Berbatov flew to bulgaria this morning, they have a friendly in midweek,so looks unlikely we will sign him imo...

Depends where his return flight is too, this is frustrating, but as I have said many times, keeping Ronaldo still makes the team to beat, I mean he fecking scored in basically every game last year. And scored the goal that clinched the title for the second year running.....

The thing shows that the berbatov deal is not in the pipeline, and i even doubt there is anything lined up...Imo fergie won't sign any striker,i hope i am wrong..

It shows nothing of the kind. Internationals are important to players and in any case transfers don't normally interfere with them I believe I'm right in saying.

The captain of the bulgarian national team and Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov has arrived at Sofia. He will take part in the friendly mach against Bosnia in Wednesday. "I don't think people should be mad at me just because I'm following my dreams and ambitions. At the moment I'm still a TH player. Yesterday, I was a substitution at the game with Boro, because the coach decided so. But at the moment I'm thinking only about the national team. We have to show we're ready for the qualifiers. I'm not complaining. And you'll never hear me do. Even if it's a hard time for me, I've been through worse. It's part of the job. As for the relationship with my team mates, that's the least of my problems. We've had a great relationship with Keane, but everything has it's end." said the bulagrian star. "I've noticed something. Eric Cantona never smiled on the photos but I don't know if anyone asked him why." ended Berbo on a mystical note. Hi, I'm a bulgarian, Berbo is my favourite player and UTD as you might've found out is my favourite team. I've been really excited through the last two months and the speculation really started getting on my nerves. Berbo @ Old Trafford would be a dream come true for me. I just can't wait anymore, really hope it will come trhough. I've took the honnor of translating this little interview for you. Sorry if I made some mistakes, my english is not quite perfect.

Hands up those who still think we dont need Berbatov.

On todays performance we need Arshavin as well.

Well, he'd have likely taken Campbell's headed chance. But so would almost all good strikers.

Today wasnt proof we need Berbatov. It was proof that with all the injuries and suspensions and players away that we have, we need someone. A winger would have been even more handy today since we had nothing of the kind after Giggs went off. At least we had 2 strikers.

Carrick is out for 2 -3 weeks and Giggs has a hamstring, so our problems aren't getting any better.

Portsmouth, Chelsea and Liverpool away next, so how many points are we going to take from those games is the question.

Not many considering the current state of the squad.

Giggs may be the most worrying injury if Carrick is out for only 2-3 weeks.

Anderson will be back from the Olympics next week, Nani back after the Portsmouth match and Tevez will be back for the Portmouth match.

If we believe that Park and Hargreaves are close to being fit, and we actually sign Berbatov things should calm down a bit soon.

After Portsmouth away, always a fecking nightmare, we don't play in the League until September 13, which is at Liverpool...

Fergie was asked post-match on Sky about Berbatov again, to which he replied..."I'm not saying anything about that"...., with an expression on his face like what makes you think we're going to sign him. He then continued...."When Tevez is back, both he and Rooney will be my strike force".

He keeps contradicting himself though in different interviews, so he's just covering up best he can.

Lou Macari is on MUTV now and he's continuing his verbal assault to prevent Berbatov joining United.

That mans opinion is worthless in my opinion. Some of the shite he comes out with is unbelievable.

Get in there Lou!!

Lou Macari could have joined Liverpool in the 70's when they were flying high, but he option for United. No, I am not saying his opinion is absolutely spot on, perhaps he is wary of the price tag and being of the old school thought, he is sensitive on players breaking contract.

hargreaves will be back on sept 21st according to report. park just started training, so i don't think he will be back for couple of week atleast.

The problem he has with the player is his 'supposed' attitude.

He has to realise that the player has his own personal campaign under way to try get out of Spurs, although it hasn't sunk in for Lou.

He wasn't like that in his first season for Spurs, and he isn't like that when playing for Bulgaria.

Also, some people may have a natural facial expression of moodyness, but it doesn't mean that they actually are.

The manager wouldn't be going for Berbatov if he didn't think he was the right player for United, so he should have faith in his judgement.

He hasn't played in yonks though.

Nope. That's not all that funny.

I preferred Plech's effort.

Clutching at straws and thats an understatement. Have fun with that username though.

Didn't know the date for Hargreaves. I did say if we believe they're close to fitness...

Macari was asked by Ian St John when he joined United why he did so, and not Liverpool: I decided to join the best club in the world.

That didn't please St John, so it pleased me.

He's been pretty consistent about his doubts over Berbatov. He thinks his attitude and lack of effort os worrying. I doubt he sees it as a one man campaign to stop him joining us.

He is usually quite taciturn and awkward, even pessimisticv and gloomy, but he's entitled to think what he likes, unless Pogue really meant that everyone has to agree to everythibg Fersguson says, does and thinks.

Macari's also been consistent all summer as to having no idea why Ronaldo would ever want to leave United, which I assume most United woudl fullty agree with. He's opnionated.

Funny thing is, the backlash on here towards Ronaldo has been quite unbelievable. At least when he's been refused his moves he's been professional and come back and played his football at 100%, even more than that 110% improving all the time.

Berbatov has done the opposite according to you, trying to weasel out on his club and contract. What happens when a more fashionable club comes in for him in a year? He's already shown with his one year at Spurs then wanting to leave that he'll make a big effort to leave regardless of how soon he'd just got there. And if he's in a mood, purposely playing at less than 100% then he's very unprofessional and not above doing the same thing to us.

I'd love it if Fergie would pull a rabbit out of the hat like he has in the past with the likes of Larsson. It doesn't have to be world class striker in his prime, just someone with experience who will do a job for us when we do not have Rooney or Tevez available.

Really, I can't imagine too many scenarios where we could play Rooney, Tevez and Berbatov together in a team anyway. A stop-gap player who will fill in at least until Ronaldo is back would be enough.

Maybe when Lou and anyone else start to know him better, more misunderstanding is sorted.

Cant see much clutching at straws there, just his opinion and take on Macari.

Stop going at individual posters, you should be used to it more than most.

In all honesty i've lost all patience with the situation.

You can't believe a word that the media are saying regarding the transfer and with every passing day it looks less and less likely he will sign.

I mean i read this morning that he will sign by Tuesday but i then hear that he's flown out to meet up with the Bulgaria national side making the previous report a load of bollocks! Just sick and tired of it all.

Injuries are crippling us at the moment and given time that will gradually improve, but one common factor will still remain, its glaringly obvious that we need to bring a striker in!

Its the one area of our squad that truly needs sorting out. Anybody that says other wise are either incredibly arrogant or incredibly stupid.

Agreed. Someone in the Henry/Eto'o mould would be very handy in particular.

- Tottenham Hotspur striker Dimitar Berbatov, who has been linked with European champions Manchester United, reaffirmed on Sunday his desire to leave the Premier League club.
"I'm a Tottenham player at the moment but I don't think that someone has the right to be angry at me for pursuing my dreams and for my big ambitions," the Bulgarian international told reporters at Sofia

Its a lot of clutching at straws, having seen the interview and read his bizarre take on it. Dont let video evidence get in your way though.

I'm just not as convinced that Berbatov is so different to Tevez and Rooney the way some people are. If we're going to pay up to 30m on a player I'd like to see something really different added to the strikeforce like real pace. Just to get all transfer muppet and extrapolate from one game today I guess you could suggest Agbonlahor.

If we're just looking for cover for Rooney and Tevez then I'd prefer to pay a lot less and get a "good" rather than "great" player, or a top player that maybe is a bit past his peak, the way Larsson was.

Hell, I've never really liked Santa Cruz, he's certainly never going to be in the same class bracket as Rooney and Tevez, but he'd certainly do the job for us. Even Benni McCarthy sounds pretty good right now! :)
