53) if you record yourself saying "dimitar berbatov" and play it backwards you get "i am here to rule the world with manchester united"

55) dimitar berbatov is an anagram of "giraffe loves bedside table"

Berbatov is said to have forged the all mighty and powerful excalibur

I have it on good authority that once Spurs upped the price to 32M United lost interest and refused to be drawn in any further. A boardroom decision was made that they would not go beyond 28M. That's where it stands now and I agree with them.

ITK

It is understood Berbatov handed his request on Friday to sporting director Damien Comolli and chairman Daniel Levy, the day before he was named as a substitute at Middlesbrough where Spurs lost 2-1.

Earlier in the summer, Levy feared Berbatov would have a negative influence on the dressing room after making it clear he wanted to join Manchester United. A United bid of £20.5million was rejected last month and they have not made another formal offer, although Tottenham have insisted they do not want to let him go.

However, the saga has entered a crucial stage following Berbatov's request and comments on his arrival for international duty. "I'm now at Tottenham but no one can disagree with me wanting to follow my dream," said Berbatov, adding he wanted his future finalised as soon as possible. Spurs' stance means that is unlikely to happen.

The 27-year-old, as Bulgaria's captain, was expected to fulfil media duties ahead of the friendly against Bosnia, but failed to face the cameras.

Spurs are still looking to recruit a striker before the end of the transfer window. They have now turned their attention away from Zenit St Petersburg's Andrei Arshavin, who might join Barcelona. But Spurs could renew their interest in the Russian if other avenues are blocked.

"We still have a lot of time, we will see," Dennis Lachter, Arshavin's adviser, said. Zenit claim to have lowered their asking price below £20 million with manager Dick Advocaat needing to sell before entering the transfer market himself.

According to Advocaat, Arshavin's mind was elsewhere on Sunday when Zenit lost 3-1 at home to Shinnik Yaroslavl. ''He's constantly wondering if they'll let him go or not,'' Advocaat said. ''He's waiting by his phone for calls from his agent.''

Fergie: I need four strikers

ALEX FERGUSON wants a fourth hitman to target another Treble.

Manchester United are due to launch a fresh bid for Dimitar Berbatov and their first for Roque Santa Cruz this week.

Ferguson’s side laboured to an opening-day 1-1 draw at home to Newcastle and were flat up front.

There was no Carlos Tevez due to a family bereavement and no Cristiano Ronaldo due to injury, leaving Wayne Rooney as the only proven goalscorer. Even when they are all fit, Fergie still wants someone in.

The Reds had four top goalscorers the year they did the Treble in 1999 and that is what manager Ferguson wants again.

He said: “We are working on bringing in another top striker.

“Having added strength up front is a situation I would really enjoy.

“Ideally, I like to operate with four experienced strikers, as we did when we won the Treble when we had Andy Cole, Dwight Yorke, Teddy Sheringham and Ole Solskjaer.”

Spurs are holding out for £30million for Berbatov, while United will need to bid at least £18m for Blackburn to even think about selling Santa Cruz.

Meanwhile, United have signed a lucrative five-year sponsorship deal with Saudi Telecom.

They missed the Cantona bit out.

He's not coming. United will not pay 32M for him.

i don't think we would pay that either. at the same time i don't think spurs would not cash in on him when he is at his highest price. by the sounds of it he wants to move and will be worth a lot less money this time next year. we want him as cheaply as possible and spurs want as much as possible. it is business. i am sure a middle ground will be found eventually.

let me pear into my magic eight ball... oh you all knowing magic eight ball please oh please will u give me the answer to the Berbatov Transfer saga.... Will dimitar Berbatov sign with Manchester United prior to thursday morning... now i shake you magic eight ball give me your answer now!!!!!

through the murky black waters the answer comes forth and its...."'Better not Tell you now"....

They've got 13 days to sort it out. United should hold out till the very end. It's a poker game. Spurs would not want an unhappy player with them. Berbatov did the right thing by asking to go. That's what we all expected Ronaldo to do and if he had have done we would have lost him. All the talk of sitting him out on the bench was a pipedream. It could never happen.
The ball is well and truly in Spurs court now and United should be sitting back letting Spurs sweat it out.
If we end up not buying him Spurs are going to have a very bad situation on their hands and could be in line to lose millions. It's good seeing the shoe on the other foot now.

exactly, i am sure spurs are not stupid enough to let this kind of scenario arise. it is a game of brinkmanship with each hoping the other will blink first. it is a waiting game for both and i think spurs will have to make the first move in the end unless they want an unhappy player playing for them that will only go down in value in the coming months.

...and if you think the berb is miserable now......

And you honestly don't think we need to sign another striker desperately enough to be sweating a bit also as the transfer deadline ends?

I believe with Ronaldo, Nani, Tevez, Anderson, etc. back in the mix and a fully fit Rooney that we may not necessarily need to sign a striker in the summer window.

Spurs, however, have an unhappy player and a pretty fair offer for him from the club that he wants to join.

You're right that the ball is in their court, so to speak. That said, if SAF wants a 4th by the deadline, the United staff must be sweating a bit to either tie up Berbatov or step up our interest in other targets, such as Santa Cruz.

...and if you think the berb is miserable now......

exactly right. i am sure the spurs hierarchy are aware of this. if we are i am certain they know as they are seeing everything that goes on behind the scenes as well. they are just trying to get the most for their most valuable assest. you cannot blame them really. we would have done the same with ronaldo.

Fergie is obviously playing the hard line too. This report got lost in all the crap..........

Sir Alex believes current United squad don't need any new players to triumph this season

Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted he is prepared to go through the new season with
his current squad of Manchester United players.

United opened their Premier League title defence in disappointing fashion at
Old Trafford yesterday, held to a 1-1 draw by Newcastle.

With Carlos Tevez back home in Argentina following a family bereavement and Wayne Rooney some way short of full fitness, the Red Devils lacked a killer touch up front.

Injuries to Ryan Giggs and Michael Carrick hardly helped and with a massive list of absentees to contend with already, the result seemed to back up Ferguson's previously stated theory that he needs another forward.

But while attempts to sign Dimitar Berbatov will continue this week, the United boss has confirmed he would be happy sticking with what he has.
'If a new signing happens it happens,' Ferguson told Key 103.

'The squad we had last season is good enough. Carlos Tevez will be back for the Portsmouth game next week. Anderson is due back from the Olympics by the time we play Liverpool and Chelsea and Wayne Rooney will be more effective for playing 90 minutes against Newcastle.
'If we have to go with what we have, we will do.'
Ferguson seemed quite relaxed about the situation, even though United have already slipped a couple of points behind their main title rivals with just one match of the season gone.

Not that there is any major reason for concern, other than the fact United's Super Cup commitment in Monaco at the end of the month means they now face three successive away games, starting at Portsmouth next week before those crunch trips to Liverpool and Chelsea after the first international break.

'We have been handicapped by the fixture list but there are 37 games to go, so we have plenty of time," said Ferguson, whose team picked up only two points from their opening three games last season and still successfully defended their crown.

Shucks, we won the CL and the PL last year with the current squad. And we've now got some very promising youngsters with the da Silvas, Possebon and Campbell (who really impressed me for a first time out this weekend).
If we don't get the Berb, we'll survive. If Spurs miss out on selling him they will be up the Lane without a paddle.

Dimitar Berbatov met his agent in Bulgaria last night to try to force through his move from Tottenham Hotspur to Manchester United. The 27-year-old forward is on international duty for the match against Bosnia-Herzegovina tomorrow night and he is worried that United will try to sign Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, the Holland striker, from Ajax if Tottenham refuse to lower their £30 million asking price. “We’re entering a crucial period of negotiations,” Emil Dantchev, Berbatov’s agent, said.

Zenit St Petersburg have told Tottenham that they will not sell Andrei Arshavin, the Russia playmaker, for less than £20 million. “It is take it or leave it,” Dennis Lachter, Arshavin’s agent, said. “That is the final price.”

Santa is a smoke screen, as was Henry. There's no way we would just jump in to sign another striker. We're going to take the Berb thing right up to the wire and there'll be no time for dealing with anyone else.

Berba's agent Dantchev is a sneaky weasel. He will make this move happen.

Fergie's surprise may have been the berb's request for a move. That's a BIG thing. As I've said, if Ronnie had've done that he would be a Real player by now. Calderon would have had his cock out.
Fergie's playing it cool and calm and should be able to get his man. We may have to wait another couple of weeks, which, in the grand scheme of things, is no time at all.

But surely it's no surprise Berbatov makes a transfer request. It was coming sooner or later. Really we get him, but right now I can see it go the to wire and maybe not be completed...:nervous:
