Berbatov

O shea should not be part of any deal for Berbatov. His commitment to the club and all round versatility makes him a priceless asset.

We all know that he isn't the best player around but, but if Evra were to get injured just before the Liverpool game i'd play Sheasy 10/10 times over an 18 year old Brazilian lad with zero experience.

£25M take-it-or-leave-it is a good move. We can't be dancing to Levy's tune until 1st Sept, not when there's other quality out there that would cost less...

Who are as good as Berbatov?

Huntelaar, Benzema, Villa, all have great potential and would be cheaper. And thats just to name some of the big names, there probably numerous other talents out there...

Huntelaar would be cheaper, but won't ever be as good. The other two would cost more.

Benzema would cost significantly more than Berbatov.

Villa perhaps doesn't have the physical presence we're looking for.

Huntelaar I guess wouldn't be a bad alternative, although he perhaps doesn't have the same ability as Berbatov.

That's your opinion on Huntelaar. Not fact. The other two might cost more but would have a greater resale vaule than Berbatov. This thread appears to have made some of you believe that Berbatov is the best thing since sliced bread and will instantly make us play better.

"Rather see", that says it all. It's not about what is better for the team. Put two teenagers who have only watched PL from the bench so far, stick your head in the sand and hope it will work out. That's how you win the league is it :wenger:.

To be fair, we have won the league with more than a couple of teenagers who never played in the Premiership before. Remember Becks, Scholes, Giggs, Nevilles and Butt.

Anyway, for the record I also happen to think O'shea is at best average.

Abso-feckin-lutely. I like Brixton. Real folk here with real lives. Plenty of characters. I think I'm the only white person here :)

A bloke got shot here last night. You don't have to watch an episode of Cops. Just stick your head out the pub window for a few minutes and you should catch something

i used to love it mate, i lived just by the skate park last year, high up above the street, and i used to love just sitting back smokin a doozin and watching the crack heads fene for drugs and chicken.:lol:

Anything above £25M for him is madness.

We don't badly need a striker.

Let us wait until Jan or next summer and get him for a much lesser price

The problem is that if we don't get him in now, we don't need him in January. We have hard fixtures until January so with bad luck on the injuries' front, we could be so far below Chelsea that it doesn't matter whether we buy someone or not. We could then as well use the season to groom in our best youngsters.

Can't see us going for him in the next summer either. It's now or never.

Chicken. That's about right for Brixton. There must be about 10 fast food chicken places. I'm kinda half way between Camberwell and Brixton......so the entrance into the place I live is near that Jamm Nightclub

Of course it's not fact. Most of what I say is opinion, very little of it is fact.

I don't want Berbatov for the record, so this thread hasn't changed my opinion of him at all. He is a great player though and would fit in as well as anyone really.

Benzema and Villa would have a bigger re-sale value, very true. But you first said they would cost less, that's all I was commenting on.

I'm also a big fan of Huntelaar, but most would agree he will probably never be as good as Berbatov.

How do you know how much either of them costs? If £25M was enough for Berbatov he would have been with us for the Newcastle game. This entire episode is about MONEY. Tottenham want more than United are prepared to give. I wonder if £25M would get Benzema.

I lived in Brixton for a number of years. Great place. Taught at Henry Thornton school on Clapham Common and Tulse Hill comprehensive.
Great education!!

Spurs seem to think Berbatov have tripled his value in 2 seasons.

Huntelaar might never have the same flair and skill as Berbatov, but he might be the kind of single-minded goalscorer that we need which I would take over Berbatov. I also think Huntelaar would react better to squad rotation.

We don't need a single minded goalscorer who does little else, we've been so successful without one over the past two years which should prove that.

I'm not sure why you think that, he said just a few months ago he would only move to a big club if he could get games regularly there.

I'll join you!
Have one on me!

weve got enough flair and skill, we need someone to shove it in the net, which is jst what Huntelaar would do,

Sell Berbatov, Sign Huntelaar

plus Hunterlaar has a better name

O'Shea played really well in CM in 2005/6 when injuries/Keane leaving left us with a central midfield of O'Shea and Giggs. We won 10 games in a row but left it too late to catch Chelsea. In 2006/7 O'Shea had a fantastic season. He played a lot of games in different positions (including in goal!) and scored some really important goals for us.

Last year he played a lot less because our squad was a lot stronger with the likes of Anderson added and we just did not need him to "do a job" so often.

It can be dissapointing to see O'Shea in the team because it always means that a first-choice player is out injured. But to talk about him as a "disgrace" , as R.Nilsson did, is just disgusting. The lad is limited in skill but not in commitment. He's contributed to title wins by us and should get the respect that deserves.

Maybe for his own career a move to another team where he can be first choice would be good, in the way it was for Phil Neville. But until that happens I'm happy to have him around as cover for the likes of Evra.

this has come up before, and i'll say now what i said then: it's no point looking to the past to justify anything. this is football, and everyone knows things change. players can grow worse or better. moreover, we have since brought in promising young players who could use a game in this position.

a classic case in point was against Newcastle, when we completely lost any cohesion when he came in centrally. that wasn't the first time.

like i've said before, i don't really mind him out as fullback, and he can even do a job as centre back. but we lose that continuity in midfield when he comes on. blind loyalty can't disguise this fact.

I've yet to hear any Utd fan disagree with that, but still his defending is pretty good when he plays there.

Things change, it's going to take more to be as successful this season. A striker of Huntelaars' ilk, might round off a maturing squad and bring us a new dominance over Europe and the rest of the league. We clearly do need someone single-minded who's going to finish of the many moves that seem to go wasted.

Sporting life are reporting that Spurs will play Berbatov in their reserves rather than accept less than 30 million.

But wasn't that issue addressed with talk about playing Ronaldo in the reserves and it was said from a legal point of view if a player gets less than a certain percentage of first team football, than the team is in breach of contract and the player can walk away on a free?

Why? We've been improving as a team year after year and we'll continue to improve even if we don't sign someone. Saying it's clear we need someone to finish off the chances is wrong. It's not clear, it's your opinion.

That's what Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez are there for, as well as being very talented players with many more attributes, something Huntelaar lacks. None of them are goalscoring strikers but they are good enough to help us win the league and Champions League double.

When I lived in London I drank in South Ken and Fulham mostly. Everyone just like me. Dullsville. I often had a sneaking urge to live dangerously and rock down to Electric Avenue...

Manucho is a typical poacher player like VNR , plus he can score from 30 yard out, remenber african nation cup. manucho is a much better player than campbell. thats right you heard it here first.

You mean RVN? If you think he's a poacher you've got a completely wrong perception of him.

It's stupid that people rate him so highly but have seen so little of him.
