Ronaldo wrecked everyone's Summer & now the delay in signing Berba is beginning to ruin our weekend!

Its just not fair.... :wenger:

jesus if this is gonna spoil yer weekend then i wouldnt have held much hope for it anyway.

Personally sunday is a top class day with the start of season

Feck off. They can ban me if they want.

Jaaysus. It is not as if I was actually trying to fool anyone. I was (probably badly) parodying the situation.
Your only fooling yourself man ;)

Speaking of which, I fooled myself last week. I owed myself a tenner & asked myself for another tenner & gave it straight back, and in doing so said "there's that tenner i owe ya.." and i never copped on, so i've repaid the debt - smart man is me

I'm not wound up. Just pointing out that it wasn't funny. And it wasn't, to be fair.

I'm not sure how being excited about signing a brilliant player like Berbatov means that anyone is somehow not looking forward to the new season or not happy with our squad as it stands. I don't follow that logic at all.

Of course, if you're not remotely excited or interested in this potential signing that's fine. Probably best to stay out of the thread titled "Berbatov", mind you.

People are getting highly strung about this deal not being done right this moment. Despite what Ian Ladyboy told us, this is a complicated thing and is likely to drag on until the closure of the window.

It is funny how on the eve of a new season there is so little discussion about the Newcastle game, but lots on this; even though nowt is happening.

I am as interested in the Berbatov deal as much as anyone. But it's not as though anything of any importance is actually happening. The thread descended into farce long before my crap intervention.

He'll be signed before 1st September. He ain't signing today or in time for the Barcodes.

Each to his own. The winning feeling of last year has gone for me and so it should. Its time to start all over again and prove that we are good enough. Have you still got the hunger? Are you never satisfied?

The players need to still have the hunger, not us. I'm constantly satisfied by just watching United play. The trophies, great football and great personnel are just added bonuses.

:wenger:

Paying over 20M for Berbatov is ridiculous

Look. As Blackadder reminded us, the ape creatures of the indus have mastered arithmitic.

1) United have paid - oh, what for our existing squad? A gazillion or so.

2) We are very much in need of a world-class striker to lead the line.

3) Such players cannot be had for ten bob.

4) Failing to complete the team because of an unwillingness to pay the market rate for the required component sits very comfortably with the old adage about spoiling the ship for a hap'orth of tar.

5) The willingness to pay £15-20M for a journeyman player would, in fact, represent a genuine squandering of resources.

6) You are a muppet.

Spurs star Berbatov 'in Manchester for United medical'

By Sportsmail Reporter Last updated at 2:59 PM on 15th August 2008

Dimitar Berbatov was believed to be completing his move to Manchester United today as Zenit St Petersburg lowered their asking price for Andrei Arshavin to allow him to join Tottenham.

Spurs, having already sold Robbie Keane to Liverpool last month, needed to strengthen their forward line before allowing Berbatov to join United in a £28m deal.

Waving goodbye? Berbatov (left) at Spurs training on Thursday
The London Evening Standard believes Berbatov was not at Tottenham this morning and has instead arrived in Manchester for a medical.

When United boss Sir Alex Ferguson was asked today if that was case he replied: 'I have absolutely nothing at all to say.'
Despite Berbatov's imminent departure, Spurs head coach Juande Ramos insists Spurs can compete in the transfer market with the Premier League's top four.

Spurs are determined not to be seen as a feeder club and their major summer signings have been Luka Modric, Giovani dos Santos, Heurelho Gomes and David Bentley.

Proper wind up this thread (no really!)

Everytime I check in too see if there's any news, it puts me 3 pages behind (on account of you lot - you know who you are - putting in ANOTHER 3 pages of sh.... thoughts), and I only notice after reading through most of em. sigh.

It bases when it puts you on the last time you left the Caf for a certain amount of time.

With Rooney declared fit, there's absolutely no need to rush this through, to play the fecking bar-codes. At home.

Which means the stand-off continues. Spurs want to sell, we want to buy but neither side wants the other to think they're desperate. I reckon noone's gonna budge an inch until the middle of next week, at the earliest.

have you even know fergie, to show his hand, he was saying he knows absolutely nothing, but he is probably sitting there knowing that berbatov is on the m1 on his way to manchester, and fergie is playing with the press.

wether he does or wether he doesnt sign before 5 is irrelevant as he wont be in the team for sunday withr ooney back fit.
