Berbatov

Im getting the feeling that things may become a little clearer today. We have the deadline for player registration and the speculation that Spurs could complete the Arshavin deal.

The deadline hardly matters in the grand scheme of things. We've got Rooney and Tevez for Newcastle, we aren't desperate. Yet. I can't see either Arshavin or Berbatov deal being complete today, and clearly not early enough for any of them for play this weekend (Won't Arshavin need a work permit?).

If fergie was as confident as you are that Arshavin would become "one of our best players", he would be looking to sign him, obviously. Mind you, so would all the other biggest clubs in Europe.

Any footballer who is good enough to be "one of the best players" at Manchester United has to be a fairly sensational talent i.e. considerably better than Arshavin

Many teams wanted him (reportedly), its just that Zenit were asking for a fee close to 25m. Not many players are worth that amount. I think for 18m we should go for him, Im convinced he's that good.

who is this berbatov everyone is speaking of?

Yes, James Cooper (Sky Reporter) did say the manager said he hadn't much time to talk to the press this morning, but wouldn't be drawn on any questions about Berbatov.

He said there are strong rumours that Berbatov is in Manchester, but not at Carrington as of yet.

Something is definitely happening, as the Arshavin deal is running parallel with this.

That's a more positive spin on it than just guessing from body language.

So are we going to sign him then?

Or Huntelaar? Or Benzema? or Both?

The tension, the atmoshphere, the excitement, the buzz!

There are hundreds of players who we are not after. Besides we don't need Arshavin as we already have two similar players in his position.

But if he's as good as you say, surely that separates him from those hundreds of players, and puts him in an elite band of players good enough to play for us?

Rumour is rife that the Tottenham star travelled to United's training ground on Friday to undergo a medical.

But, when asked about Berbatov, Ferguson has declined to comment, saying: "I have nothing to say, absolutely nothing at all."

that was on the article about rooney being fit for sunday

Wouldn't read into that. I can't see him even mentioning Berbatov's name until the transfer is done to keep Levy's muppetry at bay.

I agree which is why I beleive something is happening. If it wasnt I think fergie would say we tried but havnt signed him r something akin to that. The "no coment" for me is an indicator we are close

Excuse me while I "do a Glaston" and re-cycle an unsubstantiated claim from a Spurs website.

My mate was up at the Club shop earlier and has called me to let me know:

Berba was at WHL with his agent and Commolli for an hour this morning. Left at 12pm in a suit and got into his car with his agent. No other players at the Stadium today.

Make of that what you will but my assumption is that the deal has been agreed he has been to the ground to be formally advise dof this and loose ends tied up. he will now be on his way up to manchester/barcelona/rochdale to complete formalities at the other end.

I love the way they invariably say "make of that what you will"

Ok, I just saw a bit of the news conference, and when asked about Berbatov, Ferguson said..."I have nothing at all to say on that, nothing has changed".

James Cooper said Berbatov wasn't at Spurs Lodge this morning when asking the manager about Berbatov.

If you passed on this kind of junk more often then GlastonSpur would lose his only reason for being on this site!

Indeed.

I want to know what yer man's mate was doing, hanging around the club shop for "over an hour", spying on Berbatov and his agent.

Dedicated cnuts, these Spurs ITKs aren't they?

The word "dedicated" is redundant, IMO.

I'll see the full conference at 2pm.

Mickey Thomas will probably be in the MUTV studio, so I might be able to take something from anything that's said, or body language.

Berbatov not being at training todays is a pure sign something is going on though.

Bit of a giveaway to claim Berbatov was in a suit as well. A footballer moving clubs doen't need to smarten up like he's trying to get a job in a bank. You don't need an Armani suit to go get a medical. This is precisely the kind of ITK crap that GlastonSpur has been fooling people with on this site for ages.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the entire Spurs squad not go to Spurs Lodge today?

Won't they all be travelling up to Boro?
