arrives and we disect it to death. Problem in this thread is that there's so little stuff coming out so we have to do something.
These critics of other posters always get me down. Like we're disturbing them. If you are truly interested in this topic you should get up in the morning, read all the posts from where you left off, and continue. There are always some good posts and some further nuances to add to the deal. I find it entertaining. If you just want news, I recommend

Well said Bahama. You tell 'em bud!
