Berbatov

Plenty of people are trying to reason their way out of the simple truth, that if Berbatov was a United player, and another club were in for him and the player was acting like this, we'd be outraged

I want to see a top striker signed like the next person, but I'd rather stick with what we've got than see a player gained via this method

Berbatov refused to play according to poyet...its getting closer imo..

To sulk is one thing, to actually refuse to play is completely wrong. I can't believe Berbatov would just refuse to tog out. If Ronaldo had done something like that we'd want him hanged.

I wonder if he really refused though? If Spurs are going to sell then it suits them to paint Berbatov in as bada light as possible so no Spurs fans blame Levy for not doing more to keep him.

Berbs is obviously a want away player who has real ambition and love for a different club than the one has is at.

I hope he signs for us.

we havent even made a bid ..

if berbatov refused to play then he is an idiot

a sexy one

Dude Berbatov would not have made a decision like that without consulting his agent.

My bet is that his agent knows something that we don't.

I know.

Shame.

Cnuts'R'Us, lead by Ronaldo and Berbatov.

Rooney wasn't exactly an angel.. Not sure you can underestimate the lure of United and the chance to play at the highest level, both at home and in Europe.

He'll be a good signing for us. Fantastic player.

100% agree.

Dunno, can't remember - what did Rooney do?

Obviously, if we do sign this cnut, I hope he becomes a fantastic player for us. I am not convinced though.

Agreed. But football fans have always been hypocritical.

But as a club we have not done anything wrong. We made a bid and the offer is still there. It is the player who is acting the cnut and forcing the club to sell.

fecked off his boyhood club to play for Manchester United. I think he forced Everton's hand via his agent.

But yeah, he's a cnut for doing what he's done.(Berbs), But as I said, soon to be our cnut.

What has Berbatov done though? Really? He hasn't been mouthing off to the press, he wants to leave which is fair enough, and has made Spurs aware of this, and that is that as far as i'm aware. He didn't refuse to play today from what i hear, his manager felt he was not in the right frame of mind that is all.

Hardly despicable behaviour or anything, cannot be compared to the likes of Saha and Hargreaves.

Poyet didn't say he refused to play, he said he wasn't in the right frame of mind to play.

He was asked would he be leaving, and he said 'I don't know anything'.

The message on the spurs site today was to prepare the fans for his exit I think.

They could have easily said he was left out because he got back late Thursday evening and came into training on Friday quiet tired, so decided not to play him because of that.

He's been harassing the Spurs management for the move since middle of his first season at Spurs, according to Martin Jol.

Some ITK information then?

Oh btw: Have we signed him yet?

Totally different
Not really, if anything it was worse. Rooney ensured Everton fans that he will be at the club for a long time which Berbatov never did. His refusal to sign a new contract was more or less, forced Everton to sell. No way, there were gonna let him walk for free in two years time or for cheap in one year.

And come to think of it. We got Saha and Hargreaves in the same way as well. People are now just getting their knickers in twists because of the Ronaldo saga.

Why do we always leave things so fecking long?

Lets just hope that we aren't all still sitting here this time next week posting "I hope he signs tomorrow".

So frustrated. Going for a posh mans!

EDIT!!!

Posh mans = Masturbation with a condom on. Its common term down in the south East of England!

I'm not a Homosexual so calm down Rimaldo ;)

My Brother's girlfriend's sister works for Premier Inn in Portsmouth, and she's just texted me to say a Mr. D. Berbatov has reserved a room from Sunday to Tuesday.

Make of that what you like.

I am totally aware that we have players who have acted bad.

Don't think NOT signing a contract is bad though.

"After having a meeting he did not find himself in the right frame of mind to play. That is why he was not in the squad.

"When the player says to the manager that he does not feel in the right condition to play a full game at this level, I do not think you have any option.

"It is a difficult situation. We have been talking about it for two or three months and we have another week now."

The transfer window closes on 1st September and Poyet is relieved the matter will finally be resolved.

"He is a fantastic player, but if someone doesn't want to be here, then we need to sort it out," Poyet explained.

"We have seen it this summer with Robinho and (Cristiano) Ronaldo. It is difficult for a club to keep hold of these players when there are so many rumours that he is leaving."

Premier inn ah. Seems Mr Berbatov likes to live the life of luxury, no expenses spared!

How about who gives a feck!! His acting like this because he doesn't have choice! You can't put every individual in the same boat. If you look at it from his view he's 27 going on 28 and he knows that this will probably be his last chance to move to United and play Champions League football. Next year his a year older, players that aren't on the market may soon become available i.e. Benzema, with come knocking for the last 2 seasons now next year is not guarenteed. Also please explain how you don't want a player that is showin some much drive to play for us?

That may be so, but if you genuinely don't want to be somewhere, then what can you do? As long as you don't air it in public and make your feelings known to the right people at your club, then you can't do much more. It's not as if he hasn't knuckled down and played well since his first season for Spurs.

well within his right to do so, as he's keeping it internal. why did martin jol come out and say it in the press?

as with any player, a club will do a cost/benefit analysis to see if he's worth keeping. every close season, spurs have done that and decided to keep him. its the same thing they'll do again and they might change their mind and sell this time. either way nothing has changed.
