Berbatov

i hate how fecking rediculous these sagas are

I personally think we wont sign him now, if we do itll have to be today or tomorrow i think

As Benzema seems tied up at Lyon, would it really be so bad if we paid £20m for Huntelaar instead of £25-28m for Berbatov?

Everyone is going on about Berbatov's link up play and silky touch (absolutely agreed!) but we have Rooney, Tevez, Ronaldo, Nani to create, and Huntelaar would hopefully just knock them in.

At least we would be sure of having another striker, and he's not exactly a poor 2nd choice is he?

It wouldn't be so bad if we did, but he's been available all summer and we haven't went in for him so I think it's safe to say we aren't genuinely interested.

Berbatov is a much better striker anyway.

Sky sports news have just shown him turning up for training at Spurs this morning.

Bearing in mind the squad will be off to France on Thursday afternoon for the Super cup, and not back until Saturday, this means we must sign him today, tomorrow or on deadline day.

Personally if it hasn't happened by Thursday at 5pm I'd say it never will.

The window got extended one day, so we have until the end of Monday to sign him.
So that leaves tomorrow, Wednesday, late Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

The chances of us signing him looking bleak...

:lol::lol:

Daniel Levy has got to be the dumbest smart person in football. He is wasting his own time by stalling over Berbatov. This whole saga has overshadowed their start to the season and results have been poor. The best thing to do is clear him out, take the money and bring replacements in while they still have time.

Levy's a businessman. The quicker he caves over Berbatov, the lower the fee. He's doing the right thing, IMO. We mightn't like it, but Spurs' Board will.

I thought Calderon was bad but this arse'ole, Levy, is matching him. If I was a Spurs fan I'd be very alarmed at the arrogance of this idiot. He seems to be bent on trying to prove himself above all, no doubt in the belief that what benefits him, by definition, benefits the club. Hubris or what? The thing about this summer's sagas is what it has shown of the serious and, potentially, damaging limitations of some club Chairmen. (I'll leave Bladder out as its a given that he's a twat)

Business doesn't like brinksmanship, that's for kids or reality TV shows. Neither does it like huge egos. What it likes is things to be planned and done sweetly, in plenty of time with no rush or panic. It also like good judgement which, to date, Levy hasn't shown.

lets get to the brink of signing him and agreeing on paying 30 mil then at the deadline sign someone else and tell levy to shove it up his arse. that'll please me no end.

Football is far different than normal businesses. Transfers happen at short notice, when it suits both parties. Brinksmanship is an integral part of negotiating. I would bet my house that Spurs are more than happy with how negotiations are going so far. They still have a week, and if they move too soon, they will lose a few million quid.

Wrong. If they leave it late to sell him, even if they get the 30m, they will not have time to buy adequate replacements and on current form with only Daren Bent as a striker they will struggle to get in the top 6. Villa, Blackburn, Newcastle, Portsmouth, Everton, City all look better at the moment.

Getting the extra few million for Berbatov will likely mean they fail to reach european qualification and lose far more in the long run.

Levy is damaging the team for the sake of his personal feelings.

I bet Ramos would get rids asap and rather be looking for players with the cash.

I think Spurs are coming out of this with very little credibility at all.

Are we reportedly looking at someone else as well?

We should be but I get the feeling SAF sees it as Berbs or nothing at the moment.

Personally I feel we should put in a good offer stating that it is our final offer and set a deadline for a Spurs decision. If we cannot reach an agreement by that time then we shall look elsewhere.

Sorry been quiet with any info a few days, but I'm not gnna post for sake of it, have to do my due diligence. Remember I said on Friday that Berbs & Bale to start saturday, well Bale started and Berbs cried sick. Here is reason that club know to be true, but can't prove: He was advised by his associates not stay free of injury and seek way of not playing as he would be a mancs player by midweek, we all know the rest.

Mancs have not proved up that they have required dosh, as I've said on numerous occassions. We really don't believe move will transpire. The idiot knows that as well and not liking it one bit.

Ashtray, nothing changed, ZSP pesturing the life out of us to deal, we've had enough and can't trust them again, coz they've cried wolf one time too much. We are very close to new striker deal, JR really wants Ashtray, so who knows.

Two loan transfers DM/CH lined up if all else fails, plus one striker.

I'm told that its a shambles and hacking everyone off.

We confident of 3-4 transfers which could include loans in that. Here is the interesting part: Club believe that name leaks been plugged, and no one can name names, so ITK/NITK CANNOT SAY PEEPS

Always funny to read SPURS ITK :D

All of that is premised on them not being able to agree deals between now and the time Berbatov signs, and then completing them once they know the have gotten rid. Focussing on one deal to the exclusion of all others would be downright careless, IMO.

Another parrallel between this and the Ronaldo saga.

I find it amusing so many people think Spurs are stupid or out of line making this threat when SAF made the same one to Madrid. And there were hundreds of people on here who thought it was a good idea - people saying we should sell him to Barca for tuppence instead. But now we are on the receiving end of it, things seem to look a little different.

For Spurs this is a matter of principle, as it was for us. Good luck to them, I say.

mind-games, we won't bring in anybody.

We have Tevez, Rooney, Saha, Ronaldo and Campbell as strikers. That's more than enough.

Don't forget about Manucho. I don't know why people aren't perfectly happy with our strikeforce right now. Berbatov would obviously improve it but we don't need to improve it like people still think.

There is no parallel between ronaldo and berbs saga, ronaldo was simply not for sale at any price, and spurs are holding for a particular fee...

People counting Ronaldo as a striker and Saha as available just keeps doing my head in.

Saha has averaged 20 starts a season and a fair few substitute appearances during his Manchester United career. Ronaldo can play up there very well if times get desperate.

It's like playing Fletcher on the wing when we need to, O'Shea in midfield when we have injuries or Rooney on the wing when we really need to.

Because 50% of our strike force usually is injured at the same time. If Rooney gets another metatarsal injury we are fecked.

Anyway it seems like we won't get Berbatov. I don't understand why United are messing around with the fee. Just give Spurs what they want unless it is like some people say, the Glazers don't have that kind of money without selling first.

I can't believe we haven't put another bid in yet ? Why the long waiiit ?

Because 50% of our strike force usually is injured at the same time. If Rooney gets another metatarsal injury we are fecked.

Just like if Carvalho/Terry get an injury Chelsea are fecked, or if Torres gets injured Liverpool are fecked, or if Fabregas is injured Arsenal are fecked.

Every team suffers when their best players are injured.

Between Saha, Manucho and Campbell they should be able to start 30-40 matches due to injuries and the need for a rest. I think they would be able to cope with that. Don't you?

It's like playing Fletcher on the wing when we need to, O'Shea in midfield when we have injuries or Rooney on the wing when we really need to.

Just that Ronaldo is much better upfront than Fletcher and Rooney are on the wing, and O'Shea in midfield.

Well yes, but people are so set on the idea that we need a striker that I don't think you'll find anyone in this thread who will agree with that just because that goes completely against the argument they're making.

Anyone who says we don't need a striker is either taking the piss or an idiot.

We only have two. If neither is fit - as was the case against Newcastle - we don't have any, and end up having to do stupid things like play an unfit Rooney or start a kid like Campbell. That's why Fergie's usually aimed to have four good strikers at the club. Obviously.

Of course injuries will come - that's exactly why you need a deep squad. We currently have great depth in defence and midfield, and no depth up front. That's why Fergie's trying to sign Berbatov. Berbatobviously.

Its finally happened.

Everton's completion of the deal for Lars Christian Jacobsen this morning leaves us as the only team in the Premier League yet to make a new signing. Who would have seen that coming after the season we just had? Before anyone starts a counter response, im only stating a fact not making an opinion.
