There's plenty of time to replace a player. They can't dilly-dally. They've got to agree a price fast and the rest is formalities.

More players are bought on the last day of the transfer window than at any other time.

Last time they were in a need of a striker, they bought Rasiak on the last day of the window. Virtually the last-minute transfer.

FFS where do people come up with this stuff.

It that doesn't show the perils of last minute shopping, I don't know what does.

It's their problem.

As a multi-pound business I would have thought they'd already have lists of appropriate players.

Manchester United close in on £25m Berbatov as Ramos lines up Huntelaar

Juande Ramos has told the Tottenham board it is time to give up the fight to keep Dimitar Berbatov from Manchester United's clutches.

Spurs have been angered by United's public courting of their Bulgaria striker but the Spaniard wants an end to the feud so that he can bring in a replacement before the end of the transfer window on Monday.

Berbatov was left out of Saturday's defeat against Sunderland and fined a week's wages for not being ready for the White Hart Lane game.

United are ready to offer £25m for the 27-year-old and Ramos is already lining up Ajax star Klaas-Jan Huntelaar as a replacement.

A perturbed Ramos said: 'We need to get this matter resolved before the transfer deadline.

'If Berbatov goes, we will need time to sign a replacement. We want to have the best centre forward we can possibly get.

'This is the first time I have faced this problem as a coach and the truth is I have found it a conflicting situation to be in.'

Spurs have also been linked with a £10m move for Wigan's England striker Emile Heskey and are also tracking River Plate's Colombia star Radamel Falcao.

Can't see Huntelaar leaving Ajax for Spurs.

If this rumour is true then Spurs do have allusions of grandeur.

Why are Spurs bothering to look at Falcao? Hell only be there a couple of years before he wishes to follow him dream and come to us..

Probably a bit too much stuff in the papers about Spurs being forced to back down, or give in to Uniteds demands. It'll just encourage them to drag it out closer to the September 1st so they can save face.

Public courting:rolleyes:

I know, before Spurs launched their idiotic dossier idea we hadn't ever mentioned a target by name..

Got to feel for Ramos in all this.

Feel for the Spurs fans as well to be honest. It`s the way of the world though, big fish eat the smaller ones. The Tiger shark that is Real Madrid tried to eat us this summer as well. Sadly they forgot that we`re Great Whites.

Great Whites>Tiger Sharks>Goldfish

I like what you did there.

But fortunately Humans rule all. I don't know how well sharks would do on a grass pitch.

I really, really wish both sides would fecking speed this deal up. I am in limbo as things stand. There are so many things I wish to do:

- Sit contentedly at my computer, writing potential United formations, including Berbatov.
- Getting my new "Berbatov 14" jersey from the mega store.
- Feed the squirrels from my balcony in my garden.

United prepare Berbaraid.

Man Utd hope to complete the signing of Dimi Berbatov this week in a Berbabusting £25 million deal.

Berbatov is said to be Berbadelighted at the prospect of teaming up with the likes of Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.

According to internet fansites such as www.berbacafe.net, fans from all around the globe are eagerly anticipating the deal at which point it is believed they will Berbawank gleefully.

Atleast we don't need to send a limo down for Berba, Keane will pick him up, and drop him off.

Sign Berba, then put in cheeky bids for Arshavin and Hunter just to sh*t Levy up big time

Berbasource?

Seems a deal could well be imminent now, but we seem to be playing a similarly dangerous game to the one we did with Robben and Ronaldinho. The club are resigned to losing him, and a firm bid from United at the moment should seal it, but it seems we are trying to potentially play chicken with Spurs in a bid to get some sort of bargain price. Great if it works, incompetant if it doesn't.
