ole_gunner and surf say Rooney Tevez and Ronaldo are set to depart!

In a shocking move today at redcafe, internet stalwarts ole_gunner and surf sparked rumours that the Holy Trinity are set to leave Manchester United to make way for the inevitable signing of Berbatov from Spurs. Sources at the club are holding their cards close to their chest, but when asked if there was any truth in the rumours a man outside the stadium said 'eh?'. This, coupled with ole_gunner and surf's comments, seems to spell the unfortunate departure of United's talismanic front three, a situation which will infuriate boss Ferguson after a long summer holding off advances on Christiano Ronaldo from Madrid.

No, I didn't say that. Interrogative is not the same as affirmative. Are you Neil Custis? For what it's worth, I don't expect any of them to leave and was just questioning the original remark, hence "it depends on the club".

Hmm, how did I derive it from that, must have plucked it from the air.

Advocaat saying of Arshavin that he's 'not convinced he is leaving' is hardly saying he's staying is it? If you don't like it when journalists sensationalise manager's comments, don't do it yourself. The report said that Advocaat was 'not sure' about Arshavin's future, and so you came on here and in post #12177 claimed that 'Arshavin is not leaving'; pure sensationalism, i can see it even if you can't.

Arshavin will leave if his valuation is met. Is this sounding familiar to anybody else?

It's not fair without giving me the benefit of doubt when Dick Advocaat is being ambiguous. How do you know he is not sure, or is sure, when he is clearly being ambiguous? Whether you try to imply on my part being a sensationalist, or to misled, there is a case for argument if it reads:

Arshavin is not leaving definitely.

Fergie Pleased With Win, Admits Striker Concern

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson praised match-winner Darren Fletcher among others following the 1-0 win over Portsmouth and admitted he wants to be is not hopeful of adding to his squad in the final week of the transfer window...

The Red Devils recorded their first win of the season at Fratton Park this evening to put themselves ahead of Arsenal and just two points behind Liverpool and Chelsea - the only teams with perfect records - just two games into the new Premier League season.

The injury-hit champions put in an improved performance from their opening day draw at home to Newcastle United. Ferguson expressed his pleasure at the style in which the win was attained and praised Anderson, who had just arrived back from the Olympics and put in a fantastic, energetic performance in midfield.

"I think we played some excellent football tonight," Sir Alex told Sky Sports. "We really relied on Anderson's trust in himself, after such a long journey, he wanted to play and I think he showed it was a good decision by him.

"Historically, [Fratton Park] is a difficult place to come. Last year we drew here, the year before we lost, so it's a bonus win if we consider last season and the previous season.

"We tried to get a system where the players we had would be comfortable in their positions, i.e. Anderson central, near to [Carlos] Tevez in the spaces behind the midfield. [Paul] Scholes, trying to control the game - which I think he did - then the qualities that John O'Shea and Darren Ferguson [Fletcher] bring," continued the Scot, accidentally referring to the goal-scorer Fletcher by the name of his son, Darren Ferguson.

Fletcher has often been criticised and ridiculed for not being good enough for Manchester United and that he only plays due as he is a fellow countryman of the boss, but with his second goal in as many games from making striker-like near-post runs, Sir Alex has nothing but praise for his performances on the pitch. "He does make these runs, he made a great run in the second half also, got to the byline, squared it for Wayne [Rooney]," said Sir Alex. "He's got fantastic energy the lad, and I'm really delighted he's getting the credit he deserves."

When pressed about new signings, with the coach having said in recent weeks he is after a striker, he admitted a slight concern over their inability to bring in a player of their liking. Dimitar Berbatov remains their prime target according to the press and indications from Tottenham Hotspur would certainly suggest a move is imminent, but with just a week left in the transfer window, Sir Alex is not so sure.

"There's only a week to go and you start to concern yourself a bit," he explained. "I think we showed tonight that we've got a good quality of players here, we'd like to add obviously, but we'll just have to wait and see what happens with that."
